I don't need a sample, I just need your soul dedication! It's a futuristic steampunk kind of world, where science and magic are blended together to create technology. I have a hard time describing it outside of the roleplay.

Anyway, shall I get the thread up?

And here's the first post!

Sebastian skipped down the hallway, clutching the results of their latest examination in his hand. His tail wagged vigorously, a hazard to all others nearby. "WE WERE APPROVED!" he cried upon meeting Alessia, showing her the crumpled-up piece of paper. "We get ta work in the field as an official team! Where's Ethan? We should go celebrate tonight!"

Note: DTs usually work in groups of three. As Sebastian is the oldest, he is technically the leader, though this does not mean he is best suited to lead.

ooc: Whoops! Should have mentioned that. A lot of careers such as DT and EP have their own headquarters as large as a city block or more. Students train there to get them accustomed to the vibe and allow them access to professional help whenever they need it. DTHQ is actually located outside the city and consists of several buildings. As Sebastian and Alessia are no longer students, they may decide to live within DTHQ dorms. Ethan is still a student because he manipulated the system to allow him to take the DT exam despite his lacking age requirements. This was discovered, of course, but because he got a decent score, he is allowed to accompany Sebastian and Alessia on missions as long as they keep relatively close watch on him.

Oh god sorry that was long. And yes, there is a library.

ic: Sebastian was still for a moment. "Y'know, Ethan would seem the type, wouldn't he? But come to think of it, I've never seen'm read a single book. Maybe he has some sorta book-phobia. Heh, wouldn't that be fun?" He grinned. He was so happy; surely nothing would be able to ruin his mood. Sebastian hadn't ever known what he wanted to be, but now he was absolutely certain that this was the right place for him. "But sure, let's check the library," he added, leading the way.

how many people does it take to rule the world?

not many, apparently.

Most humans are just that - humans. So blissfully ignorant, living their simple lives, day to day, with no concerns other than that of tomorrow. If there is a tomorrow.
Very few of those humans, and I mean very few - less than five at a time - aren't actually humans at all. We call them conjurors, and there's almost no way to tell humans and conjurors apart, unless you know something. But knowing something is usually what gets you killed.
Allow me to explain: Every conjuror can use magic, while no human could ever dream of possessing this amazing ability. In the old myths, conjurors discreetly directed the events of the world simply by existing. Their presence would bring happiness, wealth, and prosperity to all. However, there is a catch, of course. For every conjuror born, there is also a nova. Novas and conjurors are essentially the same, and when referring to magic people in general, we use the term "magus," and "magi" when plural. But, there is a single difference between conjurors and novas. It is this: While conjurors radiate positive energy, novas emanate negativity. Hate, despair, and desolation. It is the sole purpose of conjurors to kill novas, and novas to eliminate the conjurors. When a magus dies, a new magus of the same type is born immediately. This way, the numbers remain even. But because a child cannot fulfill the duties the world demands, the opposite race has more power, for a time.
Unfortunately, this is only the way it used to be. The magi have not been so secretive as of late, and humans are starting to notice some strange activity. All they do is interfere, unaware of how much it hurts them.

And, for a reason I can't explain, there's an odd number of magi.

rules:
No powerplaying, godmodding, Mary Sues, etc.
You may have as many characters as you can handle, but you may only have three magi.
Magi only have ONE form of magic, most likely falling under an elemental category (water, nature, light, shadow, etc.). If it's something general (such as telekinesis or telepathy) then it will be very limited.
Ignore the last rule and list your favorite dessert in the "Other" section.
Humans cannot use magic.
Swearing is allowed, but only when it is appropriate and censored.
Mature themes are permitted, but not encouraged.
Use proper grammar to the best of your ability.
Post length does not matter as long as the content is meaningful.
This plot is a MAJOR WIP. If you have ideas, feel free to mention them.
Type "magus" in the "Other" section of your form.

"Reading is cool, but it kinda gives me a headache," he said as they walked, standing beside Alessia as she opened the door. "Thanks," he said out of courtesy, putting in extra effort to hush his voice. Sebastian, having only been in the library, like, once, immediately became lost in the maze of bookshelves. He struggled to keep his tail from knocking everything over. After about two minutes of searching, he turned in defeat. "I don't think he's in here."

"No worries! We shall find him!" Sebastian walked a distance away from the library. "ETHAN!" he screeched, his excitement returning. "EEETHAAANNN!" He ran down the hallway, flailing his limbs, and attracting the attention of likely every student in the building. It wasn't long, then, before Ethan turned the corner and received an uncontrolled arm to the face.

ooc: There he is!

ooc: There isn't really one. Alessia gets to decide!

ic: "Ah, well, not really," he smiled sheepishly, rubbing face. "I'm still a student, but I can go on missions, apparently. Which means I'll be missing lessons. Wonder how that'll work." He thought a moment. "Sebastian, I could hear you from the other end of the building. What are you on about?"
Sebastian, unable to contain himself any longer, practically exploded with joy. "WE PASSED! CAN YOU BELIEEEVE IT?"
"Er, well, yeah... it shouldn't be that much of a surprise...."

ooc: Each DT team has their own office room in the main HQ building. Each office room on a particular floor is connected to a central "assignment room." There, lists of demons that need to be killed, captured, or tracked are listed. These are first-come/first-serve listings, unless a listing is specifically noted to be for a certain team. Kill missions usually take 1-3 days and are relatively low-risk. Capture missions usually take 4-7 days and are high-risk. Tracking missions can take anywhere from 3 days to several months, and vary in their danger levels. A mission typically consists of locating, tracking, and then engaging the demon (though, in tracking missions, the point is not to engage the demon).

ic: "I was just down the hall a ways," replied Ethan. "Not really doing anything in particular."
Sebastian jumped in. "We can go on a demon hunt RIGHT NOW! I have our room number, d'you wanna go check?" Not waiting for a response, he bolted to the exit. "It can be our celebration! We still have all day 'n we can go get a KM, like a baby demon'r somethin', then go out to eat at a fancy restaurant...." His voice became inaudible as he pushed through the doors and wandered toward the main building.

Ethan raised his eyebrows and gave Alessia a mildly confused yet amused glance. "I think we should follow him," he offered.

ooc: Thanks!

ic: "We can break all the rules we want today! WE ARE DEMON TRACKERS!" His excitement, though, settled a little at Alessia's question. "It's... uh," he paused to look at his paper. "321! Yes. On floor 3. This place is so organized, unlike the school I used'ta go to." Ethan accidentally slammed into the back of him, but since Sebastian was nearly a foot taller and weighed fifty pounds more, he didn't seem to notice. "Onwards! TO THE THIRD FLOOR!" he proclaimed, bounding up the stairs four at a time.

Ethan rested his palms on his knees, panting slightly. He generally wasn't well-suited for intense bursts of physical activity. "How does he... what...." He cleared his throat. "I'm beginning to see how Sebastian got placed as a Demon Tracker...."
