    100 years or so after the defeat of the soul eaters by the listener and his companions,
    The clans had settled down once again,
    but the stories of the listener and his companions were not forgotten
    and the stories have been passed down for years.
    While some fights did break out between the clans as the years went on,
    all were minor and nothing appeared that became as much of a threat as
    While the Far North Clans, Sea Island Clans and Mountain Clans remained un eventful,
    within the deep forest a new clan appeared,
    going by the name of Gecko Clan.
    This new clan claimed that they came from a much further away land,
    a land very similar to the deep forest.
    The Gecko Clan managed to arrange for some territory to be given to them in
    the deep forest.
    Sadly, despite these seemingly good start they ran into a lot of trouble with
    the Auroch Clan. The Auroch Clan claimed that they were only here to invade and take
    over the deep forest, just like the invading species of lizards that had started to appear.
    Eventually, Gecko Clan was driven off from the deep forest and
    looked to the open forest for help.
    Eventually they received help from Willow Clan and Raven Clan and Salmon Clan,
    who let the struggling group have a small patch of territory from each of their own
    Gecko Clan thought things would be OK from now on, but sadly,
    even now things were going on that seemed to make them the enemy.

    A B O U T U S



    Gecko Clan is a Chronicles of Ancient Darkness roleplay (Michelle Paver) that is based 100 years after the defeat of the soul eaters from the original books. Torak and Renn and other characters from the books are no longer alive but the stories of their adventures are still passed on throughout the clans, especially Raven Clan. Soul Eaters are also no longer around, though there can still be people who believe that what they were doing was good.


    We are only accepting 4-5 people at the moment, however your can have as many characters as you like, however you must have one main character that you must actively use.

    P L O T


    After Gecko Clan settled in the open forest territories, in which they were very grateful to the Salmon Clan, Raven Clan and the Willow Clan for giving up some of their own to allow the group to settle. The Salmon Clan however did demand some food of Gecko Clan's food at the time however to make up for the loss of territory, since they lost the most out of the three clans.


    However, the Auroch clan did not rest, they started to spread rumors, at first people started to think they were evil, but it was dismissed out of common sense, but form that came the assumption that the clan was weak and too kind for their own good. This angered the Gecko Clan, like it would any clan and while they didn't really seem to respond to the other clans apart from try to defend themselves, there was anger amongst the clan itself. Sometimes even violence came out, but luckily, those who were violent were punished, some even outcasted in serious cases but this didn't seem to halt the anger amongst the clan.


    Outside of the clan, unbeknownst to them, murders, poisoning and thievery was becoming frequent in other clans, however the three close friends of Gecko Clan, Willow Clan, Salmon Clan and Raven clan remained almost un effected.


    The crimes were left with but one thing behind. It was left with the Gecko Clan tattoo somewhere on the crime scene, however it had been changed like as a shape like ^ was left on the elbow side end of the Gecko Clan tattoo, making it almost a corrupted version.


    While Gecko Clan tried to deny that it wasn't them, despite the very similar clan mark that was left behind, some members started to believe that this new group was doing good for Gecko Clan, and even went as far to try and encourage others to follow them to join the group, theses members were outcasted and while Gecko Clan managed to maintain friendship with the Salmon, Raven and Willow Clan, who actually stuck up for them rather surprisingly, the erst of the clans grew angry and tensions are getting high.

    T E R R I T O R Y


    Their territory is shaping so it goes towards the north, and is like the rough shape of an oval and also cuts into the hills slightly. It is formed on top of the very eastern parts of the Raven Clan territory and Willow Clan territory, but a lot of it's territory comes from the Salmon Clan where Gecko's Clan's territory took up almost half of Salmon Clan's Eastern territory, but Gecko Clan is extremely loyal and grateful to Salmon Clan in return for this, but this doesn't mean they aren't grateful to Raven Clan and Willow Clan also.


    The territory is mix a mix of thick forest (but does thin out the further West you go) and hills, especially towards the Eastern part of the territory, Gecko Clan's camp is placed on top of hill yet almost all of their hunting and foraging takes place in the forest or rivers and streams.

    F O O D


    If anything, the Gecko Clan is very good at using everything when it comes to cooking. From plants to meat to fish to even insects, they can turn anything into food, and tasty food at that. They're very good at making plants and bugs into rather tasty food, and would often give out food that contained bugs and plants at the clanmeet. They would then wait for the compliments on their cooking and then, almost as if doing it mischievously, tell those who ate it that it contained bugs.


    While they do eat bugs, they are careful what what bugs they do eat. While their not very prone to disease because of this diet, they can catch disease if they eat them raw, young children especially.

    T R A D I T I O N S


    When they moved to the forest they understood that their ways fro their own land may have to change in order to fit in. They very quickly learned about the world spirit, not killing your clan animal and magery and all sorts. They picked up a lot of their ways from the Salmon Clan, and Salmon Clan accompanied them to their first clanmeet also. Raven Clan helped them with magery, and how to spot more powerful possible mages. Willow Clan taught them how to craft and sow to make clothes that would help keep them healthy in the winter, and in summer. They learned a lot of their cooking and recipes from the clanmeets however, and are still picking up recipes.


    However, they very skilled climbers, and like the gecko, they can climb almost virtually smooth surfaces (with enough training, at least). It helps them hunt and locate various things. Therefore it is tradition that all young children must know how to at least climb trees before they can be permitted to have a mate from their own clan.


    They start being trained in climbing as soon as they receive their clan mark at 6 summers old, at which point they are allowed to leave their mother or fathers as often as they like but still must remain supervised until 10 summers old.


    Lizard Clan is incredibly peaceful and kind, and believe that unnecessary violence against anyone or anything is respectable in every way, and punish anyone who does become violent for no good or valid reason. They have outcasted numerous people because of this, but this means now that the clan is very safe and friendly towards everyone which may one day be their downfall.

    The tattoo is two small red stripes going up the wrist, not going onto the hand. With the palm facing down, the clan mark should be centered on the wrist and facing towards the sky. The clan tattoo can be on either wrist for either gender. The colour should be red but the shade can vary depending on what you use.

    The imposter group uses this edited tattoo of the Gecko Clan tattoo to 'mark' their victims. They would engrave it on the ground in front of robbed areas, on murder victims, dead and unused clan animals (of the clan being 'attacked'). On humans and animals it would go on the wrist in the same place as normal Gecko Clan members, which is where the confusion comes from. The only difference is the tattoo has a ^ facing towards the hand.


    This group as far more aggressive, and most of the group is made up of outcasted members of Gecko Clan, the rest are people from other clans or even non outcast members of Gecko Clan. They break a lot of rules and laws amongst the clans, and generally cause a lot of havoc.


    Since the Gecko Clan is still a new Clan, not all clans recognize the mark and sometimes confuse the two groups.

    ::Personality:: Particularly stubborn, so much so when you first meet her you might as well believe that's her only trait, the only one who seems to get around this stubbornness with ease is Flint. She's also incredibly defensive of her sister, and will quickly jump to her defense if something was to happen, making her incredibly protective and while she doesn't shelter the girl it doesn't mean that Rin will just let Flint wander off without a care in the world.


    After she can at least knows you a little, she starts to open up a little. She finds humor out of insulting others and annoying them. She's generally quite cheerful and peaceful, especially when she's cooking or climbing. She gets very worried about the people she cares about, especially Flint, who is pretty much the only thing that she focuses on apart from finding her brother, but her sister does come first. She cares about her sisters feelings and while she can seem a little harsh, she does play along with her sisters ideas and stories and likes to teach her sister how to do things, and even though she knows that her sister would be safer at the Lizard Clan camp, she doesn't want to be alone as even though he doesn't want to admit, she's very prone to loneliness and needs company. She's quite blunt about her opinions of others, but doesn't like seeing other people getting hurt and certainly doesn't like being violent, mostly because of how she was raised in her clan. She's not really very organised, but tries to have a bit of a routine for eating so it's healthy for her sister, without Flint, Rin would probably be very lazy, and a lot less careful.


    She isn't respectful at all to people she doesn't like, and will often argue and insult relentlessly, and is also very competitive, especially towards those fro other clans as she wants to prove her Clan, isn't as weak as what they're teased about, but knows she must tread carefully on the reasons why she acts like this with the new imposter group going around.


    However, her personality does seem to alter slightly depending on the situation, but no matter what: Flint comes first


    ::Likes:: Flint, cooking, salmon cakes, company
    ::Dislikes:: cockroaches, birds, her mother, the imposter gang and the Auroch Clan
    ::Strengths:: cooking, climbing and fishing. She isn't good at making actually clothes but loves making accessories out of willow branches and leaves. She can also do basic magery, but has forgotten a lot of it.
    ::Weaknesses:: Swimming and running, or anything that requires a lot of power/stamina from the legs, holding her breath, she's claustrophobic and hates tight or cramped spaces, which often means she sleeps outside of any shelter she's made, which she wouldn't made for Flint. She was never taught to swim and was the clan never focused on teaching those below 12 summers to fight so she picked up what she knows now out of a few minor lessons on self defence and out of instincts. She's not very good at hunting large prey, like deer or birds. She's not particularly good at making clothes but is good enough to make previous clothes fit again and fix tears. She struggles with making winter clothes but at least tries to make sure that Flint has some, even if it means trading her own food for some.
    ::quirks/skills:: Cooking (especially with bugs and plants), climbing (including almost smooth surfaces) and crafting things out of willow, she almost likes to chew on willow, and it helps calm her down when she's stressed out.


    ::History:: Rin was born and raised in Gecko Clan and lived alongside her brother for the most part as her also had to spend a lot of there time with her younger sister Flint, but she didn't resent her sister for this. She liked how it gave her more independence, but had been a little jealous at first.


    While Rin did very easily learn how to forage and climb, like most people in her clan, she very badly wanted to take up magery and became close friends with the clan mage and would spend hours and hours learning about how to see prophecies and was well on her way to becoming a mage. Sadly, her chances diminished when a boy took interest and the mage noticed things about the boy that seemed to make him more powerful, and the mage told Rin that she would have to abandon magery and seek out another path in life.


    When she was 10 summers old, and the imposters group was beginning to take a toll, a man approached Rin and her brother and started to tell them about a new 'clan' that was recruiting others. The man said that it was apart from Gecko Clan, and was like a sister clan and this clan was going around checking out new territories and keeping the clan safe and strong. He tried to convince them to go, but Rin refused but her brother gave no reply. One night, when she was 11 summers old her brother disappeared through teh night. The two had been very close, so Rin was extremely upset and set out to find him but her younger sister had followed her. Her parents, who were obviously upset to see them go decided to let them leave but only as long as they came to the clan meets and came back every so often to visit as while they didn't want their child to leave, they knew that Rin's need to find out what happened would stop her from ever being able to settle. She's been looking for him for 2 summers now.

When Rin was kicked out of magery Flint was upset for her, but was told that there was nothing she could do


    When Tounak disappeared she was obviously upset about it, but was more distressed when Rin went to leave, so followed her out of camp and refused to leave her. Her parents and Rin tried to convince Flint that she would be safer at the camp, but still the girl refused and stuck with her sister. They formed a compromise; Flint and Rin would go to every clan meet and come to camp occasionally, but were free to live outside of camp and look for Tounak.

    Gender: female
    Age: 6 moons
    Rank: Apprentice
    Appearance: (obviously smaller but the apprentice version didn't have the markings I wanted)
    Personality: Pretty nervous and very polite, she loves to learn and is very keen to become a warrior. She tries to see the best in everyone and loves being around others but likes time on her own to relax. She's pretty much scared of everything, and prefers to fight with words rather then tooth and claw, but will do what she has too if required. She also likes talking, but enjoys listening too. She can be quite excitable, but is able to settle down quickly again. She can also be a bit of a pessimist.

    Gender: female
    Age: 20 moons
    Rank: warrior
    Appearance: light grey tabby with dark grey ears and has long , springy legs.
    Personality: Eagerly tells stories to anyone who will listen, she always tries to keep what she says interesting. She loves to swim and fish and run around. She's a bit like a kit trapped in the body of a warrior, however she , like any good warrior, would put her life on the line for the clan and can become serious quickly when she needs to be.

    Rank: warrior
    Appearance: Dark grey tom with a white chest and underbelly, and has quite a big build.
    Personality: Quite serious, but enjoys seeing others happy and generally has a very good temperament for anything and tries to be optimistic but knows when to accept the truth. He likes hearing and seeing 'positive' things, like smiling and purring and laughing and seeing cats be happy in general. He'll always offer up his food to somebody else if they need it more.

    Mosspaw lay down, relaxing in some shade near the nursery as she watched a rather colourful beetle hurry over a rock. "Why the rush?" she chuckled to herself as it almost fell off the other side. She wasn't sure whether or not her mentor needed her, but was sure that Shellfur would find her if she was needed.


    Jaypoppy was happily eating a small mouse, trying to end the peckish feeling that was forming in her stomach before it became a bigger problem.


    Raven claw was grooming himself not far from Jaypoppy, looking around occasionally to survey his surroundings.

    Mosspaw jumped to her paws, her fur slightly bristled from the surprise of her mentor calling for her. "Coming!" She called and quickly ran over, she didn't want to keep him waiting. "What do you need me for?" She asked as she approached him, her tail swaying slightly. The heat sure was strong today, but she was managing for now.

    "Oh, ok" she was actually quite glad they wouldn't be spending much time on it, she never really liked practicing fighting moves anyway, since she didn't really like fighting, alas, she knew that she had to do this is she wanted to become a warrior.

    Mosspaw hurriedly ran after her mentor, starting at a trot which was originally all she needed before breaking into a slow run so she she could keep up as her mentor sped up. She wasn't particularly fond of running, and wanted to ask him why they were going so fast but kept quiet, this could be apart of the training after all.


    Ravencall had joined the clan meeting last minute and was able to hear enough to know that Rosebud was now the deputy of the camp. He called out Rosebud with the rest of the clan but dispersed at the same time as them and sat quietly near the entrance.


    Jaypoppy had joined the clan meeting at the start and was overjoyed for Rosebud. "Yeah, go Rosebud!" as the clan dispersed she wandered around camp, trying to look for something to do.

    Mosspaw was slightly out of breath by the time they got there. She wasn't used to running for such a long time. She trotted over to the other side of the training field and tilted herself at his instruction. She never really practiced her attacking in the nursery and preferred to listen to stories. She gave a guess and sped across the clearly as fast as she could go, but suddenly skidded to a halt in front of her mentor, having lost her 'spur of the moment' courage. She hated the idea of disappointing her mentor, but simply had no idea on what she was meant to do.

    Mosspaw flattened her ears back and seemed to shrink back a little. The answer was obvious enough,s he didn't need to say it. She felt horribly embarrassed. "I just, I preferred listening to stories, a-and fighting never seemed like the best way to spend my time. I mean, I tried to practice hunting and stuff with the other kits, but it always turned into play-fighting." She said, to try and explain


    Jaypoppy and Ravencall heard the commotion and stood outside of the nursery, both unsure on whether or not to go in. It sounded like help was already there.
