Cherrypaw awoke at Sabreteeth's loud yowl to Palestar. She grumpily hopped up from her nest and padded into he clearing of camp to see what the commotion was about. There, standing at the deputy's paws, where three little kits, tumbling around with wide eyes.

Foxkit looked around with awe at the sight. Cats. Everywhere. She crouched down low, trying to hide herself from all the narrowed eyes pointed at her and her siblings.

Cherrypaw trailed behind the two other apprentices, lost in thought. Her green orbs where focused straight ahead while she thought. Not paying attention to where she was going, she walked face first into a maple tree. The impact had caused the leaves to rustle and fall onto her and the other apprentices. "Mousedung!" Cherrypaw hissed, shaking the leaves from her calico pelt.

Foxkit looked around the nursery, determined to explore every corner and crevice.

"No harm done to you!" Cherrypaw growled. "While I'm over hear with a big bruise on my head!" Cherrypaw hissed, but not loud enough to scare off whatever Splashpaw was stalking. "Sorry for being grumpy," she muttered.

"I sure like it! Come on Obsidiankit, lighten up!" Foxkit mewed cheerfully. She pranced around the den, inspecting each nest. "Wow, I didn't know you could sleep on a nest of moss! All we slept on was catmint!"

"Stupid fish. Stupid water. Stupid everything!" Cherrypaw growled, digging her claws into the ground. She parted her mouth, tasting the air for any scent of prey. Fortunately, she scented a squirrel. Crouching low to the ground, making sure her haunches were even, she slowly creeped forward. Spotting the squirrel nibbling on nuts beneath an oak tree, she leaped. Landing short, the squirrel spotted her and started to run away. Not letting the squirrel get away, Cherrypaw stuck out her fore-paws, grabbing its tail. Dragging it towards herself, she nipped its neck, killing it. She buried it, then wandered around in the woods once again.

Cherrypaw wandered around the forest a bit more, and found herself at the forest' edge, where the stream ran straight across it. She saw Lionpaw and Splashpaw at the rivers' edge, and thought about going down there and atleast trying to swim. "No!" Cherrypaw thought to herself. "I'm never stepping foot in a river again! I shouldn't even consider it!"

Foxkit poked Hyenakit curiously with her fore-paw, "Why are you so small?" She asked innocently.

"Okay! Poisonkit, you can come out now!" Foxkit cheerfully mewed, poking Poisonkit's tail that stuck out from behind the mossball. "Heyenakit, you can be an apprentice and Poisonkit can be your mentor! I'll be Foxclaw the medicine cat, and Obsidiankit is Obsidianstar since he's leader and Poisonkit you need to choose your warrior name." She said all in one breath and started heaving for air. Recovering herself, she leaped up in the air with joy, "Lets start!"

Cherrypaw stared in awe at Lionpaw swim. "I could never swim like that," she thought angrily. "I'm just a stupid excuse for a cat that's too scared to get her paws wet!" She hissed aloud, plopping onto the soft grass, staring intently at the two apprentices fish.

Cherrypaw loudly snorted with laughter as Lionpaw attempted to catch a pike, only to repeatedly fall back into the water, failing miserably. "What a big furball," she laughed. It felt good to laugh, all the stress that weighed her down was now floating, drifting, far far away. She turned her head towards Splashpaw, "I just thought I'd stop by to see Lionpaw fail at catching fish." She stuck her tongue out at Lionpaw teasingly.

"We're doing great!" Foxkit mewed gleefully to Sabreteeth.

Heatherpaw awoke to bright morning light shining into the apprentice' den. She squinted her sparkling violet eyes, trying to block out as much light as she could. Padding outside into the clearing of camp, she made her way to the fresh-kill pile, nosing around searching for a bird. Finding a robin, she drug it to the corner of camp and stared to tear into the juicy flesh. She could feel the bird restore her strength. Finishing it, she licked her golden brown tabby paw and drew it over her delicate head. She have her chest a few licks before laying down. Heatherpaw closed her tired eyes and stared to doze in the sunlight.

As soon as Lionoaw had out her back on shore, she collapsed with exhaustion. She relaxed at the feeling of dirt beneath her paw pads. She heaved for air, and spoke roughly, "Lionpaw, I swear, I'm going to get you back if it's the last thing I do!" Her dripping calico fur was sticking to her skin like glue. As Lionpaw pulled Splashpaw in, Cherrypaw ducked, avoiding most of the water that sprayed her way.

"Hi Poisonfang!" Foxkit mewed joyfully. "Come on Hyenapaw, lets have hunting lessons." Foxkit turned towards her "apprentice" and crouched down to his size and softly whispered in his ear, "We need to catch Sabreteeth's tail. I'll distract him while you sneak up and catch it, alright?"
