Hey Petal! I've been having a little trouble with a couple things, so if you'd let me bounce board them off of you a little, that'd be awesome.
So, I've discovered that the more I try to keep things short the longer it gets. Right now the guide keeps getting longer with a short intro, a rather lengthy history (that I am both in love with and conflicted about), a semi-lengthy blurb on their beliefs with the Oceans of Stars (now divided into the Moonlit Pool and the Dark Supernova), another really lengthy blurb on their "Cup of Covenants" which includes, only the one oath (to simplify a little) and then combined the other traditions such as:
Their names, a slightly new one called the Storm Festivals and the inner Tempest that every kit has to manifest (either in song or dance, so it opens up a lot of room for creativity - of just nabbing them a theme song), the four Passage of Rites (the Rite of Recruitment, of Marriage, of Retirement and of Award) which all have a lot more to do with meditation and a spiritual connection to the ocean of stars, and something called Guardian Familiars.
Then we have Monsoon Island which isn't complete yet but will have everything on their home territory.
Following that, we have my major problem. The Order of the Storm Borne; basically? the ranks.
I'm tempted to erase the idea of having four factions and instead have these: the Expedition Division, the Military Force, the Specialist Team, and the Ceremonial Sector.
The resulting changes of the ranks would be this:
The "Alpha" would instead become Director (of the Expedition Division) and assisted by (two?) Special Agent(s), the regular members would be Agents.
The General (of the Military) would stay the same, as would the Lieutenants, and the Mercenaries.
The Chief (of the Specialist Team) would stay the same with Supervisor, but we'd have the opportunity to make these members into a variety of different jobs if having so many wouldn't be detrimental. Such as Trap Specialist, Medic with a sub division of Field Medic and Battle Medic, Ninja/Assassin, and even Poison Specialist just for a few. They would all count as basic ranks but be considered different Jobs they could consider when joining.
Another major difference would be that the Priest would change to Cardinal (of the Ceremonial Sector) and under them would be Priests. Then you'd have an additional change in the Recruits, they would be called "Acolytes" while they live with the Sector, primarily while they're learning to call forth the inner Tempest then have the option to become a Recruit and study to be one of the fields or choose to remain an Acolyte and eventually become a Priest (which would be a regular rank but with semi-high position attributes).
Finally, I am currently debating the inclusion of a class system referred to as the First Order and the Second Order. (With the possibility of opening up a Third Order for ranks of servitude for those that have been disgraced, left a member behind during a raid, disobeyed commands, for punishment, or even for absolving new nations, I don't know...) This would mean the First Order would contain:
A Sovereign, or Emperor/Empress, The Storm Knights and the Lords and Ladies of the First Order. The Storm Knights would be just a fancy additional title for heads of the different divisions (only exclusion being the Ceremonial Sector which operates on its own), and the Lords and Ladies would be their assistants. The only rank that would be passed down by family, or blood, would be the Sovereign rank.
The Second Order would contain most of everyone else: the Agents, Mercenaries, Specialists, Medics, Assassins, Veterans, Priests, Acolytes, Recruits, Mothers, Kits.
I don't know if I should include all of that however, so what do you think?
On another note, I'm also thinking about adding in a few extra details about the Storm Borne Champions (SBCs). Let me know what you think about it because I am very conflicted:
So, I'm thinking that the SBCs lived in what used to be a very populated human island (they were initially brought there by human), and so they've assimilated a few "Human" like things into their society (including names). Things such as maybe ribbons which they use to differentiate ranks(?), like they put a red one for the military and a white for the ceremonial sector? It'd be fascinating. And maybe even like add in a few other things they've found in abandoned homes (where they would actually choose to live) since the humans disappeared after a hurricane swept through the land and no one ever returned, making the island something akin to "uncharted" to humans.
I don't know, I've been fascinated with this idea in a couple of other groups I've been seeing around, and been apart of, and I really want the SBCs to be epitome of everything I love about this game, but I still don't want to over do it by too much.
On a closer to final note, I would like to ask you, PetalDance, to formally be a moderator of the SBC. This would mean that you would have the same power I would over: accepting applications, enforcing rules, demoting characters if they are inactive, inappropriate for the rank, etc. etc. You would also have the ability to make "allies" or "enemies" with other clans/tribes/groups if you feel up to talking to other clan owners, etc. Basically, you would have the power of a Co-Owner.
Finally, I promise, I am thinking that since I am pouring so much into the SBC, would it be appropriate for me to make a subaccount just for the SBC. However, what I'm really tempted to do is make SBC the main account and Arz the subaccount. I'm not sure what this would do to my current sub accounts, but it would give me some freedom. And others would be able to become subs under the SBC as well if things ever went that far. Of course, I would probably offer it to you and to other moderators if this takes off, but I am still not sure. So I will keep it as a sub for now and maybe unlink it later?
Thoughts? (and I will be posting the new template sometime soon... Just have to get it... completely revamped first... hahaha)
