As if Alex could sleep with with a vampire in the same room as her. There was no glass panel separating them, nothing to keep him from biting her in her sleep. There was not one good reason why she should have trusted him. After some misgivings, she crawled onto the tattered couch and huddled far back into the old leather surface. "Is there where you live?" she queried, plainly disdainful. |

So he had lost everything he had, huh? Hmph. It was bound to happen to a vampire at some point in their eternity long lifetime. Nobody could live the high life forever. She turned away from him, sighing as she stared at the door. She knew she was locked in there with him and, even if it weren't locked, it was doubtful that Fangsy would be letting her out without a single problem. She hugged her legs to her chest and, with her chin resting on her knees, closed her eyes. As long as her neck was shielded, she figured she would be fine. Unless he got desperate and went for a wrist... Oh, who knew when it came to vampire? |

"...I don't know how much the word of a vampire is worth," she began. The disdain in her voice made it sound as though she planned on telling him off. "However, I'm going to hope you're not a liar as well as a kidnapper. Good night." She uncurled her legs and slid down to lay on her stomach. The leather was cold on the bare skin of her arms. She was uncomfortable, cold and- however unlikely it was that she would admit it- frightened. Even so, it had been a long day and an even longer night. She slowly began to drift off, hoping that somewhere, somehow her mother would be coming for her. |

I wasn't quite sure of what to do, but one thing was for certain: I couldn't just leave her out there to suffer and possibly die. "Alright, just listen to the sound of my voice. Try not to fall asleep. If this, er, boyfriend of yours is still around, it's not safe for you to be out here," I made note as I reached out to pick her up. I figured if I could just get her to my house and perhaps clean her up a little, everything would work itself out. I didn't want some random girl under my care, but I couldn't leave her there with a potential threat within her vicinity. |

Having been given quite the scare, Alex scrambled off the couch and made a disorientated sweep of the unfamiliar room. Where was she? What was going on? Where was her bed or her- Oh. Right. She remembered her daring escape of the previous night. The one that had ended in ultimate failure? Yeah. She clenched her jaw and forced her muscles to relax, though her prior panic was still obvious by her hammering heart and heavy breathing. |

"She taught me to defend myself with weapons. She's waiting to teach me how to hunt until I turn eighteen. And not to hunt wildlife, if that's what you're suggesting I do." Again, her family was of inherited wealth. Money was passed down through the generations, as well as the family business. In other words, she'd always had a pantry of store-bought food at home. Never once had she stooped to measures as lowly as hunting animals. Some of her snappiness spawned from the fact that she was still a bit shaken from her dream, and she couldn't even remember what had happened in it! All she remembered was a black pathway and a flash of white. |

[color=forestgreen]"Hush. Relax and listen to the... the cicadas. It's going to be alright." My bleak attempt to reassure her was pathetic at best. If she was going to die, then she was going to die and nothing I could do or say would stop that. The knowledge that somebody was dying in my arms was a familiar one that struck a dagger of pain through my heart. If she became a vampire under my care, then I wasn't quite sure of what I would do. Teach her? Abandon her? I peered down into her struggling face and swallowed hard. We approached my car and I opened up the back door to lay her there. "I'm going to take you to my home, okay? No hospital can do anything for the kind of wounds you've received, believe me." I remembered my own death with a bitter shake of my head. |

[color=forestgreen]I immediately shook my head. "No, you're not going to die." If she did happen to die, it was better to die in a state of oblivious content than painful awareness. "I just- You were bitten. By a vampire... The marks on your neck and wrist will arouse suspicion at any ordinary hospital, and we can't have that happening. I have items at home that may help, and... I'm not certain that you aren't becoming a vampire yourself." I only hoped my older brother wasn't home tonight. As I spoke, I closed the door and got into the driver's seat, starting up the ignition. I looked into the rearview mirror, back at her. "Unless there's somewhere else you'd rather me take you?"

[color=forestgreen]At her little comment, I chuckled and shook my head. "Most vampires do," I explained as I backed out of the parking space and pulled out of the park. Once we were on the road, I continued. "But there are some enchantments that can help prevent that. Mine? A ring." Without looking back at her, I held up my free hand to reveal the dull silver ring on my ring finger. After a while, I chewed on my bottom lip and spoke up. "My name is Eli, by the way. Oh, and we're almost there. Are you feeling any better? Do you think you could walk?"

[color=forestgreen]"Sania Cutter." I repeated with a slow, thoughtful nod of my head. It was a pretty, albeit grim, name. Soon enough, I pulled down an opening that was all but hidden among the greenery of the trees. It was a long, overgrown driveway that led right up to the large home I shared with my brother. His car wasn't there, so I hoped that he wasn't either. "Here we are," I muttered, pressing the brakes and pulling the key from the ignition. I was quick to go around the vehicle, opening the door for her. "If you can't walk, I'll gladly carry you." I offered, holding out a hand for her to take. |

[color=forestgreen]I furrowed my eyebrows, confused by this revelation of hers. "Oh? I'm Sorry... If you'd not picked it up, I'm kind of a vampire too." There was no point in hiding my own identity if she was already well aware of the existence of vampires. I pulled her up and started towards the door. "Do you think you can make it?" I questioned, stopping halfway to the porch and tipping my head to the side. |

[color=forestgreen]With a sympathetic nod, I wasted no time in sweeping her small frame up into my arms. "I'm not the kind to drink from humans," I admitted, somewhat abashed as I carried her up the cobblestone steps of the porch and pushed open the door. The house was warm which meant the fireplace must have been going. My brother enjoyed keeping it on for some odd reason. "My brother, Oliver, however... is the opposite. Here, now just lay back and relax while I find something for you to clean your wounds with." I set her carefully down on the couch. |

[color=forestgreen]I headed into the kitchen and opened up a drawer where most of the rags were kept. I wet two of them with warm water and returned to Sania a moment later. I was sure she was doing much better than she had been when I first found her. Now that her wounds had been given a little time to settle, she just had to be doing better. Perhaps, after I helped clean her injuries, it would be alright if she rested a little. "Here. You can clean the wound on your wrist. I'll care for your neck." he explained, sitting down next to her and carefully drawing her hair to the side so he had better access to her neck. |

[color=forestgreen]"Probably, but it can be covered by jewelry. Bracelets help." I answered, maintaining a modulated voice as I concentrated on cleaning off the dry blood running down her neck. I dabbed softly at the areas closest to the fang-marks, unable to keep myself from sighing and shaking my head. "Why did he attack you in the first place? This Devlin guy, I mean?"

[color=forestgreen]"Well," I uttered once I finally managed to get past the layer of blood caking her skin. "You don't have to cry or be afraid now. Because I'm here, and I'm not going to let anyone hurt you." With a smile, I pulled back and stood up, crossing my arms over my chest. "Are you tired?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "I'd say it's safe enough for you to rest now if you'd like to."

[color=forestgreen]I bit my lip, a ruminative curtain falling over my eyes. "I don't know how I could... help you. My brother keeps blood bags in the fridge if you want to get blood the vampire way," I offered uncertainly. I'm not sure how drinking human blood would affect a human girl who was just bitten, but there was one way to find out. I sighed and crossed my arms. "That's all I can think to do."

[color=forestgreen]"I... Well, what's your blood type then?" I asked her, furrowing my eyebrows. I always tried to remain level-headed in chaotic situations, but this was beginning stress me out. I didn't want her to die. I felt terrible for all she had been through and wanted to ensure she live a long, healthy lifetime... At the same time, there was a possibility that she may have died right then and there while I had the chance to offer her my own blood to drink so that, if she did happen to die, she would become a vampire. Decisions, decisions. I tapped my finger to my chin as I watched her. |

[color=GOLD]I watched from the doorway, my arms crossed over my chest and a smirk on my face. Awe, how cute. Little Brother wanted to play hero with some human... girl. Hm. I strode forward, staring down at the unconscious girl. "Tough luck, Brother. She passed out. I say we kill her and you give whatever blood she has left to me? Or we could split it 50-50, but I know how you are." Eli narrowed his eyes at me.
"Nice to see you're home..." he muttered. "Look, do you have Type O blood in that fridge of yours?"
Type O? Eh, it was rare and when it comes to the blood banks, you kinda just take what you can get... But it just so happens that I may have had one pack. "Maybe I do, maybe I don't," I shrugged, raising my eyebrows at him. "Either way, why does it matter? She'll choke to death on it if she's unconscious. All you can do is wait for her to wake up." I smirked. |

[color=GOLD]"But she'll die if we don't do something," argued Eli, at which point I rolled my eyes and spun around to head into the kitchen.
"Look, was your little friend here bitten or something? If you want her to stay alive so bad, then just give her some human blood and boom. No more problem. Either way, things aren't looking too bright and sunshiney for her so if she chokes on the blood and dies, then she'll become a vampire because at least it'll be in her system. If you decide not to give her any, then she'll lay there and I'll have to deal with burning a body." I clasped my hands together, standing in the archway between the rooms. |

"Where are you going? Am I going to be handcuffed either way?" she demanded, her eyes flickering back up to meet his for a brief moment. How early in the morning was it? Oh, she hoped her mother's employees were already scavenging around for her. |
