[fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px;][justify][size=8]A knowing smile toyed with the corners of ebony lips, gently upturning the edges into something tentative. This whole expressive business still felt foreign to the typically stoic beast. "It is alright," a calloused paws raised into the air, halting the auburn hybrid's rambling. The same paws then moved to her skull, a single digit tapping her temple pointedly. "I know. Sylmae's thoughts and feelings are overwhelming - I just wanted to hear it from your own mouth." a tricky move, and she knew it by the way she gazed down at her paws. Melantha was pleased that at least someone care for Sylmae the way the way she deserved to be loved, but it also made Melantha a little sad. There were always people lining up to be with Mae, whereas Mel was lucky to find someone that even piqued her interest. It was one of those small jealousies between friends.

Try to keep it light, do not pour out your heart. She repeated this to herself as she considered her words in return to Cade's questioning. At this point, she did not mind telling him, she just did not want to drag him down too deep into the dark gloomy abyss that was her being. "He was... troubled. I knew that, but I was blinded by childish fantasies. Instead of helping him, I scared him away." only scratching the surface of what really happened. She failed to mention that he cheated on her and had children with another girl and that he had severe commitment issues and hated himself or that she still loved him. But it was a failed romance, and she needed to move on. She just couldn't. She was stuck, and that threatened all her hopes for future relationships, because if he came back, Melantha was not sure she would be able to stay away. Thankfully Cade continued on because she could feel herself slipping; her brain was always a dangerous place to roam. A slight nod was offered in agreement. "I understand. Everyone has their dirty laundry, I suppose." Melantha had a shxt-ton.

"Sometimes I just wish we could all be happy." Maker knows that she was not. Melantha merely existed: she no longer felt any passion for anything besides simple curiosity, everything she did was because it was her routine, she was completely unoriginal. If anything, she was alright for the time being, but nowhere near happy. "But you must suffer in order to appreciate the good times." And guess who was still waiting for the good times to return?

"It's alright, I'm just teasing." she reassured with a smirk. Cade's pep talk was unexpected, but did not go unappreciated. Now if only she believed it. A tiny, appreciating smile spread across her features for a moment before disintegrating into nothingness. They needed a new topic; something lighter because she could only handle so much melancholy before she withered away into a depressing puddle of dreams that were still dreams and broken promises. "So, tell me about yourself. Likes, dislikes, etc. I need to know if you are an appropriate suitor for my best friend." she sounded more like a mom, but that was what she was going for.

[fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px;][justify][size=8]Oh here came the angry best friend. She would not stand by and allow people to bash Sylmae. And what were the other people doing? Standing by and watching? Wow, that was really shxtty. Melantha recognized that they did live in an anti-clan, but it kind of went without saying that you do not bully your clanmates (or potential ones, in this case).

Calloused paws moved quietly across the forest floor, petite figure weaving between the trees with predatory grace as the solitary came to join Sylmae at the border. The voices and commotion had lured the elegant beast from the depths of the territory, coaxing the elusive predator into yet another social situation by taking advantage of her curiosity. Unfortunately, she was not very satisfied with what she found as she typically was. All she got were hostile clanmates and a young female whom was barking up the wrong tree at present. Sickly green orbs narrowed with clear displeasure, but considering the fact that Medea was blind, it did not really make a difference. "I do not appreciate how you are speaking to Sylmae, child." she stated in a frozen voice. It was spoken in such a way that somehow was meant to be a motherly scolding but came out like the words went through an ice box on the way out of her throat. The child was also strategically placed in order to capture the newcomer's attention.

"I do not know where you come from, but generally one does not go around insulting their intended clanmates. Anti-clan or not, I will not stand for your impoliteness. And frankly, whatever your history is with Sylmae, it does not excuse your poor behavior." Melantha did her best to remain professional, keeping her voice the same measured and icy tone as it began. She refused to sink down to the other's level. And if this was not resolved soon, Melantha saw no problem in finding Dodger and filing a complaint. Mel was clearly not a fan of ill-mannered people.

[fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px;][justify][size=8]Melantha successfully struggled to write out her story idea on a piece of paper and passed it over. It was heavily inspired by all the two-leg media she had been consuming in her spare time.

[fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px;][justify][size=8]"I certainly hope they do. That was five dollars of my paycheck I will never get back." she replied with a chuckle. Olive orbs flickered to the puppies, excited to watch them unleash utter destruction upon the symbolic teddy bear. She was never really a fan of dogs, as they required far more attention and love than Melantha could handle, but she quite enjoyed visiting Mae's puppies. They were very cute, and she could manage small encounters with canines. Dogs were just too high maintenance for the introverted women; cats suited her better. "Go fetch, puppers." the plant freak called out with a tiny smile as she chucked the thing across the room. The sound of nails skittering across the room filled her ears as she watched the young pups chase after their new toy.

She glanced back up at Sylmae, gazing into her friend's dark eyes as a small smile danced across her full lips. "You are just in luck," Mel replied with a quirk of her brow, reaching into the bag in order to display her cargo at a closer proximity. "But," she interjected. "No getting drunk. You are no fun when you are drunk. You are a sad drunk, so I'm keeping you happily buzzed." she shook a finger in Sylmae's face like a disapproving mother. But all the seriousness soon left her lovely features as she pulled out the matching shirts. "They say 'chicks before dicks.'" she said, showing them off. In all honesty, the slogan was a little misleading but poor Melantha interpreted it as something similar to sisters before misters. Mel scoffed. "You're literally wearing a baggy t-shirt now. Besides, it is the rule of being friends with someone that you have to wear matching ugly clothing at least once."

A hand came up to pat Sylmae's cheek once the girl's temple connected with the flesh on Melantha's shoulder. "No worries, dear. It makes me feel good to help out in any way I can." she reassured in a warm tone. "But you could always help out when I do tidy up around here." So was she being a mom or subtly flirting? Mel was oblivious to everything in general, but it is safe to say she was giving off mixed signals.

[fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px;][justify][size=8]A devilish smirk flickered briefly across angular features, highlighting the mischievous nature she harbored deep beneath the persona she commonly displayed. "I know, but it is more fun this way." The expression Cade wore at present provided plenty of amusement for the tricky creature, as it was exactly the reaction she was hoping for. "But truth be told, I had not planned to question you on such a matter." Ever the honest beast, she could not allow him to believe that she had set the whole thing up. It just kind of happened. Her mind often roamed, and she constantly shifted back and forth from being curious to respecting others' privacy. Typically she would not pry, but sometimes certain questions needed to be asked.

The concern and worry dancing within those gorgeous eyes of hers was enough to cause the regal huntress to look away shyly, sickly green orbs gluing themselves to her paws as they often had in her youth. It had felt almost as if Cade was gazing into her soul, tearing her apart and reading all of her secrets. It was an action she often did to others, but it was very rare that anyone ever looked at her with the same intensity. Time had taught her to grow accustomed to people being oblivious to her existence. Thankfully he did not pry any further, and she felt grateful for that. Some people just did not know when to stop.

"Yeah, well, I am still waiting to actually be satisfied with my lot in life." she sighed, gazing off into the distance. "And the good times just feel so far away." When was the last time she actually felt positive throughout her entire beings? She was about Cade's age, actually, and it was right after she and Kaiser got together. They were going to officiate their relationship and planning on having children together. Her father and siblings were still alive, and she was best friends with Mihael. It was such a long time ago, however, and those memories were fading fast. Why did she keep spilling her mind to Cade? She told herself she was going to stop but the thoughts just kept pouring out. Perhaps she needed to speak with another person more than she realized. Melantha was so focused on helping Mae that neither of them recognized Melantha's own problems. Not to say that Mae did not care, but Melantha tended to put her friends first, work second, and herself dead last.

Black-capped audits stood erect upon her skull as she listened with interest. Mel really enjoyed watching him speak; lots of diverse emotions flickering across a single canvas. She wished she could do that so easily. "I love purple," she breathed, once again failing to prevent the simple thought from slipping off her tongue. She coughed awkwardly. "Very interesting," she drawled, nodding her head once he finished. "Thank you. Is it my turn now?"

[fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px;][justify][size=8]A good hour or so then unknown travel deposited the young bundle on the border of Bloodclan's territory, the petite figure of Melantha Faber crested on of the rolling dunes. The blazing eye of the sun was at her back, slowly sinking into the westward horizon. The last desperate tendrils of brilliant golden light cast a bright halo around the edges of the female's figure until she moved into the shadow of the hill. It was just another end to just another long day of nothingness. Patrols, scuffles, hunting, talking. Everything was nearly the exact same as what occurred the day before, and the one before that and the one before that and the one..... But one could not discern the boredom from the wildcat's features, for she had long since perfected the art of a poker face.

A few seconds of roaming in this particular area, refreshing scent markers and checking the landscape, and a soft noise tickled her ears. Was that whimpering? Suddenly filled with curiosity, calloused paws unconsciously steered the lithe huntress in the direction of the noise. She was not surprised, but rather intrigued, to find the small pup laying within a wicker basket. "Oh," she breathed softly, olive eyes shining in adoration. Melantha loved children, and she had always longed for some of her own; hence the dreamy reaction. But there was also some concern present within her features. Who could have abandoned such an adorable creature? "Hey Kiddo... Shh, shh, it's alright. Calm down.." she cooed, gently stroking the pup's head with a delicate paw.
