Galestar, known personally only by the oldest of clan members, was a traditional yet progressive leader who was well-liked but not always seen as the most personable. He was arguably BrightClan's most work-oriented leader, because he focused solely on his clan since the moment he entered adulthood. When he mysteriously lost his last two lives, his successor Orcastar proved to be a harsher force to be reckoned with. He was, undeniably, an extraordinarily fierce warrior but also incredibly ambitious - it was no surprise when Galestar announced the young warrior, Orcapelt, as his right-hand cat when he became older and after the death of his late deputy. He lead the clan through rough patches in his earlier years, and gained popularity amongst a select few through this; but others questioned the way he went about things. A relatively quiet, and independent clan was forced into more battles than even senior warrior had experienced in their whole life time during the period Orcastar lead the clan. Towards the end of his leadership, his mind was obviously diminishing, and he was becoming an even more destructive and disruptive figure to the point where it seemed he would cause the demise of a long-standing and powerful clan. More and more cats looked to his deputy, Brinefrost, to care for important decisions. She was a powerful figure amongst clan-mates and it was well perceived by most when she took matters into her own hands after Orcastar banished a handful of warriors and apprentices. The two power-heads traveled to the Mooncave together to finish things once and for all - it was controversial when a small patrol made up of the medicine cat and a few other warriors returned with the deceased body of Orcastar and Brinefrost was now Brinestar. Not much is known about what happened, and Brinestar hasn't shown she is open to talking about it. So far she has lead BrightClan in a similarly traditional fashion as Galestar but her leadership is only in its youth, and a lot will change in the coming moons.
PREY'S RUNNING BrightClanners' prey source varies from common field mice to the rare birds of prey that require parties of great skill to bring them down. They generally hunt throughout the crags of their mountains, and occasionally utilize the freshwater waterfall, and river that lets out into the sea somewhere. Below is a list of common, uncommon, and rare prey that BrightClan cats will see during the many seasons.
PREDATOR WARNING Hidden away from the prying eyes of most groups of cats hasn't halted the dangers that lurk in their mountains. They don't always have to worry about all of them, but there are some that could present themselves as a hazard more commonly than others. Below is a list of the common, uncommon, and rare predators that BrightClanners may run into.
CLIMATE BrightClan has been known to endure many a hard leaf-bare in their mountainous sanction, but they always come through them in the end. This season in particular they are contending with some strange regions of snow accumulation after the rainy leaf-fall's mudslides. Random, and well-hidden drifts of deeps snow prove to be a hazard, but even more so is the lack of prey. The frozen river, and low number of land prey and an increasing number of predators also looking to hunt has forced them to look towards the sea as a source of food to the distaste of many. Day time highs tend to run in the 20's - 30's while at night the temperature usually drops to the cold single digits, or lower. Sleet threatens the sky, but so does the smell of snow that follows it which some worry may cause an avalanche - something they haven't had to worry about in the past two leaf-bares.
CURRENTLY In the aftermath of the quarrel between the deceased Orcastar and Brinefrost - a new leader emerged. Brinestar has recently returned from the Mooncave after receiving her nine lives to some mixed reviews, but the clan will have to stick together to ride out the harsh season. The inner clan clash left a few cats injured as well as tensions high so keep a look out for the medicine cat, and tread lightly. Next on BrightClan's agenda is appointing Brinestar's deputy. There isn't a stand out contender amongst the clan although many are worthy of the post. The clan is expecting Brinestar to call a meeting soon to announce her successor, but how will she choose after the death of her ex-lover, and beloved leader?
