Strikepaw was on the move. He spotted a plump rabbit messing around with Windswirl's patch of marigold. Good.... A two for one deal. Medicine cat herbs and a nice rabbit to give to Tigerfrost.... Strikepaw slipped into his hunting crouch and inched forward.

Time seemed to slow down as the rabbit suddenly turned and saw him. Strikepaw was too late to realize he was actually upwind. Fox dung!! As the rabbit turned to escape, Strikepaw gathered all his power and sprang almost three fox lengths away to land on the rabbit. His pounce connected him with the rabbit but close up the rabbit was actually almost as big as he was! As his paws fell on the rabbit, the rabbit panicked and dealt him a couple swift blows with it's claws catching Strikepaw on the cheek and across his muzzle. He let out a screech of pain then growled," Don't mess with our herbs!" Strikepaw tumbled with the rabbit and almost lost his grip as he fell to his side. However right as the rabbit began to squirm free, Strikepaw jumped on top of the rabbit and dealt a killing blow to it's neck.

Strikepaw rose triumphantly as he looked at his fresh kill. " HA! That'll teach you to mess with the mighty Strikestar of SwiftClan!!" He bounced around the rabbit and then suddenly stopped , aware of his kit like behavior. Then he looked at the patch of marigold. The marigold was flattened and pummeled thanks to his struggling with the rabbit.

Strikepaw flattened his ears, embarrassed and ashamed. Wow, I'm a first class mouse-brain. I just messed up what I was trying to protect. Strikepaw began to sniff through the patch to see if he could salvage any of the marigold.

Lotuspaw woke up with his tail lashing. Lotuspaw was still upset that he was left behind for the gathering but not as much as he was about Winterpaw going here first day here. He stalked into the clearing and headed to a soft patch of grass in the camp clearing. time to do what I do best.... Nothing. he laid on his side and began sky gazing.

Strikepaw looked at Nightpaw as she padded up. " I-It wasn't much." Now he was really embarrassed because Nightpaw had seen him fooling around when he was supposed to be hunting. The scratches on his face began to sting.

"This rabbit was a worthy piece of prey... It actually scratched me up!" Strikepaw was a little impressed by the rabbits display of courage.

Strikepaw blinked gratefully at Nightpaw. Nightpaw is such an awesome cat. She's going to have toms falling over her left and right. Strikepaw helped her with the marigold and covered the rabbit so that e could pick it up later.

"After we get this marigold situated, we should see how everyone else is doing." He meowed as left the rabbit to stand by Nightpaw.

Lotuspaw lazily watched as his clanmates happily buzzed around doing whatever they pleased. He knew he shouldn't be sulking about the gathering and the kittypet, so he decided it was time for some self training. Lotuspaw had to keep his battling and hunting techniques as sharp as an eagle's talons. Lotuspaw was almost 10 moons old. He would be the oldest apprentice besides that kittypet. He was a tail length way from becoming a warrior so he needed to stay sharp.

Lotuspaw got up and gave himself a good grooming before heading out. He padded past Leafwhisper and mumbled, " I'm going hunting. I'll try to score something juicy for the clan...." Lotuspaw didn't wait for a reply as he heade out of the camp, tail lashing.

Lotuspaw's paws were bursting with energy as he pelting through the forest. He had just finished killing two mice and he was racing after a hare. He was right on it's hindpaws as it heade for it's burrow. You won't escape! I won't let you! With a snarl, he pounced, but in the same moment the rabbit veered right and jumped into it's burrow and Lotuspaw landed on empty ground. As he landed he skidded on a pile of leaves and tumbled into a tree and knocked himself out.

Lotuspaw wakes up in a daze. How long was I out? That stupid rabbit..... I need more agility training... Lotuspaw shook his head and then gave himself a shake. Then he padded back to where he hide his mice.

Lotuspaw gets back to camp and drops his nice off on the fresh kill pile and looks around. He watches as Dapplepaw leaps at Lepordstrike snarling.

Lotuspaw bounds over to them to intervene, " HEY! What's going on here!?!?"

    Mapleshadow~

Mapleshadow arose from her den. The commotion outside was too much to bear. These young cats never learn. What's an elder got to do to get a good nap around here? I had better stop lazing around. The mentor ceremony is today so I must get myself together. My little Sparkpaw will get his mentor today. the once beautiful she-cat purred with delight as she exited her den.

"Violetgaze," she nodded towards the queen, " it seems you have your paws full yet again!" She said with a good natured mew.

    ~Stormfang~

Stormfang was growling when he woke up. All he had heard for the past couple of minutes were bickering kits and Dustystripe was making a big ryuk us laughing at them. So help me StarcClan if he doesn't shut his face, I'm going to shut it for him. Stormfang realized his brothers nest was empty and had lost some of it's warmth. He must have gotten up to watch the sun rise... Again. Stormfang began to groom himself. I wonder who's going to be the mentor for Sparkpaw. He seems like a cat ready for anything.... It might be fun training him.

Stormfang padded out of the den. " Good morning Violetgaze." If any cat was more ill-tempered than he was, it was Violetgaze. She'd claw a cat's ears off if they weren't respectful to her and to cats around her.

    ~Rustlekit~

Rustlekit lifted his head and looked at the sudden commotion. Nightkit had made so much noise, he couldn't help but notice what was happening.

" Nightkit.... He just attacked Silverkit for nothing...." Rustlekit glared at Nightkit.

    ~Mysticwhisker~

Mysticwhisker was already there and ready to see what was going to happen.

    -Sparkpaw-

Sparkpaw leaped from the underground burrow and bolted to the Skystone. He'd been waiting for this moment ever sine he promised Mapleshadow that she would never have any more worries once he became a warrior because he'd always protect her and the clan. It was finally time to train hard with his new mentor and show everybody just what he has to offer

    Stormfang~

Stormfang stalked across the clearing to sit beside his brother. "Well... You seem excited. Any cat would think you got chosen to become Sparkpaw's mentor." Stormfang chuckled slightly.

    Mapleshadow-

Mapleshadow made her way to the Skystone. It was finally time for her little kit to start his real training. She couldn't be more proud. She craned her neck to she her best friend's kits sitting close together and talking. Stormfang and Mysticwhisker....... I'm curious to see how you two will turn out.... she thought to herself. As she looked at them memories of her dearly departed friend, Cloudsong, came flooding back.

Ugh.... It's this kittypet business again... Lotuspaw had lived with Dapplepaw for a while and had gotten used to seeing her fit in with clan life. The only difference was that even though Dapplepaw had kittypet roots, she grew up in a clan. To Lotuspaw, that made her way more of a warrior than Winterpaw could ever aspire to be, but it only reinforced the fact that your past is not what makes you, it is your actions that do.

"Lepordstrike, calm down..... Trust me.... I hate kittypets just as much as the next clancat... But Dapplepaw has been with us.... She feels more clan borne than that newcomer loner kittypet...." He growled as he thought about his earlier spat with Winterpaw.

Lotuspaw had nothing to say about that. He was just as furious. Even though he may have acted like a kit, there were so many others qualified to go. Lotuspaw at in between them in case they began to trade blows again.
