    DEATH WOULD BE A RELEASE

"Well, this certainly sounds interesting! Everyone is welcome to go, and I certainly wish you all luck with this eating contest."

Deathstroke couldn't help but chuckle with amusement as he padded his way over. His tail gave a gentle wag as he planned on attending this himself. If he could bring back a ribbon or something, or just some glory, that would suit him nicely. Though knowing him he'd struggle with just one.

    "Nymeria..."

The sight was painful and he did not enjoy seeing her looking so poorly. He would not turn her away, not from a clan that was her home no matter what. Since their last encounter he had risen up the ranks to being the Skychief and he wasn't entirely sure as to how she would react to that, but that news could come later once she was taken care of.

"Cecilia, I can run ahead and get some food and a nest ready. Please stay with her, Nymeria is a guest of honour."

She was a former leader after all, it was the very least they could do for her. Turning himself around he then proceeded to run off towards the medicine den with the hopes of getting everything ready.

Things were quiet, too quiet actually. Deathstroke knew that something was missing, or rather someone was missing, but who? The Skychief proceeded to wander around the camp as he tried to suss things out, and it was then that he caught sight of Cecilia. His curiosity peaked as he noticed that she seemed to have taken notice of something, so he moved to approach her, and it was then that he caught the scent of the Painted Brigade. Uh Oh. That couldn't be good.

"Cecilia, what's going on? Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but it looks like one of our own has been captured."

Great... just great. As if it wasn't bad enough with the Ruins and Veil, now he had the Painted Brigade to deal with now. Right, time to assemble the troops. Craning his head skywards he then let forth a long howl as he tried to summon Feliks to the scene.

"Sounded like he was a good guy with a good heart. You know, if you ever want to borrow some books, or just need someone to talk to I'm just a short travel away."

Deathstroke replied whilst he looked around himself as he maintained a watch on their surroundings, the noises of the jungle echoing around them. He was used to it by now and he knew that he had to listen to the birds especially, if danger was nearby they were usually swift to squawk about it.

"So, did you and your friend solve the maze?"

Deathstroke watched and maintained a straight face. It wasn't the greatest show but he admired the effort that had gone into it, so when it concluded he clapped his forepaws together in a moment of applause. The wolf looked to Felicity for a moment before he nodded his head and looked back to Dog.

"Yes, it has been good. I also hope all is well with yourselves. Got any more shows planned?"

"The problem is that weaker groups will try to submit to them just to avoid trouble. Really everyone should be banding together against the likes of the Ruins and Exiles, but they won't. It's not a pretty reality. But hopefully with Perun watching over us we shall survive and remain strong."

The wolf would rumble with a sigh and a shake of his head. It wasn't fun living with the threat hanging above their heads.

"The Kingdom? Ah, that's a pleasant place and one of our close allies. Marigold is a good king."

Deathstroke was surprised to hear that Makariy had moved, but at least he still had the chance to see him again. He seemed like a good kid and he did wish to help introduce his own kids to others, they really needed more friends. Especially since things were looking rather lonely for Lilith. Coco was in the Volary Flights, Mateo was laying low because of his injury, and Valerie seemed to be gone too.

"I can bring some lizards directly to him during the next visit to the Kingdom. They are due a check up anyway. And, if you don't mind me asking, how is Breakout doing? He... he doesn't come round anymore. I'm worried."

Deathstroke gave Calina the chance to speak without interruption, but he wasn't sated at all with the response that was given. He truly wished to scoff at her attempt to 'punish' the individual behind the maiming. Back in his day he would have had a beating, maybe a few toes broken, and perhaps even a burn inflicted upon him. That was a punishment. Granted, he knew such a thing wasn't going to fly here among these... softer whippersnappers, but what she described didn't cut it.

"That's not a punishment, that's just proceeding with everyday life. Not even a slap on the back of the wrist. At least tell me that they are being confined to camp and will be tasked with all cleaning duties. That's a punishment."

He remarked with a shake of his head, wrinkling his nose in the process. It was still soft by his standards, but probably more agreeable among the standards of the modern clans.

"And fucking trust me, if Mateo is indeed guilty of playing his part in this mess he's going to be sorry."

The wolf gritted his teeth as he said that and he was already trying to think of ways of punishing his son for this. But he was honestly struggling to think about why Mateo would ever attack a child, it didn't make much sense to him really. There had to be more to this and he intended to get to the bottom of it.

"And yeah, no one is a fan of this, but this is the shit we have to face. But look it at this way, we our youngest members can learn how to apologise here and now in their youth then who knows, the future might be brighter. I won't be dropping this, and there will be an exchange between the kids, one way or another."

The Skychief would press. How many great wars and deaths could have been avoided if people just apologised more?

    "Bring him here."

"It's hard enough. No to the weed and coca leaves, but the cigarettes are fine. I like to run a clean clan, thanks. Besides, most of the members here are under twelve moons of age, so I will say that the demographic here is rather limiting in terms of what you can bring and sell here. Either way we are on constant alert thanks to our less than glamorous neighbours. Fucking Ruins and Veil, they've been causing trouble as of late in the form of harming kids. It seems that they're both taking pages out of the Exiles' book."

Deathstroke was growing weary of both of those clans, and it was becoming tiresome dealing with them. The Veil were slow and didn't seem to actually give a fuck, whereas the Ruins were proving to be a bunch of loud toddlers who only wanted to throw the toys out the pram whilst screeching 'Red God' like it wasn't going out of fashion. The former villain was honestly looking tired of it all, more so since he couldn't simply launch himself into old habits.

"How is the kid Makariy? He was here a week ago selling things. If he ever wants more of my sundried lizards he's more than free to come and get some."

"If you have any harder drugs for sale kindly put them away. We'll possibly do trade for medical drugs though."

Deathstroke rumbled as he approached, not about to be deterred from making an appearance. He recognised Asimov from the day he had tried to see his son, Breakout. The prick had been less than friendly that day, and he was unsure as to how he was going to react here and now. Either way Deathstroke wasn't about to go dishing out punches, but he would defend himself if need be.

"As one of the leaders here I welcome you though to the jungle belonging to the Thunderlands. May Perun bless your path and grant you good trade."

Oh, it was the guy who had enjoyed his lizards. Deathstroke wore a relaxed smile as he wandered his way over to join Anna, nodding his head in greeting to Dog.

"Hello again. Don't you look dapper, what's the occasion?"

Just what was the fellow planning? The Skychief sat himself back on his haunches as he sussed that he would be here for a while, it was simply an incline at this stage.

Deathstroke approached and settled himself in so he could listen to the meeting as Feliks took the lead this week. It was short, but then again it had been a quiet week. The wolf would give a nod to show that he had taken it all in before he held himself still as he waited to see if anyone else had anything to bring forth in terms of news or questioning.

"You can come back to the camp, there are still plenty of empty dens available where you can lay down and recover yourself. Hopefully some rest will get you back to strength, and of course Cecilia can assist with the rest."

Deathstroke replied with a nod of his head before he cast his gaze towards the paths cutting through the jungle terrain. He decided to begin leading the way back through the undergrowth, simply assuming the others would follow him.

"Sometimes. Mostly it just gets me strange looks. I mean, let's be honest, rolling up to a proclan only to find one of the leaders is called 'Deathstroke' just sends mixed messages. And well... my old name is actually Joseph... so I'm a Joe, not a Bob."

It had been a very long time since he had revealed his original name. Normally he just went by Deathstroke or Slade, leaving behind the name his mother had given him. Then again he had gone by many names during his life, more than he could count. Limerick, Terminator, Masamune... all aliases he had gone by.

"Of course. Hopefully we don't get lost."

Or meet anything aggressive either. They were in a jungle, all sorts could be lurking within, like snakes or jaguars. The likes of an abandoned maze could quickly attract new residents, so he knew he would have to be on his toes. The Skychief moved to walk at Adonys' side, keeping close whilst also not trying to crowd him.

"Your friend, tell me about him. I find that it helps to remember the good times."

The Skychief dipped his head in greeting to Felix when he approached, and he was about to explain himself when Adonys then appeared. There was no hiding how Deathstroke's gaze brightened upon seeing the young lad and he was swift to offer him a broad grin whilst his tail wagged a little.

"Hello again, Adonys! Don't worry, no trouble I assure you. And this is my daughter, Lilith. I was actually hoping to speak with Freya, if she's about. A couple of us over in the Thunderlands have come up with the idea of hosting a little member exchange to help us get to know each other better as both allies and neighbours."

He would go on to explain, hiding the fact that it was mostly for selfish intentions of seeing Coco again without dragging him home. He desperately wanted to see his son, he truly did. But all in all, they did need to be tighter allies anyway. The world was filling up with dark forces once more and now they needed to stand shoulder to shoulder in order to survive. If there was one thing that Deathstroke had failed to do during his long career as a villain and that was the ability to break the Proclan spirit. He had grown to admire it, truthfully.

"I'm Deathstroke, the other Skychief of the Thunderlands, and mother to Mateo."

The old assassin would introduce as he squared his shoulders and narrowed his eye at Mystletainn. He listened to the explanation with a deepening glare. He felt sceptical about the story and he did not bother hiding his suspicions as he kept his gaze locked upon the Veilers. In the old days he simply would have began butchering his way through their ranks, but those days had to stay in the past. He needed to be... understanding. Act like a Proclanner. Be a Proclanner.

"You should have come sooner with this information, I do not appreciate having to walk here just to find this out. I want to see this child, because as part of the punishment I want them to apologise to my son. If it's true that my son played some part in starting anything then he will be made to apologise as well."

He would state as he tried to think of a course of action that wouldn't result in him losing his temper. He was already gritting his teeth.

"What punishment is planned? Keeping in mind that this kid brutally burned another child's face leaving life-altering injuries and mental trauma. I want to know."

"Careful, you'll make this old git blush."

Deathstroke was certainly beginning to feel old again, the old pains hitting his elbows especially. Maybe it was reaching time again to jump bodies, it was all he could do to help stay ahead of the grim reaper. He had no interest in meeting his final fate quite yet. As they began the trek through the jungle landscape he then gave Adonys a side glance and a nod.

"It's Deathstroke. I know, not exactly a cuddly name, but don't let it worry you. It's mostly to keep the bad folks at bay by making them think twice."

He would reply, not daring to admit that he was a retired villain from the old world. He held every crime under his belt, but he was trying hard to be a good guy. He wanted to be a hero in this new world, or at least just another guy folks could depend on when they needed help.

After a while he soon reached the remnants of the maze and he looked at it with fascination.

    "This is the place."

"Pray on that at your peril. I hear the spare nest in the abandoned den is mighty cold, ya know."

Deathstroke scoffed with a roll of his single eye. Now then, what to ask Anna. He hummed lightly as he tried to conjure up something before finally speaking again.

"Alright Anna, have you ever been in love?"

"It'll be a little like old times, right? Heh! This ought to be interesting. I just need to get my paws on a spare body, you know, just in case things go pear-shaped. It's a lot easier losing a throwaway body than this one."

Deathstroke pulled a grin as he looked at the other wolf. This was going to be fun. It reminded him of the good times where he could get in and out of clans at his leisure. This would be murder-free of course... hopefully. He aimed to give Feliks an affectionate bump back.

The event idea had potential, and he would have to keep thanking Levi for putting it forward in the first place, especially if it got him the opportunity to see his son again. He wanted to see Coco rather desperately, just to make sure that his little boy was safe after being held in the Ruins. The orange and black wolf came to stop at the border that separated the Thunderlands from the Volary Flights, and he cast forth a howl to announce his presence there. Now came the waiting game. He needed to speak with their leader about organising this, so he hoped that Freya would come to address them. At the same time he was hoping to see Adonys again. Was the lad doing alright?
