It was a cold day. Crisp air assaulted the porcelain lines of his face, pricking at his skin like a thousand needles. A deep breath, and that rich coolness poured into him, heated air slipping back out. A crunch followed the step of a booted foot exiting the door frame. The cement welcomed his body into the aching coldness of the year, sending a light shutter up his spine. A sigh spilled out into the near silent air, the crunch and tap of footfalls creating an intricate backdrop to the shutting of a heavy wooden door and the vague chattering of birds overhead.
It was a dark day. The subconsciousness of his mind had predetermined that his mood would be unsatisfactory before he had even awoken, poisoning the characteristic lightheartedness that colored his face. Instead it was the cool of the day that reddened his ears and cheeks, creating a grand contrast between his pale skin and chocolate freckles scattered randomly across the canvas of his face. Curly hazel locks tugged gently with the morning breeze, setting a ferocious tone in the core of the man. Green eyes tinged with grey looked utterly predatorial, and his gate was set at a purposeful pace.
Indeed it seemed this Jaxon Ramone had somewhere to be that day, with a specific ending in mind. In truth, the man had no such idea of what he would carry out; it was always within reach, but never truly occurred to him until the situation arose. His well-trained body took him towards the local coffee shop, where he knew another would be starting his day. Jax did not pause to take in the familiar streets he walked down, having done so often and in large doses. He knew this town as well as he knew the mountains that held his family's summer home, which had recently fallen to him.
Jax entered the cafe just in time to see a figure jerk upwards, fear clouding his face before confusion and embarrassment took over. This was his endpoint: Ryan Jacobsen. Jax had known the younger man since he was sixteen, when his mother moved him to this small town in the north. They became fast friends, but it was not long before Jax began to develop feelings deeper than friendship for the other boy. Used to his typical falling in love and back out in a month, emotions that stuck like glue were quite a shock to him. Time went by, and still the intensity of his feelings did not fade. He had not revealed his interests before for the sake of their friendship, but he had the mind to change that that day.
"Ry!" Jax called, walking over to his friend's isolated booth in the corner. He took in his typical appearance, glad for the familiarity in it all. "How are you?" He asked, offering Ryan a friendly grin. Though he had reached the other's booth, he did not dare sit, lest Ryan was in a less than amiable mood and desired to be left alone. He hoped it was not so, but it was better not to cross any boundaries that did not need to be crossed.[/justify]
