In order to begin the festivities, I'll start by posting my political compass here.

As well as just throwing out some hot topics for discussion and/or questioning. Recently (as in, only a few hours ago as of writing this), the United Kingdom passed a bill saying it would leave the European Union. Within the hours since it's passing, the United Kingdom's stock market has all but crashed, with the country going into the largest recession since the 1980s. To coincide with this, Japan has barred all trade to the UK, and British Prime Minister David Cameron stepped down from his position. Despite all of these things, Netherlands Prime Minister candidate Geert Wilders has since proposed a similar idea for The Netherlands. How do you guys feel about this? Is it a good thing, or is it a slippery slope that will lead to the crash of the European market?

Ultra Lore/Story Thread (Urgent Read): https://feralfront.com/index.php?topic=2397941.0

March 27th, 2017: A spy working for the Russian government steals an American bio-weapon being worked on in Arizona. He is able to flee with a sample of the weapon all the way to Los Angeles. Unfortunately, after 7 hours of searching, the spy was shot after a standoff with police, and the bio-weapon was not found. Effects of the weapon were largely unknown, so scientists decided to study the city to see if any potential problems arose.

April 1st, 2017: CNN reports first signs of potential "zombie infection," but the populous mostly overlook it as an April Fools Day prank. LAPD are dispatched after several infected, however.

April 3rd, 2017: Compton, San Francisco, and Fresno report first signs of infection, at this point WHO has gotten involved, and is now studying effects of the virus. Infected in LAPD custody and infected in FPD custody have similar symptoms.

April 10th, 2017: Dozens of cities along the West Coast report signs of infection. Infected cities include: Seattle, Washington, Los Vegas, Arizona, and even Vancouver, British Columbia.

April 12th, 2017: WHO puts out report on a disease not too dissimilar to Mad Cow. It causes extreme aggression, anti-social attitudes, and manic attitudes. Supposedly transferred via transfer of fluids, and takes about 4-5 days to take effect. Further information updates would come along the month.

April 15th, 2017: WHO files an urgent update for the report on what was affectionately dubbed the "Zombie Cow Virus", in the update is a new name, ZCV-458, and another possible means of infection, Water.

April 17th, 2017: Hundreds of cities across the United States are reporting instances of ZCV-458, America has gone into a state of emergency, and has closed off any and all ports. The most quickly infected areas include major urban metropolises include New York City, Chicago, and Miami, alongside LA, Seattle, and San Francisco. Atlanta, Georgia has set up a quarantine zone, and is testing civilians for signs of infection. Atlanta is closed off to all outside travel, and Hartsfield International closes with it. WHO secures the Atlanta Water Purification Plant, and ramps up precautions in the purification process.

April 18th, 2017: Reason for infection in California is definitively linked to the United States' Government. Riots erupt around the country, as peacekeepers from the UN move in to prevent further damage. Washington D.C. is converted into a quarantine zone, and is closed off from all outside travel.

April 19th, 2017: LAPD is unable to control rioters and infected, and portions off a small part of the city around the police department. Quarantine measures in D.C. have amplified to killing any infected encountered. United States President Donald Trump is airlifted to a safe zone in the U.K.

April 27th, 2017: UN Peacekeepers, as well as US Military and Police forces retake Boston and set up a quarantine zone there. President Trump gives out a speech about the infection, in a feeble attempt to calm the populous, but fails miserably. Riots in New York reach the deadliest they've been since Harlem.

April 30th, 2017: Peacekeepers set up quarantine Zones throughout the East Coast, leaving the West Coast for dead, only airdropping bottled water supplies from D.C. every month. California and Washington are considered dead zones by the rest of the country, and those who couldn't leave have left most all major cities.

May 2nd, 2017: California erupts into a feudal state, with gangs and other factions carving up the state to their own liking. Water Purification Plants have become warzones, and opposing factions wage war in the streets of L.A.. Despite the best efforts of LAPD to expand their reach, they have only gained about 4 miles of ground.

May 12th, 2017: CNN reports that the infection has reached Europe, despite the best efforts of the United Nations. Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland are the only countries that were able to close borders in time. Paris is currently on lockdown, and the Royal Family has been airlifted to the American Safe Zone.

May 25th, 2017: LAPD, SFPD, and FPD, all re-establish communications throughout California. Zombies have overrun the power plants supplying Fresno, however, and shortly after connection is made, almost all of it ceases.

This RP will take place in California, starting in LA. The City of Angels has been overrun with zombies and gangs, while many civilians work together in this time of strife. LA is carved up into 5 major sections in the big city, while even more factions dominate smaller counties and subdivisions in the more remote areas of the city. Throughout pretty much all of California, water supply has been cut off by zombies, so water is an absolutely precious resource for all characters. Any water source near LA is infected, so the only water your characters will come across are the bottles still left in stores, and the bottles dropped in by the UN.

Keep in mind that, despite all of this, a large portion of Los Angeles still has power, so things like computers and even Wi-Fi work in certain parts of the city. Remember this when making character.

    RULES:
    1. No overpowered Mary Sues. If I have to spend the time reading your posts, they better be decent. If your form is just slapped together (Meaning, without a hint of effort), I will ban you from the thread with zero notice. I read all of the responses to me threads, and it dismays me to have my time repeatedly wasted.

    2. Not everyone knows parkour. Coming from someone who actually does IRL, very few people will be doing it, and if they do, there is a very good chance you know them.

    3. If you're younger, you are less experienced than adults in a lot of things. Reflect that in your character if you wish.

    4. If I can't read your post, I will not hesitate to deny you the right to RP here.

    5. California is a big place, home to many different people. Because of this I am going to be a lot more relaxed when it comes to character history and birthplaces.

    6. No more than two characters at any given time. If you want to have a new character, kill one of your current ones off.

    7. These zombies are not necessarily slow zombies, but they aren't necessarily fast zombies either. (Further elaboration in the lore thread linked above. Read it.)

    8. This isn't The Walking Dead. Everyone in this RP knows what zombies are and will call them as such.

    9. Keep your forms realistic. If I see a 15 year-old girl that somehow became a brutally violent gangster and also carries a 50-cal sniper rifle, a sword, and two Desert Eagles, I am not going to even waste my time with you. You will be denied with extreme prejudice and banned from further threads of mine.

    10. Don't make a single post on my thread and then bail. This is the sort of thing that actually kills well-made threads. If you plan on going inactive, please announce it on the OOC thread linked above.

    11. If your posts aren't longer than a single sentence, I will just ban you from the thread with no notice. This thread is very much semi-advanced/advanced oriented.

    12. If I have more than 10 major complaints against your form, I will ban you from the threads with no warning. Explanation will be in-thread.

    My Form:

    Appearance:
    Name: Andrew Hiller
    Age: 16
    Gender: Male
    Religion: Atheist
Date of Birth: December 17th, 2000
Place of Origin: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
    Education: Sophomore in High School
    Job: N/A
Equipment: A folding knife, a Fender Dreadnought acoustic guitar kept in a gig bag, a backpack with an attachment point for the gig bag, 4 bottles of water, a lunch box with a few days worth of beef jerky and ramen inside of it
Skills: Decent enough at guitar, does parkour, well spoken and well read for his age
Flaws: Cynical; extremely so, lazy under most circumstances, hostile towards most people, sleeps for an extreme amount of time, has a fear of arachnids, rather akward around most people, severe, crippling social anxiety
Clothing: Jeans, a purple t-shirt, a jacket is kept inside of his backpack, running shoes
History: For the first 5 years of his life, Andrew lead probably the least interesting life you could imagine. He played with toy trucks, developed the usual social skills, and went through both Junior and Senior Kindergartens. By the time he was 7, he moved to LA with his family, starting over his father said. It was over this time that he began to develop as a cynic. He had trust issues, and was very frequently a loner throughout school. By the time he made it to high school, he had improved, but not by much. He still preferred to stick to talking to his same small group of friends, and was very easily agitated by most people. This almost led to a fist fight during his Freshman year, and which eventually turned into him starting a band. This musical venture was purely for Andrew to vent his frustrations, playing for the fun of it with his two closest friends. Eventually, after a few years of playing, he won the talent show at his high school in his Sophomore year. This new-found popularity bothered him, but he wasn't going to object to being around fellow music lovers. Once the infection hit, Andrew's parents were some of the first infected taken by the LAPD. After being checked for no signs of infection, he was let go.

I'd like to start moving OOC discussion away from my thread so that the RP and sign-up process goes along more smoothly. Anyone involved in the RP, or who is simply curious about what it is all about but doesn't want to read a few paragraphs can talk here out-of-character.

    Actual RP/signup thread: https://feralfront.com/index.php?topic=2391625.0
    OOC Discussion: https://feralfront.com/index.php?topic=2392561.new#new

This thread is exclusively for those involved with the RP, who wish to further flesh out it's backstory. This include further discussion of your character, who they are involved with, who their friends are and what happened to them, etc.. This also includes the ability of anyone involved to create their own threads about any involved characters and link them here. Essentially, this thread is more of a character discussion and backstory thread than a plotting one, but I like the term, so I'm keeping it.

@Spaghetti, your character would be 21 at the time of this RP (going off your birthdate), otherwise you're accepted. You had a good form!

@Xandria, despite a bunch of edgy bs that I would personally remove (I actually almost denied you blatantly on account of seeing paganism, but I'll let it slide on account of not contradicting my own rules), my big issue with your form is that you don't have a birth year for either character. Do the maths yourself, fix it, and you're in. My other issue is that I can't see much of a use for the little brother as a character. I'd like some reassurance that you'd actually RP as him and not just use him as some background character for your obvious main character.

OOC: Aight, you're accepted. Seeing as we have a fair amount of people here, I am going to kick off the thread. Any further OOC discussion that isn't forms or me accepting/giving advice on how to improve forms should be moved to the OOC thread. Here is the link: https://feralfront.com/index.php?topic=2392561.new#new

IC: Andrew had woken up to gunfire. Every day for the past couple of weeks had been gunfire. The crack of the rifles of opposing gangs had become common enough that people were sleeping through it. In his groggy state, he could barely find the time to care about the noise. He was hungry, and sleeping in a ditch for the night probably wasn't doing much to help him. The lunchbox he had found the other day was filled, but he wanted to make it last as long as he could.

To hell with conservation, he thought, I'm starving. As he opened up the box, food packages fell out, with the distinctive sound of ramen bags falling to the floor. Seeing as he didn't want to waste his water, and he didn't have a pot OR a stove to cook the ramen, he immediately went to the beef jerky. Upon opening the first bag, he devoured almost the entire thing in a few minutes. Now that that's out of the way, he thought, before packing the lunch box up, and packing it in his bag.

He had to get the hell out of dodge almost immediately. The city was a warzone, constantly moving and shifting with the time of day. He reckoned he had about an hour to move before his current position would become a grave, and he didn't like those chances. As he got up, he threw his backpack over his shoulder, picked up his guitar case, and got on his way- running through back alleys in order to avoid zombies. If this was going to be life from here on, it was much less glamourous than the movies. Really, more than anything, it sucked. He assumed it was the same for the rest of these movie tropes, anyways.

OOC: Some minor things I'd request changing, after which you are accepted:

    1. I'd like for you to specify what town/city you are from in Florida.

    2. Because I am in a nitpicky sort of mood, this one isn't really required, but Atheist and none are pretty much one and the same. Don't have to change it if you don't wanna, that is your call.

Andrew kept turning corners, occasionally stumbling as he moved towards some nebulous goal. What was the point of this whole endeavour, anyways? To stay alive? His friends were dead, as his parents likely were, and the zombies he was trying so hard to avoid would probably be able to corner him faster than any person could. What happens from there is unknowable to him.

As he turn another corner, his pant leg got caught by something, and he fell on his side. Rolling over, he realized what that something was: a zombie. Panicking, he reached into his pocket to grab his knife, but that fell out when he fell down. The only thing he had to do was yell for help, and hope it came.

"Somebody help, god damn it!" he yelled, as loudly as he possibly could. From here, all he was able to do is struggle and hope for the best.

    OOC: Gots it! You're accepted

@.marcola, my less-than-stellar personal opinions on fancypost aside, I think it'd be nice to get rid of the invisible scroll. I find it easier to read when the font isn't so small. I guess it is my fault for having horrible eyesight.

IC: As the zombie took a screwdriver to the back, it got noticeably more pissed. However, instead of completely averting it's attention, it let up it's grip on Andrew just long enough for him to escape and move to his knife. Grabbing it, he scrambled to his feet to assist his new-found ally. As the zombie attempted to get up, it also moved forward towards him in a motion comparable to watching a man recover from being tripped. Now it was do or die, as his first real tango with death began.

What felt like forever likely only lasted a minute or two. Dancing around the zombie's first charge, he swiped with his knife, missing completely. He charged forward, closing his eyes as he blindly thrust his knife forwards. The sound of the knife breaking flesh disgusted Andrew to his very core. When he ripped out the knife, the zombie collapsed, obviously in pain. The news wasn't lying when they said the zombies were still technically humans, despite how much more aggressive they've become. Backing up from what he did, he tripped over his own backpack, falling on his ass like a dunce. Seeing as now was as good a time as any, with a dying zombie only a few feet away, he addressed his saviour.

"Thanks, I would've been killed had you not arrived," he said, still shaken by what had just happened. He hoped there wouldn't be any more zombies where that came from.

Sounds cool. For me, I'm at my grandparent's and all I really have to do is this and my guitar. Found a riff I like the sound of, and I also started writing lyrics for something back home. I may or may not pursue making it into a song. One thing I will make sure to do is notify people via both this thread and the main one when I am making the day-long return trip to my place. Don't wanna leave the thread hanging for a day on my whereabouts.
