When every nation has alienated each other, when there is no peace left, what route is left to take?

What once was a land of democracy and compromise, of laws, and equality, has been torn apart the departure of the heavenly race of gods, the Salmonpeople, three centuries prior. As the world broke down, these gods and goddesses decayed into myth and lore, hardly being revered as the gods there are because of the years of war their departure created.

The mega-continent of Magnolia has been in turmoil for generations, since the last Salmonperson left. The world has broken into warring (externally and internally) nations —most of which suffer from civil wars aroused by their oppressed minorities— of which there are only five that stand any chance of surviving the Great Berryer War: the Vaccin, the Prunus, the Franassa, the Rubus, and the powerful Comosus.

The Muskmelons are a nation of melons, and the only nation to not be distracted with a current civil war. They are comprised of the Cantaloupes, the Honeydews, and the Watermelons, whom are the strongest in number, strength, and will in their nation. However, they refrain from fighting as often as they can. It is rare to see a Muskmelon in battle with anyone.

The Citrus fruits are a nation that is self-explanatory. They are comprised of Oranges, Lemons, and Limes, all of which bickering amongst each other as they fight for control of their own nation.

The Comosus are a nation by themselves, which is by far the strongest and farthest-reaching. They have reigned over Magnolia since the Salmonpeople vanished, taking the abandoned land and calling it theirs. They are a militant group, using torture freely, and have no qualms about picking fights. They will fight any, and are currently leading in the Berryer War.

The Families are a nation comprised of varying cultures, and are the protagonists. It includes the Franassi; a cannibalistic group of savages; the Strigosi, a lesser mercenary group that deals in the arcane and Satanism; the Rubus; a sickening mercenary group that uses stealth, deception, and cunning to accomplish their goals; the Vaccin, a religious group that still follow the ways of the Salmonpeople; and the Oxyco, a race without any land to truly call their own, but made of minorities that banded together and demand their own nation. Currently, the Prunus will be under the protection of the Vaccin Empire.

When a Prunus general is approached by an unnamed traveler, with a message supposedly about the second coming of the Salmonpeople, the unstable equilibrium is knocked to the floor and cracked open like a plastic container of fruit.

The weather could be called consistently peaceful, and that was true. But that was also three hundred years ago, when the Salmonpeople ruled Magnolia, the tiny planet in a tiny universe, one of mystic lore and terrible creatures. about fifty years after the last Salmonperson was seen, the Comosus used their large forms to take over and rule as the new gods. becoming bored with his rule, the second Comosus leader to take the throne pitted the four major nations against each other in a war that would become a lifestyle. The Prunus, Rubus, Franassa, and Vaccin were forced into a destructive path that would turn their eyes from their true leaders, the Salmonpeople, and against each other with hatred, distrust, fury, and terror.

Now, the land stands barren and destroyed. Castles that had once stood proudly against the sunrise now lie crumbling and distraught in their hideous new appearance next to the twilight beams. Trees litter the ground along with the burning ashes of their brethren and the corpses of soldiers left to rot in the sun that now bakes away at the continent. Borders are now marked by the front line of two opposing armies.

THE BAIE

[sub][color=#e6e6e6]The Sambucus are the inhabitants of Eukaryota, the heaven encompassing all Magnolian religions. They are the departed spirits of The Berries—the Blueberries, the Blackberries, the Strawberries, the Raspberries, the cranberries, and the cherries. Because this religion is usually only practiced by berries, it is referred to as “The Baie.” Followers of this religions are called “Baies,” and all non-followers may be referred to as “sinners.”

The Lore
There are written documents of the beginnings of the Baie religion, although many are written in languages many of the current inhabitants of Magnolia no longer speak. Foreign translators continue to add to the story. While some of these accounts may in fact be truthful, there are many fakes attempting to make money off of believers.

As in all Magnolian religions, there are many divinities. In the Baie faith, however, only two are worshipped as the true deities: Fecondità, the goddess of fertility, reproduction, harvest, and vegetation, and Forza, the god of strength, tenacity, defense, and home.

In the beginning, there were no gods or Magnolians; in fact, Magnolia was nothing more than a barren dirt continent, with no rivers or seas around. Baie faith shares the same genesis concept with Pin religion (followed by the pineapples) about the earth, although both refuse to acknowledge such. It goes as follows: the dry, cracked dirt was tired of being the sole inhabitants, and it coveted something to relieve its eternal pain from the heat and dryness. So it gathered all its will and power, channeling it into the form of a woman. When this woman fully formed, the dirt lost its strength, and that is why they can no longer create gods and goddess.

Fecondità was the first being conceived by the world in the beginning. Being a woman made of the earth itself, she had divine powers that granted her the title of mother of the world. She called upon the skies to make rain, drenching the dirt with pleasant water and filling valleys until the oceans and rivers formed. When she bled, her womanly blood nourished the earth and let trees and grass thrive in the new environment. When she kissed her creations, they flowered and bred, increasing their numbers until they stretched across the once-vacant world.

In time, even Fecondità grew lonesome. Her creations could not speak back, nor could they move with her as she traveled her world. So one night, in the glimmer of the moon, she took fruits of all shapes, the sweetest of her creation, and let them suckle at her bosom, giving them form and shape like her. They were her children—these newborn Magnolians resembled both her and their previous forms, and these first children were the backbone in forming the world as we now it.

Still, Fecondità was not satisfied. She asked the vegetation to conceive another god, like the dirt had done centuries prior. Respecting its mother, nature summoned all its power and created a man: Forza. While the dirt had created Fecondità out of passion and desperation, the vegetation had created Forza had done so out of duty, and thus, Forza was a man of force. While they spat in the early centuries, Forza eventually took Fecondità as his wife, and the two were the parents of all other divinities.

The first time he and she coupled, however, was cruel and emotionless, and thus created an evil demigod, Rovina. Rovina was a woman of sin, jealous and crueler than her father. She tormented her mother’s creations with temptations they had never felt before, and often killed these earthly beings for amusement. When Fecondità discovered her daughter’s behavior, she had Forza trap her in a pit of sand and cobblestone, buried beneath the sands of rolling dunes. Sometimes, traveling merchants could hear a woman’s weeping as they crossed the dunes, and if they dared to find the source, the ground beneath them then would slowly begin to devour them. It is said that Rovina is still beneath a rolling dune, inside her prison of sand and cobblestone with her collection of sinners.

Fecondità’s greatest creation, however was another race of gods like her. The Salmonpeople, a divine race mimicking her form, were the rulers of the sea and rivers, feeding and breathing the water. They could paint with the stars and sing with the wind, prophets and mages that thought themselves better than the earthly Magnolians. The Magnolians had grown and were now a mighty population, their numbers continuously growing. The Salmon found this fact threatening, and in the heat of a summer day, ambushed the innocent Magnolians with all their might. The Magnolians had no weaponry or defense, and after the massacre, the only survivors remained due to their mother’s intervention.

Angered, Fecondità gave her first children all of the knowledge she had, to fight the Salmon, for she was no longer a spry woman but an old matron. While this knowledge has been lost through the years, it is believed this knowledge, of sin and virtues, crippled the innocence of the Magnolians and showed them the route of sinners. Nonetheless, they revolted against the Salmon before long, and defeated the race of gods and goddesses with the power their knowledge gave them. To this day, the Baie religion emphasizes knowledge.

To Fecondità’s horror, the Magnolians did not stop when the Salmonpeople were brought to their level. They exterminated the Salmon in their rush of knowledge, making their mother weep tears that fell on moist soil. This soil, touched by the tears of a mother, whispered to her. When there strength was regained, when they were ready, they would revive the Salmonpeople. To this day, there has been no second coming of the Salmonpeople.

THE PIN

[sub][color=#e6e6e6]The Spirits are the inhabitants of Eukaryota, the heaven encompassing all Magnolian religions. They are the departed spirits of the pineapples, and solely followed by this militaristic nation. Because outside worship is strictly prohibited, it is referred to as “The Pin.” Followers of this religions are called “Pinnes,” and all non-followers may be referred to as “non-believers.” This is the only religion that demands blood sacrifice to join, which is often done at infancy.

The Lore
While the only written documents of the Pin are from three centuries ago, it has found a great following in the pineapples, mainly because of its strength and tenacity. Many historians believe it was written by an artistic mercenary, but no one has managed to prove these claims.

As in all Magnolian religions, there are many divinities. In the Pin faith, however, only one is worshipped as the true deity: Elettrico, the God of all, and the one true ruler of all divinities. Elettrico is considered by Pinnes to be the father of the earth, and all other divinities are his children and therefore less powerful than he. This is one of the reasons the Pin and Baie religions feud.

In the beginning, there was nothing but ocean across the surface of Magnolia. (Oddly enough, this a similarity between the Pin and Baie, but both refuse to acknowledge such). The atmosphere was a violent mess of storms, from wind, thunder, and lighting to hailstorms and blizzards. In this whirlwind of weather, a man was born from the heat being released by these actions. The man, called Elettrico, had powers beyond any other person or fruit has had to this day. This made him a god in the nothingness, in the vast water.

Because he was the only god in the world, no other divinities are credited with the creation of the world as we know it now. Because in his world, there was no land, he is credited with creating land and its inhabitants. This is where the accounts begin to blur, mainly because of a large hand smudge in the ink, but believers have filled in this segment with one-liners that describe his actions:

“Elettrico created the world.”

After this, there are really no accounts of what happened. It’s believed that he animated the first few Magnolians after the first several days, and that other creatures and lifeforms came afterword, but no one is quite sure. What we do know, however, is that he favored the pineapples over his other children, because the pineapples were an oppressed and quiet race. He told them to rise up, through the form of the prophet Laurel, and the pineapples did, fighting back against the devilry of the Salmonpeople*.

[sub]*Note that there is no explanation of the Salmonpeople. It is assumed they were the spirits of the corrupt come up from the ocean depths, but this has not been proven in writings.

LE AUTRE

[sub][color=#e6e6e6]The Friends are the inhabitants of Eukaryota, the heaven encompassing all Magnolian religions. They are the departed spirits of the various nations, and thus are followed by many different nations despite their differences. In general, it is referred to as Le Autre. The verb of following this religion is referred to as “Autrement.” Followers of this religions are called “Pinnes,” and all non-followers may be referred to as “infidels.” This is the only religion in which all persons, no matter what they believe, are accepted into, as long as they accept La Mer (their androgynous highest deity) as their creator and savor.

The Lore
In the beginning, there was only La Mer. La Mer was an androgynous deity of the highest degree, presiding over their void of nothing as the most powerful being. However, like all divinities, they grew tired of this absence. As in all other religions, this deity created the world as it is today.

Firstly, they created Magnolia as the first planet. They filled it was oceans, deep and dark, and land, bright and green, and let their energy create lifeforms to roam. They created trees and plants, sustenance for the lifeforms. They created the sun to light the world, for what was life without illumination? When the sun grew tired, and the darkness crept in again, they created the moon and dotted the skies with stars.

La Mer embraced all their creations, from the lowest-hanging fruit to the sea-dwelling Salmonpeople. They gave them light and song, temperance and charity, and the world lived peacefully for a time. He, unlike in the Baie faith, did not make the mistake of creating gods and goddesses in his form—instead, he created a physical prowess and gave it to the Salmonpeople, the children that proved their tenacity as they struggled through raging rapids and up streams.

The Fiero, a race of lesser human beings doted on by La Mer in the latter centuries of Divine Creation, grew jealous of this power. They rose up against the Salmonpeople and fought will all of their might. While the Salmonpeople had divine gifts, The Fiero had but mortal strength, and thus lost the massacre. La Mer, however, heard of this battle, and turned his scorn toward The Fiero. They had abused their lifeforce—they had taken others, and thus, they needed to be punished. La Mer had never punished one of his creations, and his punishment was severe: The Fiero were banished to the depths of the ocean, where all sinners and infidels of the same nature could join them. It is said that they planned their revenge on their creator, although there has been no account of when or how The Fiero would accomplish this. One unreliable report claims through the empowerment of the Salmonpeople (although this has been disproven).

Despite his powers, La Mer eventually fell sick. Some claim it was a Salmonperson, some an escaped Fiero, but nonetheless, La Mer from the records. Although, before he passed on, he sent a prophet in his stead. While reports bicker, most claim this prophet to be a woman of great beauty, as this is the form La Mer wanted this creations to see the world; instead, they began to see it as opportunity for power and status.

The prophet has yet to be uncovered in any tomes or artifacts.
