(IC) Echo suddenly turned from Thunder, lifting her head to the air. She caught an unknown scent... She turned from the creature and walked around the area, sniffing the air intently. There were so many different smells all of a sudden, how did she not notice them before? The old dragon focused on the scents, trying to match the smells to some names. Gryphon, she thought. After a few more sniffs, and... dragon? The smell was clearly dragon, but not the black dragon that lived in the valley. It was different. She turned back to Thunder. "I apologize, young one. I must be off. It was lovely meeting you. I hope we see each other again." And with a kind smile, Echo stretched her wings up and flapped once, pushing herself off of the ground and into the sky in one fluid motion. She gained altitude and sniffed the air again, locating the strange dragon scent and heading towards it. She could explore the gryphons at a later time.
After a minute, the blended scent became two, one male leading to a grove to the left and one female with a distinct cold sort of smell, leading off to another valley on the right. Deciding to follow the latter, she tilted her tail and leaned to the right, eventually noticing a large dark grey shape standing in a corner of the valley, Echo lowered herself to a few yards above the ground and hovered a ways behind the younger-looking dragon, enormous golden wings barely brushing the tall grass as they flapped. She let out a shriek, only understandable by dragons, one that sent a message of friendliness and curiosity, but also uncertainty. She tilted her head and stayed where she was, hovering, careful to give the new dragon some space as she was a stranger and didn't want to frighten her. She curled her scaled feet, showing she didn't want to seem intimidating.

In response to the grey dragon's question, Echo simply alighted on the grass and backed up a few steps, head bowed and wings held high, angled so the tops of them were facing the stranger. Friendliness, the posture showed. Not submissive, but it signified that she had no desire to engage in battle. But Echo wanted to show she was still able to defend herself if necessary. She hissed. It was a subtle warning that she could fight if necessary. Altogether, she sort of answered her question with a question. The hiss hinted the same question being reflected back to the dragon, "friend or foe?" But that no harm would come to the stranger unless it was inflicted on Echo herself.
    (OOC) Ignore that.

Ice dragon, Echo thought, immediately after seeing the indecisive puff of frost come from the dragon's snout. She rose from her stance and took a cautious step towards the dragon, smiling. "Greetings," she said. "I'm Echo, I live in the valley about a two minute flight that way." She gestured with her head to the direction she had come from. "I just so happened to catch your scent when talking with a raiju and I couldn't help but come explore. What brings you to the area? If you don't mind my asking... I don't mean to be nosy."

Echo bowed her head. "I understand. It is not my place to tell those who can stay here or not, so you are welcome to stay. Though be wary of a young black dragon. She is very protective over her territory, so I suggest you avoid her if you can." She took a deep breath and let it out, a small puff of fire appearing from her lips. "I've had my scrapes with humans as well throughout my life. I'd prefer not fighting, as dragons like me would. But with humans, it's inevitable. They can be very unreasonably... bad, at times. But worry not, this place is very safe and secluded from humans and their villages and cities. I make sure of that. Many creatures come here seeking refuge from them, and I make sure it's very peaceful here for them. It's my job, after all, the type of dragon I am."

Echo was concerned Kyrin blamed her and her kind for her father's death. She huffed another puff of flame. "Indeed," she said. "You're very sharp for a young one. But...," she said, sitting on her haunches and curling her long tail around her front feet, sitting tall. "There is a lot about my kind that you don't know." The golden dragon said, closing her eyes and smiling mysteriously.

Echo chuckled at the dragon's cockiness. "That is true," she said. "But that's simply the basics. But we have plenty of secrets and unknown powers." She opened her eyes and blinked lazily at the younger dragon, her silver irises shifting to meet the Ice Dragon's own gaze, still smiling. She was silent for a few seconds as if thinking. "However," she finally said. "It's sometimes best to leave some things unknown."

Echo stared at the patch of frozen grass as is slowly melted from the heat of the Fire Guardian nearby and the warm setting sun. She copied Kyrin's actions and lay down on the grass, savoring the sun warming her scales for a few moments before looking at the Ice Dragon. "It will be dark soon." She said, looking at the sun which was gradually falling towards the horizon of mountains. Her gaze followed the path of a flock of harpies as they made their way across the sky. "Have you eaten today, young one?" She inquired suddenly, looking at Kyrin.

Echo thought for a minute. "Well, I'll treat you tonight. You must have had a long journey, no use exhausting yourself further by hunting. It's my job as guardian of this place." Before the dragon had any time to say a word, she launched herself off the ground and took to the skies.

((OOC) Small timeskip bc I'm lazy and a little busy)

(IC) Echo returned with a harpy in her claws. Of course, as a dragon, she needed to eat. She was sure her prey understood. She only killed when absolutely necessary. She sat down in front of Kyrin and placed the harpy on the ground. "Hope you like harpy. The prey here may be different than what you're used to in the snowy mountains where Ice Dragons typically live. I've been there a couple times, very dodgy, some of those natives are...," she drifted off and glanced at the other dragon. "You, however, you are different." Echo examined her with a thoughtful look on her face, then shook her head and nudged the harpy forward. "Anyway...,"

"Well, it was a little less than a century ago," she said, crossing one foot over the other. "I met a female once in the mountains. I was minding my own business as I usually do, and at the time I had been playing with a few snowshoe rabbits in the area. Out of nowhere, this coal black female Ice Dragon leaps onto the snow in front of me and demands to know where I came from. I wasn't seeking combat, so I calmly told her that I had just come from the High Cliffs, which as you may know is a lovely hangout spot for Air Dragons. She thought I was lying and became enraged, leaping at me with a howl of anger. The rabbits all scattered as she managed to grab my wings with her teeth and claws and jerk her head away, shredding one of my wings." Echo lifted her left wing and extended it, revealing a long, jagged scar along the membrane of her shimmery golden wing. "I shook her off but she immediately rammed her head into my side, making me lose my balance and hit the snow hard. She backed off, hissing, and warned me never to come back. So I got up and left, deciding she wasn't worth my time. As I walked, I noticed other Ice Dragons hiding in the shadows. As they caught my scent, they must have smelled the other female on me as all of them I passed whispered a name and glared at me, retreating to the shadows before I could ask them what they meant." Echo thought for a second. "One word, that was all they said. A name. 'Glaciem.'"

The Fire guardian shook her head. "There is a lot of evil in the world. Unfortunately, and you may not know this, but my kind has become very scare these past few decades. It's been so long since I've seen one... I may even be the last." Echo sighed. "I've come to believe the humans have gotten rid of us all, apart from me." She shook her head. "But I can't blame myself. Though my powers are strong, there is only so much I can do."

(OOC) lol well congrats I guess! ;) I would think of something but I have low muse right now and I'm trying to simultaneously watch my favorite youtubers being adorable so :P

(IC) Echo was stirred from her sleep by a quiet voice calling her name. She yawned and stood up from her makeshift nest in the brush under some trees, shaking to drive away the drowsiness. She decided, as it got dark, to sleep in the same area as the young dragon as she sensed something was going to happen later on. It was a power of the Fire Guardians, and it came as a foreboding thought in the back of one's mind, eventually become more and more distinct in your mind as the time of the certain 'something' crept closer. It was nearly screaming at her now. Echo leapt to her feet and slithered towards the sound of Kyrin's voice to see what was worrying her. She tried to sniff the air as she made her way towards the dragon, but the smell of the valley's grass that she slept in was overriding every other scent that was drifting through the air.

(OOC) Edit: oh hi everyone! Finally back, I see... lol jk. I have to go on a walk but I should be back soon. See ya!

Echo picked up the pace as she followed Kyrin to a cave, which she leapt into and blended in with the shadows perfectly. Echo was about to step into the cave when a sudden feeling of doom stopped her in her tracks. Thousands of years as a Fire Guardian gave her the ability to search through the thought and find a blurry explanation of what was happening. In a split second, she focused on the thought and managed to pick out something. "Oh no." She whispered. Those gryphons may be able to hold the dogs off for a second, but they didn't know what else was coming for them. Something they couldn't handle, and maybe not even Echo herself. She then took a deep breath as she decided what to do. She charged into the cave and turned around, facing out of the cave and towards the sound of the humans and attack dogs approaching. Time to do what she was made to. Faster than anyone would think possible, her mind conjured up an image of herself and Kyrin and surveyed the plain, deciding where to draw the humans. She focused her energy and a second later, a flash of yellow dragon fire appeared far, far away from the cave on the grass, and two distinctly dragon figured images stood close enough to the dragons that they could see it, but far enough away that they had some way to run before they got to the mirages. Echo made the extremely life-like images run away from the humans and made sure the two-legged army noticed and followed the illusions before turning back to Kyrin. "That's all I can do for now to distract them," she said, her silver eyes glowing with power. "Someone is in trouble and I need to help them, but I need you need to stay here, make sure they don't find you. Do you trust me?" Echo stood protectively in front of the cave entrance while she waited for an answer.

(OOC) I'm really bored and I don't want Echo to seem too powerful or whatever so if you don't mind, Kasai the Dragon, I'm going to introduce like the main evil person character thing but I don't really know how to describe it or whatever so I guess Kasai could describe it and its powers OOC first before I do anything since she's the owner of the thread. I mean besides the humans, because they're already the main evil, but there's gotta be some secret weapon they have, right? So anyway, could we discuss it OOC first before I introduce it with Echo?
