A young tigress chuckled, watching the tiger be attacked by kittens. "Need some help over there? Those kittens look pretty fierce."

Reg quietly sat on the edge of the river. His sister, Halo Moon, nose his neck. He glanced over to her, his green eyes hard.
She smiled. "Why don't we go meet them?"
Reg looked away, his shoulders broadening. "Because. We don't know who we can trust."

(Okay. Are we tigers?)

(Well, my question was answered.)

A black tigress settled down, resting her head on her paws. "Who are you?"

She gave her a simple nod. "I see. I'm Shiftingshadows. What brings you here, Baywolf?"

Shiftingshadows pricked her ears. She stood up, her muscles bugling beneath her fur. "I'll come. Show me the way."

Shiftingshadows twitched her tail. "They won't lay a single paw on you without being killed by me."

Halo Moon rolled her eyes, walking over to the tiger. She dipped her head in greeting. "Hi! My name is Halo Moon."

The young white wolf bowed in her own way. "Hi. My brother, Reg, is been stubborn. He isn't a very social wolf. We've been deceived along our lonely path of just us."

She smiled. "Don't mind him. He's overly protective of me."

The tigress threateningly wrinkled her muzzle. "It was just a question. I don't think you need any thing from me. Believe me, I've been tempted to poison your drinks. Don't think I won't."

"Exactly," Scorch agreed, padding up to the young tigress. "Don't call for help if you don't need it." He gave the tigress a small glare. "You need to hush, Liliki."

Halo Moon waded through the water, pulling her brother out by his ear. The large brown wolf protested, being dragged by his sister through the water.

He managed to get free of his sister's jaws. "Well, you've pulled me out for nothing."
"No, not nothing," she spat. "Meet these guys. You really need to let go of your protective instincts."

A shadow stood motionless. His red eyes narrowed. He watched them, the shadow cloak he had on swirling around him.

The shadow noticed the young warriors. He curled his lips, growling lowly in his throat. He lunged forward, blocking their path. He narrowed his red eyes, lips pulled into an enraged snarl.

Halo Moon smiled softly. "Of course! No one owns this river. Come swim with me." She waded into the water. Reg shoved Kadi. "Dare you touch my sister, I will tear you apart."

Halo Moon let out a surprised and delighted squeal. "You have wings too? So do I! And my brother!" She lifted her head above the water, flaring her beautiful snow white wings. Reg hovered above them, well away from them. His dark brown wings caught the sunlight, turning them amber.

She smiled, blushing a little. "Th...thanks. Where are you from?"
