Steven smiled and he tried to act normal, "nothing! We're just going to go to a gem place, nothing important." He replied, shaking his hands in front of him.
"STEVEN CRACKED HIS GEM!!" Pearl shouted, she was really panicking even though she tried not to show it.
"Yeah, and we're taking him to the healing spring to see if it can heal him, before he dies!" Amethyst added.

"Ehhh...no?" Steven lied, rubbing the back of his head nervously. He hated lying, but he didn't want to worry Ava or make her sad
"Steven, Why are you lying? I thought you liked her!" Amethyst asked, Steven grumbled 'exactly' under his breath, which Amethyst didn't hear.
"Yes, Ava. Steven will die. His gem is cracked, and is cracking more as we speek. Once his gem cracks all the way, Steven will die." Pearl explained.

Steven gasped, not expecting to be pushed onto the warp pad. Once they were all on the warp pad, Garnet warped them to the healing spring. "Quickly now, let's get you to that spring!" Pearl shouted.
Steven was about to walk toward it, when Garnet picked him up and carried him. "I could do it myself, you know."
"Yes, but it's a risk for your gem to crack more." Garnet replied, walking over to the spring, with Pearl and Amethyst following close behind.
Steven sighed and looked down at Ava, "you ok?" He asked

"I'm fine, minus the pain and worry." Steven replied, when they got to the healing spring, Garnet set him down in it and stepped back.
Pearl waited, her fingers intertwined as she panicked, waiting for Steven to return to the surface.

Steven swam up to the surface and he grabbed Ava and pulled her in, laughing as he did.
Pearl ran over to the edge and looked at Steven, she couldn't tell if he was healed. "Steven! A-Are you healed?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'm healed." He replied, swimming over to Ava he hugged her.

Steven blushed and he pulled away, taking hold of her hands and intertwining them. "Well, I had to choose. If I died my mom would return, and that would probably make the Crystal Gems happy. However, if I left you....you would be sad and all alone. I didn't want that, so I chose to stay." He replied, pressing his forehead against hers.

Steven smiled, he had never expected to hear this, and it made him very happy. "Thank you, I think I finally understand." He whispered.
Garnet leaned over and picked both of them up, taking them out of the spring. "We need to go, can't stay here forever."
Pearl bounded over to them, "And Steven needs to rest." Instead of arguing, Steven just smiled and nodded.

"It is, isn't it? But you two need to rest. In the morning, Steven can warp you here and then you can stay here as long as you two want." Pearl replied, as she walked to the warp pad.
"And morning is just a few hours away, so you don't have to wait that long." Amethyst added, as she hopped onto the warp pad. Garnet got on shortly after.

When they got to the temple, Garnet placed the two teens down and she ruffled both their hairs, before heading to the temple door.
Pearl smiled and she hugged Steven, "make sure you get some sleep! I'm going to trust you to sleep, while I'm in my room." She said, looking over at Ava she smiled. "I'm not making you, I'm just highly recommend you get some sleep too." The gem added, walking over to the temple door and activating it, before heading into her room.
Amethyst watched the other gems to to their rooms, "I'm not going to babysit, I'm going to go and prank some people. Bye, dorks!" She said, shape shifting into a cat and sprinted out the door.
Steven chuckled to himself, turning to Ava, he smiled. "Even though I said I'll sleep, I'm not sure I'll be successful....I'm not really tired."

Steven laughed and he walked toward his bedroom, "me either, but we still can lay down and talk. However, when Pearl comes in, we need to pretend we're asleep." He explained, going up the stairs he sat on his bed.

Steven layed down on his belly on his bed and he rested his hands on his cheeks. "So I noticed you blanked out back there, what were you thinking about?"

"What about?" Steven asked, crawling over to the edge of his bed so he could see her better. "Did it have my mom in it?" He asked, he found it cool that she could see Emeralds memories:

Steven grinned, "so my mom and Emerald were friends! That's good to hear." He commented, laying his head on his arms. "And it's a bit different now. Instead of my mom and Emerald, it's you and me! We're friends." He added.

Steven grinned sheepishly, "yeah!!" He laughed, when he remembered something, he blushed and looked at the floor. "Hey, do you want to go to the spring again in the morning? I-I could take you there....it would be just the two of us, it could be like a date." He stuttered, fidgeting with his fingers.

"Yeah, they don't really care what I do in the morning as long as they know where I'm at. Plus Pearl already gave us permission to come back to the spring in the morning." Steven replied, now he was even more excited for the morning.

Steven laughed and he nodded, "yeah, it's pretty easy to forget things like that." He replied, he got off his bed and walked over to Ava, taking a seat next to her. Steven preferred to be next to her instead of on the bed.

"My team? You mean the Crystal Gems? Yeah, sure! We would love that! It's always great to get new members." Steven replied cheerfully, if she joined the team she would probably be here forever and this made him happy.

"The first thing you need to learn to be a Crystal Gem is probably protecting humanity! You got to know who you're protecting and how to protect them." Steven replied, for him he had to learn how to control his powers, but for her it would probably be different.

"Good! Then you should learn how to protect them. Usually Emerald is your fighting aide....but she is a little unstable when fighting. So do you want to try and summon your weapon without Emerald?" Steven asked, he wasn't sure this was a good idea, but if she wanted to then he would try and teach her.

"Yeah, thats your weapon! Wait, that is your weapon right?" Steven replied, not sure if Emerald had two weapons, or that sword wasn't her true weapon.
