Maïa smiled. "Tienes razón, vamos a ir. But seriously now, I'm starving, you would not believe the food quality in there. Sabía a corteza."

Maïa laughed too. "Okay, but no more Spanish, it's making my head hurt." She grabbed the crumpled flyer and started walking. Swinging the ball of paper into view, Maïa mumbled, "This is going into the fire next chance I get."
-
Maïa's light tones filled the night, "Where is this place you oh-so specifically told me about?"
-
Bristlekit jumped on a mound of moss, then dashed away when the mound yelled.
-
Maïa pulled her hood over her face. "I know you're fine, but I need some weapons. And food." Her stomach growled, as if to prove her point.
-
A tiny grey blur sped out of the moss and across the ground. The moss pile collapsed.
-
Maïa gulped dowN the soup, and carefully thought about weapons. "Let's see here... I want... Ooh!!!" Maïa placed the now empty bowl on the floor and reached for some knives. "I throw really well, so I need a few." she took six. Maïa also grabbed a harness to hold them, slipping one knife into each pocket. She turned to Leah. "Anything like this?" she said, pointing at a long sword, "But a little shorter, like about that?" she gestured at the length of her arm from elbow to fingertips.
-
Skykit hissed at the cats and said in Steelstar's voice; "Get off me you rat-brained sad waste of fur!"
-
"Well," Maïa began, "I usually fight with two or three knives at a time, but normally I've thrown them within a minute. It's worth a try, got any practice dummies?" Maïa's eyes sparkled intensely at the thought of target practice.
-
Skykit wailed then fell silent. With her last breath she chanted in Rosekit's voice, "Heart of stone claws of ice eyes of night. You will see me again."
-
Maïa smiled and whipped out a knife. She threw it at a moving dummy, impaling it through the stomach. Two more knives found two more dummies. Soon she was out of knives. Maïa tackled one of the fighting dummies and used her nails to rip it's throat out. Calmly, she adjusted her wrist bandages, smoothed out her clothing, and retrieved her knives. "Your turn," she said, flashing her eyes at Leah, "Show me what you got."
-
Maïa laughed. "Nice going." she looked around. "Is there anyone else here besides us?" she stifled a yawn, "Anywhere to bed down? Something about struggling with nylon rope for an hour takes alot out of you."
-
Bristlekit shivered and curled up under Pantherclaw. "I'm cold." he mumbled, then fell asleep.

Maïa gaped for a bit, touched a leaf on the plant, then curled up at the foot of the bed on the floor. "Goodnight Leah." she said sleepily.

Hailkit romped around in patch of clover, watching cats come and go in the camp. "If I were a flower," she sang, over and over again.

"Yeah, I know. But it seems every time I get comfortable I wake up in a cage, prison cell, or giant empty fishtank. It's just not worth the extra bruises." she turned onto her stomach and went to sleep.
-
Deadstorm caught uP with Darkeagle. "What happened?" she mewed, twitching her tail nervously.
-
A boy, around fourteen years old, crept into the safehouse and leaned against the wall across from Leah's room, ice blue eyes flashing in the moonlight from the window.
