    DEATH WOULD BE A RELEASE

Deathstroke was honestly unsure whether he wanted to know what was going through Breakout's mind at that moment, and he backed up a little to help give him some space when he saw him flickering. The wolf waited in pure silence as he gave his son a chance to work his way through what he needed, and sure enough they finally struck success.

"Yes, it has certainly worked. Well done, my boy."

He would reply with a chuckle of pride. Though his eye widened with surprise as he suddenly had his head patted by the larger beast, but his heart full on melted inside his chest as he heard that one single word; 'dad'. Oh, how long he had longed to be called that by his son. He strained to remain composed, but it was obvious that he was trembling a little from the very weight of the emotions coursing through him at that moment.

"I merely helped guide you in the right direction, really it was all your own strength and determination. If you ever find yourself stuck being invisible again just remember to focus on pleasant thoughts. But I'll always be here to help out when you need me, son."

"Ghoulian too?! Well... I wasn't likely to know about him, I don't even know where he lurks these days."

Although they stood on a truce they weren't exactly on talking terms with each other yet. But regardless, that was his still his son, so it still mattered to him. The Sanguine Ruins were gonna pay for sure, no doubts about that. His clan and family had been insulted and hurt by them; now he was going to do worse back.

Focusing on Breakout he then 'watched' him intently as he waited for any change in his condition. When the hellhound flickered in and out of visibility he shifted where he sat as excited swelled within him. It seemed that the plan was working. Well, for a moment anyway before his son turned invisible all over again.

"For a moment, yes. I want you to do it again, but when you focus on that memory imagine holding it or them as tightly as you can. Hold it, ground yourself, and let the feelings rush through you and don't you dare let go."

Deathstroke explained as he felt certain they would get it this time.

"Thank you, Sev. You are dismissed."

Deathstroke dipped his head in thanks towards his clanmate before returning his focus to Cody. He wasn't sure whether he should alert Feliks and Geralt about Cody's arrival, so for now he decided to remain quiet about them in favour of having a moment with his son. Then he heard it from Cody's lip, confirming that he had indeed been in trouble with the Sanguine Ruins.

"Breakout was right... shit. I had been right outside the prison... if I had just pushed a little harder that day..."

Guilt ate away at the assassin as he realised that he had been so close to his son, yet so far. The failure from that day was now greater than ever and he knew he would be thinking about it for a long time yet.

"And sod the Veil! You deserve better than those pricks anyway, my dear boy."

He knew Geralt hated the Shadow Veil these days, so at least his children weren't likely to go to them anymore. Though it troubled him knowing that his son was without a home.

"Where are you staying? You can stay here if you want, just for a little while."

"Hmph! I'm sure it will, provided that they take care of their offspring. No family survives without youngsters. Living youngsters."

All too easily he could snuff out her life like a candle, but the days of butchering children was behind him. Or at least that was what he was attempting to do. Blinking his eye to clear it he then looked her way and smirked.

"I dunno, maybe it is. I was younger than you when I first started learning to properly fight. But then again I was expected to kill my own parents... which I did."

    "Cody!"

Deathstroke came tumbling through the undergrowth at full pelt after hearing the howl and catching the scent. After hearing the news from Breakout he had been growing concerned about his kin. Both Cody and Ghoulian had suffered at the hands of the Ruins, and he had been horribly unaware. It seemed like that the Wilson family had been experiencing much hardship as of late, and he didn't like it.

The orange and black wolf soon came to a halt beside Sev and he cast his gaze towards the younger wolf, a broad smile filling his face.

"I've been worried sick about you!"

He was still trying to catch his breath so he wasn't able to say much more beyond that, but it warmed his heart to see him alive and well. Stepping closer he then attempted to nuzzle his snout into the fur around Cody's neck to help reaffirm the old bond between them.

A low chuckle escaped the wolf as he briefly glanced away from Loki. Shaking his head a little he then turned back to look at her.

"As much as I wish I could go, sadly I can't. Breakout made it quite clear that I am exiled from the Cartel lands."

He explained with a sigh. His son didn't wish to drop that wall quite yet, and he wasn't going to push it either.

"Well, I got murdered recently, but as you can see Death is not yet interested in claiming me. So it's been a case of swings and roundabouts, I suppose. Got some new powers, and I feel fantastic. Currently I'm leading a rather happy life with my family. How goes it with yourself?"

Deathstroke might have at one point sought to hurt her, to push all her buttons for the sake of twisted amusement, but these days? Things were different. He was content to leave her be in favour of peace. It was a new world now, it was his chance to be a new man.

"I'm sure the others will appreciate them, thank you."

Deathstroke was a little surprised that he had been tasked with cleaning the territory. He knew there had been a lot of rain lately so he could see some sense to it as a matter of fact, but it still seemed strange. Deciding to start in the main camp he inspected the pathways around the huts and noticed that they weren't exactly clean. Debris and mud caked the stones, so he took a tree branch and used it as a makeshift broom so he could begin sweeping the paths clean. Once that job was done he moved onto the job of going door-to-door and removing old bedding and bringing over fresh so everyone had clean nests again. It was tedious and rapidly spiralling into a long day indeed.

    "Of course the alliance stands."

Deathstroke would speak up as he emerged from the jungle foliage. The orange and black wolf narrowed his single blue eye as he locked his sights upon Loki, or rather Dimpledot as he knew her. A rolling chuckle came from him as he shot her a broad smirk.

    "Gifts? How kind of you."

Being allied to the Cartel was likely to bring trouble in future if Feliks ever stepped down as leader. How were they meant to maintain an alliance if he could never set foot in their lands? One of these days he would need to talk to Breakout about it, but for now he would have to wait.

Deathstroke decided to pad over as he made the decision to get involved. As the new Windkeeper he really needed to thrust himself into the lives of his fellow clanmates. At some point he would also need to get over his fear of attending wider events. However, at least he was home and safe here.

"I shall both watch and help out if you require me."

He held no shortage of battle wisdom which he was more than willing to share.

The old sand trick. Deathstroke almost died from sighing as he was rendered blind. However, he side-stepped out of the way with skill as he fell back on his more acute sense of hearing. Sight was not his primary sense, especially since his depth perception was pernickity at times.

"Warfare... I've heard that surname before. I wasn't aware the little family still lived."

Deathstroke remarked with a soft hum of interest. Spinning his body round, he then aimed to kick Psychological in the face as he tried to make her hit the ground.

"You know, even a child can be dangerous. I bet you could be something rather special if someone honed your skills."

"An assailant? Well, I cannot say that any of the attacks here are related to what happened to your twin. We were attacked by members from the Sanguine Ruins, but not from anywhere else from what I recall."

Deathstroke replied as he tries to recall back on any strange reports among the ranks.

"However, you said that the victim's throat was bitten, right? It didn't happen to look like fang marks?"

Already he was jumping to the conclusion that a vampire was behind this. Even in this new world the blasted blights persisted to exist.

It seemed that the Thunderlands weren't alone with their problems then. A soft hum escaped the wolf before he nodded his head slightly.

"Sorry to hear that, must be trying times for us all. Well, we've been having troubles with the Sanguine Ruins. Not long ago they captured me, beat me, set a young child on me, then their leader, Jace, ultimately killed me. Fortunately I was able to jump to a new body, but that doesn't really change the matter that I was murdered."

Deathstroke decided to be brutally honest about what had happened, giving the details to the Solaris ambassador. He decided to leave out that he had attacked the child, but it had been in self defence really. Kid or not, he wasn't going to just sit there and be torn apart for the sake of someone else's amusement.

"They also captured and attacked our medic around the same time. The group seems to be filled with feral beasts, especially since they're putting kids in the mix."

Breathing out slowly he then tried to relax.

"However, on better items of news, we've had a healthy stream of new joiners. Artemis is one of them in fact and has made a fine addition to the Thunderlands."

It seemed best to look on some of the bright sides of life at least.

The orange and black wolf would soon arrive as well, flanking the lioness as he came to inspect the arrival at their border. He could tell that it was not a joiner, considering the strong aroma of Wind Haven upon his pelt. It likely was a messenger. They had been warned that events would start to roll in, so he assumed that this was about something relating to the season. He would soon be left disappointed. For now he waited for the individual to explain himself to them.

The Sanguine Ruins had captured Cody? Deathstroke's expression abruptly darkened as his snout and brow wrinkled with sudden anger. Just how long ago had that been though? Flashbacks to the raid on the prison returned to him, and how it had ended in failure before he could reach the front door. Had... had Cody been in there during it? If he had known... well, he would have liked to have thought that he would have battled harder in order to get inside to free his son, but more than likely he would have gotten his stupid ass torn apart. The reality of it hit him in a rather harsh manner and instilled a deeper hatred for the other clan.

"I had no idea. I assume he is free now? Or at least I hope so."

This was the problem of having a spread out family, it made it very hard to keep track of folk.

Returning his focus to the matter of powers and malfunctions, he then listened carefully to what Breakout had to say. It seemed they had already found the root behind the hassles. Now came the tricky part of unravelling it and regaining visibility.

"I want you to think of something or someone that makes you... happy. Close your eyes and picture it in your mind. I want you to focus on it as hard as you can, and I want you keep your breathing steady."

He intended to use old methods of grounding oneself. It was what he did when needed a spot of clarity when lost in the fog of his mind.

    "Yes, yes it does."

Deathstroke replied smugly as he abruptly shape-shifted before her, turning into a male jaguar of similar age. He lowered his front end down and continued to cast her a cheeky grin.

"Think you can best me? Here, I evened the odds for you too."

There was no doubt that he would win on account of his experience, but he was willing to give the kid a chance.

Deathstroke idly followed her whilst she checked the huts out, though when she disappeared inside one he resigned himself to waiting patiently outside. Soon enough she returned and he looked at her as he awaited her verdict. Hearing that she liked it brought a smile to his face.

The wolf knew that Deutschland was far from being alright, and if that had been a trip then clearly he was a winged scorpion from the planet CooCoo. He wanted to challenge him on it, but at the same time he didn't want to be blocked out of the issues that the other was experiencing. Exhaling a long sigh he then looked towards Artemis before returning his attention to the German Shepherd.

"This is Artemis, she joined us recently. And Artemis, this is Deutschland, a former leader of this clan and our current medic."

He decided to help the introductions along a bit, and he hoped to soothe the tensions a little.

Deathstroke hurried over to take his seat at the meeting, this time not needing to lurk over his mate out of fear of him falling. Feliks looked more akin to his old self, and it brought him some much needed relief. A smile graced his features as he watched him and listened to what he had to say, but then his hackles rose up in sheer, unadulterated surprise. He was the new Windseeker. He had grown content with the notion of never stepping beyond Thunderguard, but now he was one step away from ruling the Thunderlands... and if he was honest, he did not wish to ever succeed his mate.

"Feliks... I-... thank you. I shall not let you down. I won't let this clan down."

He could practically feel the weight of the position resting upon his shoulders at that moment. At least now he could do more to help his lover, and he fully intended to.
