There he sat, impatiently awaiting the arrival of his target, in small tree grove just outside the village. On the largest branch he could find he leaned his back against the trunk and sighed, "Where is he? There is no reason he shouldn't be here. All of the information I gathered led me to hear so why has he not shown?" He mumbled to himself in great frustration. He lifted his right hand to remove his charcoal black hair from his eyes, "My information is never wrong, but he should be here by now." He growled as he swung his right hand to take his anger out on the tree. His fist missed and the momentum of the swing pulled him off of the branch he once sat on, "Woah!" He exclaimed as he caught the branch with his left hand and, with cat like reflexes, wrapped his legs around the branch making so he hung upside down like a sloth that had been dropped on its head as a child. He face turned red as the blood rushed to his head in embarrassment. He shook his head and couldn't help but smirk as he thought about his sister and what she would say, "Sairen be careful! You are so clumsy sometimes honestly, if I'm the younger sibling why is it I'm always having to watch you?" He imagined it so well is was almost as if he could actually hear her voice. He reached upward into one of his various pouches and pulled out a rather realistic sketch of her that he had done on some parchment with some charcoal. He smiled as a single tear ran up his face and into his hair. But the moment was ruined by some rustling in the shrubbery down below.
"You know you aren't very subtle." A voice called up to him. Sairen looked down, which at this point was upward from his perspective, to be face to face with an elderly man. Surprised, Sairen yelped and accidentally let go of the branch, face planting the ground. "I know I'm old but i figured they would at least send someone competent to come assassinate me." The old man wheezed. Sairen pushed himself off the ground and dusted himself off, "I take it you know who i am then." Sairen said calmly. The old man examined him up and down and then shook his head, "Can't say i do young man. But are you alright? that was quite a fall?" The man replied. Sairen grunted angrily, he had worked hard for his title and notoriety, "Does the name Sairen mean anything to you?" He asked to old man. The elderly man began to laugh, which became a phlegm infested cough and wheezing, "My boy you can't be Sairen, He's the most notorious assassin there is, a man like that wouldn't yell while hiding and fall out of a tree." Sairen winced in pain, his pride was shot, "Just shut up, I'm not here to kill you anyway, I'm here for information, they want to know where your son is, He's caused us a great deal of trouble." Sairen explained in a harsh demanding tone. The old man shrugged, "Haven't seen him in ages, if you do find him, i heed caution, i would also tell your superiors to send the REAL Sairen that boy is not someone to mess around with." Sairen grew angry and impatient, "Very well." Sairen turned and began walking away. After about two or three steps he stopped, "By the way old man, do you know why no one has seen Sairen or knows what he looks like?" Sairen asked. The old man scratched is head, pondering the question, "I guess he's good at what he does." The man replied. Sairen reached his right hand into one of his pouches, then peered over his shoulder with a large smirk on his face, "Not quite." Sairen said. Then with no time wasted, and no hesitation, as Sairen turned toward the old man, pulled out a throwing knife, with almost inhuman quickness, and threw it. The old man fell to the ground. "Many say he's a man without rules but the truth is he has one.. No survivors." Sairen said as he retrieved his knife and walked away.
Before Sairen could make it out of the grove and back into the village something caught him off guard as it lunged out of the bushes and left a gash in his left arm. Sairen grunted in pain and fell to the ground, as he looked up there it was, a shade. It took the form of something close to human, with shadowy misshapen blades as its arms. Sairen stood up and took a defensive fighting stance, with one arm incapacitated he grinned, "I hope my superiors know this will cost extra." He said as he pulled out four throwing knives with strange charms hung on the hilts and placed one in each gap between his fingers, "Let us go then!" He yelled in excitement. The shade lunged with a ferocious demonic screech.
