Fallenstorm's claws were slipping faster on the ice as he struggled to hold on to the slippery ice. He was flailing his hind paws to trying and find a hold on the sheer cliff path. "I can't hold on any longer. Shadestar, I'm sorry." He said in complete fear and sorrow for the leader. Knowing that it was she who had to talk to Echoflare. That it was her who had to break the news of his death. That it was she who had to handle his grief struck brother. That it was her who had to help her brother, and the clan pull through his death. He had slipped to the edge unable to pull himself up he slipped off the edge before Shadestar could grab him. He fell through the air the cold whipping at his face. When he crashed to the ground the impact was to much for his body. He laid still on the ice his face expressionless, his body cold, not just from the wind and cold of their territory, but the cold of death. The smell of death that so many dreaded was the one scent on him. There was also a small trail of blood coming from his mouth from the ice shards that had cut the side of his face and body that was now laying on the layers of ice and snow at the bottom of the snow peaks.
When Echoflare heard his brothers name all time seemed to stop for him. He pushed towards where the body lay. "No!" he yowled when he saw that his brother was lying on the stone floor lifeless and bloody. He buried his muzzle into Fallenstorm's fur, hoping for his to open his eyes and comfort him. "no, no, no." He kept muttering. His tears were soaking the bloody fur as he layer next to Fallenstorm's body. Mallowtail padded over to Echoflare and settled down next to Echoflare pressing her nose to his dead brother's fur. She sighed and let her tail rest on top of Echoflare's trying to comfort him. "I'm sure Shadestar tried to save him" she mummered softly into his ear. Echoflare ignored Mallowtail's attempt to help him cheer up just a little bit. "It doesn't matter. He's still dead." He said sharply in a harsh tone. The voice just came out of grief and sadness. He buried his face further into his brother's thick coat of fur. Shocked by Echoflare's sudden harsh tone, Mallowtail got up from where she was sitting next to him and padded away into the Hunter's den. She curled up in her feathery nest and drifted to sleep.
(From Starclan)
Fallenstorm watched from Starclan as Shadestar carried his limp and lifeless body home to Echoflare and the rest of the clan. He was just thinking about his brothers reaction, and Sunblaze's. His apprentice had been someone he could talk to when he couldn't talk with Echoflare. He let his tears fall wanting to be their with his brother, and his clan. The dead apprentice, Brightpaw's, spirit padded over to Fallenstorm's spirit. "Don't worry. I felt the same way when I had to watch my litter-mates suffer after my death." she said quietly. Fallestorm looked up at the apprentice. "But, he can't handle this on his own. First our parents, and our sister, then me. He going to go into a state of grief and mourn for ages." Fallenstorm said his tears rolling down his face. "He may, but I think there may be one cat who ca help him through it." she said pointing to Mallowtail in the scene who had padded over to join Echoflare. Fallenstorm nodded. "I guess so." He said. His tears had stopped falling as he watched his brother. He felt another body brush against him and he looked over to see his sister. "Fernwing?" He said in shock. She nodded settling down next to him and pushed her fur into his. She had died only 5 days after she and her brothers had become full members of the clan. "He'll be fine. He has Mallowtail, and us to watch over him." She murmured into his ear.
