[fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 300px; text-align: justify; font-family: trebuchet ms; color: black; font-size: 10px;]☠ nicholai hissed in contempt at the werewolf. "watch it, mutt. or you'll stay in that cage," he snapped, none too gently yanking the cage door open and fastening the collar around his neck. he was surprised at the very little amount of resistance he got to putting the collar on, but he shrugged it off. at least the collar was designed to fit in whatever form he so chose to be in, otherwise it would be a pain to have to readjust the collar every time he changed.
as he led the werewolf out of the dorms, he kept his eyes trained straight ahead, not wanting to look down at the creature beside him. at least he didn't have him on a leash. that was one of the most degrading things you could ever do to a werewolf, and almost all the other dogs that lived here were restrained on leashes. and didn't get to go hunting. nicholai felt a twist in his stomach as the thought that he was pampering this mongrel slipped into his brain. heh, yeah right. he just didn't really want anything to do with ryder. there was no need to treat him like shit when he didn't even want him.
as they exited the manor and began their trek over the ground, nicholai inwardly groaned at the smell of tainted blood. great. it was these guys. the young vampire had always preferred to hunt alone or with the tenor hunters, who actually had the sense to clean their weaponry after every hunt. these hunters were just slobs. they must have gotten wind he was going to go out on a hunting trip. fucking great.
"let me deal with them," he murmured so only ryder could hear as they approached the group. their raucous laughter drowned out any shred that they might have heard as the two walked up to them. one of them turned, dipping his head respectfully to the young noble but bursting into laughter when he saw the werewolf. "you brought a useless mongrel with you? what good is it going to be?" before ryder could do something stupid, nicholai gave a warning hiss and let his hand shoot out to grab the man's shoulder. everyone instantly fell silent. glaring coldly into the other's golden eyes, he turned the corners of his lips down into a frown. "do not insult my property, hunters," his voice was cool and dark, and he let go of the man with a little shove. "and we are not going with you today. i am assigning you to another unit on the east side of the manor, near the human town of belleville. there has been another sighting there," he instructed, the authority in his voice leaving no room for question as the hunters dipped their heads and turned, walking back up the path nicholai and ryder had just came from.
nicholai turned, waiting until they were completely gone before sighing and readjusting his inky black hair, tightening the ponytail around it. he always had it in a ponytail when he hunted, and a proper bun everywhere else he went. the only time he ever let his hair down was when he was alone by himself in his room, which was pretty much never. "there was no other sighting. i just don't want those poor excuses for hunters joining as on our hunt," he informed ryder as he finally turned back around, taking off with long, quick strides through the woods. he picked up his speed, knowing the werewolf could easily lope at his side, as they entered the thick brush of the adjoining woods. "i take it you know about the level e hunting practice?" he questioned, glancing down at ryder to check for the affirmative.
