"no, i was just going to stand outside of it and beg for cash off of tourist," he deadpanned, rolling his eyes.
"yes, i want to go to the shop. is there a problem?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. another thing being dead had given him - quite an attitude problem he hadn't had before. he was more sarcastic and moody than ever before, and it didn't help much in the way of getting to know people - then again, getting to know people was the last thing on his mind. survival was the first. |

august took a long sip from his glass, observing the brunet carefully over the rim of said glass. after placing the glass back on the table he leaned slightly forward, eyes still trained on the other male. "since they're clearly not going to be finished with their conversation any time soon, i figure we may as well strike up a conversation on our own, if you're interested."
really, august just didn't like having nothing to do and therefore being bored. boredom was his absolute worst enemy. he was always fiddling with something or moving in some sort of way, whether it be dancing or just twitching his toes. "so...how long have you two been together?" that seemed like a good enough place to start, to august anyway. |

for just a moment august's breath caught in his throat as dakota gave him the straight answer he'd been subconsciously waiting for - he was here, and here he planned to stay, at least until the real world came knocking at the door.
"well, then - i suppose i accept it," he said, his voice just above a whisper. he took that as his opportunity to close the distance between them, the material of their suits just barely touching as he tilted his head slightly downward, eyes flickering between dakota's lips and icy eyes.
he knew it lacked sense to do this in a place anyone could see, but he also knew that he hardly had the patience to go anywhere more than a few short feet away. he was too invested in whatever it was that dakota and he were slowly forming both between and around themselves, just out of the eye of the watchful doorman for the restaurant. |

"elliot? what the hell are you doing here?" he asked, not kindly, but not unkindly either.
"i was under the impression patrick was keeping his family on a tight leash," dad added with a snort. i rolled my eyes. "you say that as if you aren't doing the same thing. c'mon, dad, just let him in. please?" dad looked back at me, then at elliot, then at me again before moving to the side, muttering things about 'rebellious children' who 'don't care for their parents' wishes.' yeah, sure dad.
while he slumps off, most likely to go sulk in his office, elliot and i head up to my room. "how bad has it been at your place," i ask quietly, shoving my hands in my jean pockets. it sounded like the same thing was going on at his house that was going on here, but i couldn't be sure, and i was naturally curious.
it wasn't just me dad was 'holding captive,' as my mother put it. he was being crazy protective of her to, which annoyed her quite a bit since she considered herself quite independent and therefore didn't require protection. he also was obsessed with the idea that she was sneaking over to the stump's house and cheating on him with patrick, which was ridiculous and made absolutely no sense, but no one can ever really tell what's going on in a jealous, angry man's head i guess. still, it was getting way out of hand.
the addition of my best friend has already made it better, though - the tight feeling i've had in my chest all week is already melting away just by turning to glance at him. after being so used to seeing him on the daily, not seeing him at all was like trying to quit something cold turkey. it doesn't really work, and it really hurts. but now he was here again, even if for a short while, thank god. |

he lifted an eyebrow. two and a half years? huh. "four years," he said after a moment, "though sometimes it feels like we really only dated for two." he added this last bit at a lower tone, even though subconsciously he knew justin didn't give a damn about what he was talking about. his boyfriend was too caught up in his conversation with ben or whatever the other guy's name was.
"we've...grown apart, i guess you could say." august sighed lightly, fiddling with the thin stem of his water glass. a chunk of blond hair fell in his eyes and he smoothed it back, icy gaze darting back to meet demetrius' darker one to try and see how he'd interpreted this new information. would he find it ridiculous that the couple had stayed together if they no longer really loved one another? probably. that's how the few other people he'd told had reacted. |

he certainly wasn't what i expected, that's for sure. honestly, why they put an upperclassmen with a lowerclassmen was completely beyond me. still, he didn't seem too bad, and he read, which was a good thing. i wasn't a fan of particularly loud or obnoxious people, leo being the one, well-loved exception. that prankster had grown on me in ways i couldn't really explain to be honest.
it takes a few of the 'glance quickly then look back at the book' cycles before i finally say, "i'm nikko, though i'm sure you already knew that. you're desiderius, right?" i was just hoping i didn't mess up the name, it was a little different than the ones you heard at freimond. then again, freimond was made up rather largely of students born from 'normal' families, and therefore had 'normal' names, if you will. only a few wizarding families had children here. |

it was such a risk, to do this in the open air of the night with their boyfriends just yards away, but that just made it even more thrilling in august's mind. it had been so long since he'd been kissed and felt loved, but right here, with dakota kissing him sweetly and wrapping his arms loosely around his neck, august felt a spark, the same spark he'd shared with justin years ago when they still loved one another.
it sends another shiver up august's spine but he doesn't stop to question it. he slides one hand up to cup the side of dakota's face, thumb stroking his sharp cheekbone. it's a magical moment, one that august never wants to stop, with passion, desire and lust creating one large cloud that cradles their heads and turns their minds to mush, not that august was in any way complaining. no, definitely not. |

talking to someone for a long period of time who wasn't a bartender or real estate agent was making him uncomfortable. he wasn't a fan of talking to people now that he had such a huge secret to keep, especially since even the slightest slip of the tongue could bring his entire facade crashing down. he knew the stakes, and he didn't like the consequences. |

"i don't really know, they try to keep it as much of a secret as possible to prevent any sort of meticulous pre-planning that could take the fun out of it. i can tell you, though, that they've been doing a lot of construction - we just don't know where. all sorts of equipment have been lugged around the campus, but there's no sign of any building that i can see." i shrug, then turn back to my book.
there'd been a lot of talk the last few days, everyone trying to guess what this year's contest was going to be. i tried to stay out of it for the most part, wanting to keep my thoughts on the contest to myself. i'd talked in-depth to leo about the contest, and that was it. |

"a good-looking guy like you? that's quite a shame. i suppose we can't all have perfect relationships, though, or we wouldn't be human." he went back to fiddling with the stem of his glass, but his mind was whirling with the beginnings of an idea. a crazy idea, sure, but an idea nonetheless - one that, if executed, would be risky, but so worth it.
at least, he sincerely hoped so.
his gaze had drifted from demetrius to a condensation spot on his glass, so he looked back at the dark-haired male, meeting his gaze. did he dare? did he? to be honest, august really, really did dare, and he wasn't sure if that was necessarily something to be proud of.
but it was too early, he decided, to do something like that. he would wait, and see if he really wanted to follow through with his risky plan, if the surprisingly enticing boy seated across from him was really worth it. so he took a sip from his water glass, and he leaned forward slightly, expression curious. "we have the evening, might as well make the best of it, no? so come on, tell me a bit yourself, i'll return the favor. i'm curious to know more about this dark-haired fellow i'm sitting across the table from." |

he started down the first aisle to his right, perusing the different food choices. it was a modest little store, but had a habit of stocking some potentially weird - and potentially cool - stuff. after buying enough groceries to last him the week he started out for home again, now toting four grocery bags.
