Wavestorm nodded and set out in the direction of the exit. Once out of the hollow, she looked back for a quick moment to ensure that her apprentice was with her, then turned for the hunting grounds she spoke of.

"Mostly mice and voles. There is the occasional rabbit, but those are much more difficult to catch," she stated. Pausing, she looked back at Deerpaw. "The grass is becoming dry again. Do you know what that means?"
-
"Greenleaf," she stated. "And with Greenleaf comes fire. Keep alert at all times." She remained silent to give her warning a moment to set in, then began walking again. "They aren't likely right now, but you can never be too sure."
(That's alright. xD It works since your character is just an apprentice.)
-
"I did. Don't worry. If fire starts, we'll just run towards the lake." She rested her tail on the apprentice's shoulder for a moment in the hopes of comforting her. Once she had lifted her tail, she gestured to a tree that was void of leaves and blackened by moons of being scorched by fire. "It's not much further now," she mewed.
-
"It has. It died before I was born, but the elders probably still remember it being alive as if it were yesterday!" She let out a small purr of amusement. "We have to be careful of it now, though," she said, her voice suddenly grim. "It could collapse any day.
-
"Very good," she praised with a nod. Her apprentice had learned well, given that she had only been training for a moon. She kept her ears perked, listening for not only the sounds of the prey Deerpaw was stalking, but also for the sounds of fire and predators.
-
Wavestorm was impressed that she was able to stalk so silently through the grass. "A good catch," she meowed, before moving a few tail lengths away to stalk her own prey. It was only a moment before she scented a mouse, and she dropped into a crouch to creep close to it.
-
Just as the blue and white feline was about to pounce, an ear-splitting screech echoed through the air, and a hawk swooped down to snatch the mouse. Frustrated, Wavestorm lunged for the hawk, struggling to get a grip as the large bird flailed its wings in the hopes of getting airborne again.
-
Wavestorm struggled to maintain her hold on the bird, but in the end, the beating wings and talons were too much for her and she dropped off, fortunately before it had gotten very high. She hissed at it, then started licking her shoulder to flatten her ruffled fur.
-
Wavestorm glanced at Deerpaw. "Try to catch something else and I'll help you carry the bird back to camp," she meowed before taking her licks to her paw. Blood was oozing from one of her claws.
-
Gingerly, Wavestorm set down her paw to watch her apprentice. Despite her desire to rush after something, she remained in her place, forcing herself not to fidget. As she observed Deerpaw, she found herself thinking back to the meeting when it was announced that Deerpaw would be her apprentice. She had been quite surprised since, usually, warriors didn't become mentors until at least twenty moons. The blue she-cat was pulled out of her thoughts as the pain in her paw intensified. Letting out a quiet hiss, she lifted her paw up, glancing back at Deerpaw to make sure that she hadn't alerted the mouse.

(Woah! xD Wasn't expecting two new members. Hey, Rosebud, I can't see the appearance. I'm assuming you used a picture, and it won't show for me. Is it just your avatar? Just want to make sure. She sounds like she would be fine for the position, but she is kind of young to be deputy. But I definitely will consider!
As for you, Doggazzz. The description is fine. It's just to let us know what to expect. So long as your posts are at least two sentences (counting speech), everything is fine. I'll go ahead and add your names to the clan list.) -
Wavestorm shook her head. "It's nothing to worry about. Everyone makes mistakes at times. Let's get that bird and return to camp," she meowed, standing. She avoided putting too much weight on her injured paw.
(Your cats are all acceptable, LittleReindeer. I'll add them to the list. Welcome! By the way, Echopaw's mentor is Rosebud, and Mosspaw's will be Shellfur.)
-
Wavestorm found herself purring ever so quietly at the apprentice's bouncing. She started walking back the way they came and meowed to the smaller feline, "You can take the lead if you want, but don't stray too far ahead."
Shellfur let out a snort at the small, dark tom as he passed the apprentice den. "Not if you don't settle down. Why don't you look for your mentor?" he questioned.
-
Wavestorm shook her head. "Not with my paw. However, if Rosebud or Shellfur take their apprentices training, you can join them," she responded. It was more so Deerpaw wouldn't have to be bored out of her mind all day than anything else.
Shellfur sighed. Of course. "Try the warriors den or by the fresh kill pile. Otherwise, I don't know," he meowed before continuing on his way. He wasn't interested in dealing with apprentices at the moment. Although, he did have his own, and she would need to be trained soon.
-
"Not that I've ever heard of," she meowed, beginning to wonder if there was in fact an herb specifically for claws. "But there are herbs that will help." She looked at the bird in the apprentice's mouth. It was awfully large for such a young cat. "Would you like help carrying that?"
-
Shellfur watched the black apprentice for a brief moment and flicked his tail. Laying down in the shade of a bush, he reflected on his recent mood. It wasn't like him to be so easily agitated. It must be the heat. After several moments, he left the shade, deciding that he had to get on with his duties. He glanced around, then moved towards the nursery. "Mosspaw!"
Wavestorm nodded. She would have gone ahead and helped, but had asked instead for the sake of the smaller cat's pride.
-
"We're going to practice some fighting moves," he meowed plainly. Thinking for a moment, he added to his previous statement. "We won't be out for long because of the heat."
-
With that, Shellfur turned and walked out of the hollow. Without pausing to check that Mosspaw was following, he turned towards the training grounds. She has to be able to keep up to be a proper warrior. There is no time to slack off. With this thought in mind, he began to pick up the pace, making sure that it would present a challenge to his apprentice while watching that it wouldn't be too fast for a young cat like her.
(I will, Rosebud. She looks very pretty.)

It was just then that Wavestorm made it back into camp. Her limp had grown worse towards the end of her return, and the bleeding, which had stopped earlier, had started back up. As quickly as she could manage, she padded into the medicine den to have it taken care of.
