[size=8]Mentor and apprentice? Just friends? Or father and son? Curiosity made itself evident in Eaglewhisker's otherwise stern gaze; his pawsteps were light as he responded to the aged warrior's call. "What sort of story are you telling?" it wasn't often that non-elders told stories, or so he thought. Then again...Brackenflame had quite a bit of experience under his belt, and the brown and white tom wasn't surprised he had stories to tell.

[size=8]"I don't know what you're talking about! We just had a session." Lichenpaw's playful scoff was directed at Sandstep as the glossy-furred apprentice bounced over, attempting to bump his shoulder against Minnowpaw's in an upbeat greeting. "Hey, Minnowpaw." a sympathetic grin appeared on his face at her tiredness, sky-blue eyes soft. [b]"You tired from fighting with Smokebreath?"

[size=8]Lichenpaw wasn't sure if he believed this elder. His favorite food was fish and his mother always told him that he'd grow big and strong if he ate enough fish; and sure enough, he was indeed showing those first hints of broadness in his shoulders and chest. His coat was glossy and shiny with good health, and above all, he had a lively gleam to his blue eyes that showed his energy and his fitness. Water voles? He didn't want to eat a water vole, but he didn't want to disrespect Fishpelt, either. "Good to know!" chirped the flame point, gamboling over and watching the tawny tomcat.

[size=8]Cedarstrike was glad to see the day winding to a close. Despite his love for his life as a warrior, nothing could diminish the sweetness of laying down next to your Clanmate sharing tongues when your body ached from a long day. The large tabby laid down next to Maplefall and attempted to begin grooming her, his movements casual and somewhat weaker than usual. He was so weary, and the warm stone underneath him was so comforting, he wouldn't be surprised if he fell asleep with his head still angled over her back.

OOC: Hello! My name is Harvey and I am a huge fan of books and dogs; I also love plants and peppermint. I'm very upbeat and talkative, so if you ever want to chat send me a PM! You can always feel free to contact me on my main, but I spend a lot of time on my subaccounts, and so if you're interested in plotting with one of my characters(which I'd love!) you might get a quicker response by PMing the character's subaccount. Some of the television shows I love include Criminal Minds, Parks and Recreation, The Office[US], Seinfeld, and Longmire. I have many favorite books, including James Herriot's works about his time as a vet, but a particular favorite is A Skeleton in the Family by Leigh Perry and The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Steadman. I'm a giant little kid at heart and I adore Disney movies and, notably, Harry Potter. I'm also scared of the dark. Right now I'm reading The Dark Vineyard and Cedarstrike is inspired by but not based on Bruno. c: I'm in love with the traditional Clans, and along with Cedarstrike I play Lichenpaw of RiverClan and Eaglewhisker of SkyClan.

Eaglewhisker's surviving littermates are up for adoption! They are 29 moons old and this is their history together.

[size=8]Eaglewhisker was born and raised in SkyClan. He was the firstborn of the litter. His father's name was Whitejaw, and his mother - with whom he was very close - was Dawnleap. His siblings were Cinderkit, Goosekit, Pebblekit, Thistlekit and Volekit. Pebblekit, Goosekit, and Cinderkit became apprentices alongside Eaglekit, but Volekit was dealt a serious blow from the moment he was born - he was blind. When he turned six months he went to the elders' den instead of the apprentices' den, and it was only a few moons later when the young tom, full of bitterness, ran away, never to be seen again. Thistlekit disappeared in the dead of night, and no one knew what happened to her. When Goosepaw, Cinderpaw, Pebblepaw, and Eaglepaw were eleven months old their parents took them out on a patrol, in order to celebrate how close their warrior names were. Disaster struck this patrol; a pack of foxes descended on them and while they all fought heroically, Dawnleap and Whitejaw were slain, as was Cinderpaw. Eaglepaw survived, but in the frenzy he lost sight of Goosepaw and Pebblepaw and never found out what happened to them. He buried what had remained of his family and went home. It was around this time that he fell into his current personality; reserved, self-possessed, severe, stern, focused. He began getting up every day to see the dawn in order to remember his mother, Dawnleap, and, by extension, his father and siblings, and gradually he realized how lucky he was to be alive. He realized the second chance he'd been given, and how much of a blessing life was. His faith in StarClan was renewed and strengthened.

[size=8]To apply, state interest, why you want them, and a roleplay sample. They need to stay in Traditional SkyClan, and you can make a returning thread when you get them. :)
There are countless opportunities for plots here, including family fights/tension[because Eaglewhisker was the lucky one and because they all vanished and he felt abandoned], joy and eventual closeness, learning about what caused them to vanish[up to you!!], etc. These characters personalities' are loosely set, but when you get them, develop them as much as you want!

    Littermates:
    * All these warrior names are up to you.

    1. Thistlekit.
Lilac tabby with blue eyes & low white. As a kitten she was fierce, playful, and loyal, with a subtle interest in herbs.

    2. Goosepaw.
Seal solid with white and dark green eyes. Courageous, reckless, heroic, gentlemanly. He and Eaglewhisker were very, very close; they also look nearly identical.

    3. Pebblepaw.
Solid blue she-cat with gray eyes and one white paw. Affectionate and considerate, but sort of lazy. She was much more interested in water than the average SkyClanner.

    4. Volekit.
    * Blind.
Dark brown marbled tabby with one gold eye and one brown eye. Volekit was a kind kitten with an excellent memory and a creative mind; however, he was largely consumed by his bitterness over being blind.

[size=8]"At least there aren't any burrs in the tunnels." the dark brown tabby enjoyed living underground; the air was cool, the scents were unique, and it was a perfect environment for sleeping. Plus, as he'd said, no burrs. The forest was nice, too, but in the rare occasions that he had leisure time he always returned to camp, listening to the susurration of water and his Clanmates' voices. Cedarstrike was loyal DarkClanner, of course, and had been born and raised here, the thought of leaving never crossing his mind - but from a practical standpoint, it was a pretty excellent way to live, if one didn't mind the dark. "Good evening to you all." added the striped tom, his golden eyes flashing as they swept over Mothskies, Ivystep, Skullface, and Sandheart. He recognized a few of the faces, but he still found it unpleasant that he knew next to no one's name. [b]"We haven't met. I'm Cedarstrike."

[size=8]It was time for him to make some progress with his apprentices, having recently been given two. This did not trouble him; he was confident he could handle the responsibility, and was in fact quite excited, both to pass on his knowledge and make a pair of new friends, but also that he'd been trusted with the training of Thrushpaw and Silentpaw. Poking his head into the apprentices' den, he called, "I'm looking for Silentpaw and Thrushpaw, my apprentices. Are they in here?"

[size=8]Eaglewhisker had listened intently to the story and was about to comment on it to Brackenflame when Nightpaw erupted into speech and then fell to the ground, laughing loudly. "That's unnecessary and disrespectful, and you know it." chastised the stern brown and white tom, a somewhat dangerous look in his dark eyes. "Why don't you excuse yourself and go clean the nursery?" he didn't actually know if the nursery required cleaning or not, but he'd pulled the first task he could think of out the air to assign to Nightpaw.

[size=8]I was thinking about an official organizational method for patrols and apprentice tasks. As a twist on weekly tasks we could have Silvereyes / Talonstar / any warrior that wanted to do it give out official tasks to apprentices(clean the nursery, pick ticks out of the elders' fur, spar with another apprentice, etc) and assign patrols to warriors at certain times of day(Dawn patrol, Night patrol, hunt along the Twolegplace border this afternoon, etc). Then the character's roleplayer could make a thread about it. They'd be given whenever they were requested, and while it'd be totally optional people could use it if they wanted to for organizational purposes.

[size=8]He seemed satisfied at her appearance, though he didn't mind that she'd overslept on the first day, he would remember it for later. If this was her habit, he would adjust when he called for her and train with her later into the night. [b]"Good to see you. I know you're a successful hunter already, so I want to take you out into the territory and have a look at your technique."

[size=8]The large brown and white tom left the gorge, fluffy tail flicking, and as soon as he spotted a bird he stopped, dead still. It was a blackbird several fox-lengths away, pecking at the earth. "Go get it." mouthed Eaglewhisker, his severe eyes flashing from his apprentice to the prey.

[size=8]There was a slight limp in his gait as he approached the fresh-kill pile, caused by the lingering pain left behind by a thorn he'd torn out after returning from a border patrol. "Like voles?" Cedarstrike's inquiry was pleasant as he settled down to socialize; he liked kits, even though he didn't really want any of his own. At current he was too focused on his duties as a warrior to consider being a father. The tawny-cheeked warrior curled his long tail around his paws as he watched her...not chew or swallow? "Are you okay?" it seemed odd to him that a kitten, which he thought of as being perennially hungry, wasn't actually eating. Was she doing it to appease a parent? Or was she just...savoring her food?

[size=8]"I don't have an apprentice." but he was eager for one. He loved his duties as a warrior, but he was still finding that no matter how many patrols he went on he had restless free time with which he had nothing to do. An apprentice could helpfully fill this gap, and this long-haired she-cat seemed to have been dropped into his waiting paws. Walking over just as they were discussing mentorship? Surely it was StarClan's will! The dark brown tabby nodded in friendly greeting to everyone there and then fixed hopeful golden eyes on Spiderpaw's face. [b]"No pressure, of course...but if you're looking for a mentor, I'd be glad to train you. My name is Cedarstrike."

[size=8]"If your pass your trials." he reminded her, his response automatic. Cedarstrike winked. "I'd be honored to guide you through your last few moons of training." he leaned back on his haunches, his mind now humming as he considered his fresh task. He was not the sort of cat to drop a job once it been assigned to him; he buckled down and did it. [b]"At your earliest convenience, I'd like to take you into the forest and see how your hunting technique is. Then we can spar and I'll have a better grasp of what to I have to work with."

[size=8]The golden-eyed tom gave a short laugh in response to Maplefall's concern, nodding along with his new apprentice's clarification. "That's right - I only meant she has two moons of training left if she passes. If she fails, there's more work to do. I know how the apprenticeship system works." Cedarstrike returned his attention to Spiderpaw after smiling reassuringly to his other Clanmate, his tail flicking as he listened with keenness to her brief description of her capabilities. "Sounds just fine. What do you view as your greatest strength and your greatest weakness?"
