The dragon could understand but not quite speak human language. She dropped the flower and nodded her head, trying to be very clear. She knew this was a human gesture for a positive answer. Now that she met one, though, the "creatures of the land" didn't seem to be the dumb beasts that Ygami was told they were. In fact, just from the human's scent, tone, and body language, she could infer that they were probably a lot smarter than even the lions - who called themselves kings of the jungle.

"Obviously your method of 'avoiding meeting up with someone' includes loudly revving a CHAINSAW while calling for them to come out," Haro replies. "Also, this whole area where I'm standing is full of booby traps since you scared me half to death, so kindly wait a moment while I disable them." She points at each different hidden booby trap and deactivates them.

Fairfax's keen hearing picked up something. Pipsqueak feather mock-dragons and... another human? She straightened her neck and stood up to her full height, about four and a half feet, to peer over the three foot high stalks of wild grass. She stretched her wings for seemingly no reason, but in truth it was to make her appear more intimidating. Two humans... they were at least three miles away from the nearest town. What were they doing? How many more were there? Were they dragon catchers- or even worse, dragon hunters?

Ygami let out a low snarl. The other human had a claw- a long thin one they called a sword. With her tail, she swept under the feet of the human next to her, effectively tripping it and pinning it to the ground. Maybe she would bring home two roast humans for dinner.

She glanced quickly at the set of numbers. "Erm, okay... where exactly... is this?" she asks, pointing at the coordinates. "I don't mean to startle you," she begins in an undertone that only Saren can hear. "But I'm not sure I know what I'm doing. It's like a muscle memory, I guess?" she shrugs. "So... mhm. Yeah."
Enro continues to panic, which is not helpful.

"I'd really like to see you do better with amnesia," she mutters once he's asleep. "So, Garrett, and boy hiding in the corner, is there some kind of plan or do we just improvise?" Haro asks over the drone of the engine. She hits the switch that would reveal the map. After examining it for a few seconds, she makes a mental path to their goal. Wow, that's far. Only half a day? ...I'll make it one quarter, and show Mr. Experienced how it's done.

She knew it. They were dragon catchers; the female human was just a distraction until the weighted nets arrived. Ygami wanted to kill it so badly, but who knew how many more were coming? If she killed one human, the rest of them would hunt her down forever. Frustrated, she snapped her jaw shut next to the creature's ear intimidatingly, and took off, buffeting Thea with a powerful rush of wind. Struggling to fly with her injured tail, the dragon flapped her wings laboriously until she was hidden within the forest.

The hatchling nursed her wound, confused and hurt. She wouldn't be able to fly for a couple days at least. The human didn't smell like machines or what the other catchers smelled like, so why did she attack? All Ygami was trying to do was keep her still unless an actual enemy arrived. She didn't understand humans.
"Oh look, it's Fairfax," a voice said in the growling language she was accustomed to. "The dragon with the human name. Ugh, speaking of humans, you reek! What have you been doing all day, rolling around in human filth?" The voice belonged to Verivu, crimson-scaled dragon, about 6 feet longer than she.

"Oh... ah, okay." He hands Morgan her hammer, before asking, "So, the relics are north, right? So we should be going that way," Enro points after looking at the sun again. "I'd imagine that the closer to the goal you get, the more monsters there are, so I'd save whatever energy you have left and go for weak points or immobilizing them, instead of dramatically crushing their heads like earlier."

Haro doesn't comment, continuing to focus on the traps. Only two exploded.

"Shut up, Verivu," Ygami replies curtly.
"Miss waterscales is having a bad day," the male dragon says in mock pity. "Awh, you see someone with prettier scales than you? Oh wait. Nevermind, that's always." He snickers at his own derogatory joke. "Heh, what's that? You fall out of mama's birdie nest?" he asks, looking at her tail.
"VERIVU! GO AWAY!" she roars, sending wild animals scattering in all directions.

Ygami crawled along the deeply shadowed forest floor, leaving Verivu stunned by her sudden ferocity. She wouldn't be able to make it home before dark, and dark was when the dragon catchers came out. The foolish humans thought that darkness could hide them, but they were wrong. Nevertheless, a group of humans could be dangerous to small dragons like her, so she pounced upon a witless young doe and feasted, getting ready to stay awake for several nights. She settled back in the middle of the plains, where she could smell a human a mile away. Two familiar scents were slowly moving farther away, unaware that they were being watched.

The small black dragon fluttered onto a branch as wind buffeted him. Only a dragon of very large scale could have created a gust like that. As the air settled, the scent of wolves touched his nose. Wolves? he thought, the smell almost unfamiliar after so long. I hope they can't smell me. This was a reasonable request, being banished. He was a "blood traitor," after all, "foreign" by their standards. It'd been years since he roosted with other dragons. Let it be as it may be, he hummed to himself. I may be small, but I can handle a pack of wolves. He closed his eyes and arched his neck confidently, enjoying the breeze. He was only the size of a very large housecat, with a tail even larger, but there was a reason he'd survived as an outcast so long, and luck had nothing to do with it.

I want a dragon character of that's okay?

He began to pull the bones out of the deer. "No one's innocent. You have to stop and think. Was your brother faultless? I doubt so. And neither are you, now that human blood has shed on your account. What about their families? They'll hunt you down now, or kill another dragon to satisfy their desire for vengeance. And so begins the vicious cycle," he said casually, sucking on a bone happily.

    K?

Thea and Jason entered the nearest town, which was too small and beyond notice to have a name. Most people had evacuated since dragons settled in the forest that ended by the adjoining grassland, but the ones that stayed were not idle. The ramshackle outpost was home to many dragon hunters and catchers, who saw the Ash Forest - as it was called when dragons immigrated there - as a source of profit.
