John nodded and took a second to think. "I know this is a bit of a personally question and honestly if prefer to avoid this subject all together. But it's important." He explained before continuing. "Last night when Erin brought you back." He paused for a moment before letting out a sigh.
"He didnt.. You didn't.. The two of you." He said tripping over his words, "He dudnt try to do anything with you, did he?" He finally pushed out. His uncomfortableness with the subject was easily seen in his demeanor.
-
"You wouldn't let him?" Johns question was more of a confirmation than an actual question, "I don't mean to scare you or anything but you do realize that if he one day decides he wants something.. You're not going to be able to stop him."
Then John was silent a bit before continuing, "But rest assured, you don't have to be afraid of him. He wouldn't do anything because you remind him of someone. You actually remind me of someone as well," said John with a sad smile
-
"What the fight earlier? No, I mean I don't think it had anything to do with you.." Said John a confused look on his face, "He asked me to find someone for him because he owed Erin some money.. Let me see what was his name.." John took a few seconds then snapped his fingers, "Oh yea his name was San.."
"What are we talking about?" Asked Erin as he finally appeared back from his phone call.
-
Erin chuckled, "I can sometimes have that effect on people," his eyes met John's and then John realized that Erin had overheard their conversation. Or at least part of it. "Well I guess it's time for me to get out of here." said John as he stood up out of his seat.
"Goodbye Courtney, it was a pleasure to meet you." He said with a smile, "See you tonight Hunter." He patted Erin's shoulder. For some reason John had the tendency to always use last names, except in Courtney's case of course. After John was gone Erin turned to Courtney, "Seriously what were you talking about?"
-
Erin sighed and sat down in the chair next to Courtney, "You'd think the guy responsible for the most guys with black eyes wouldn't be such a softy when it came to kidnapping girls," said Erin.
"Don't let his 'gentle giant' act fool you. He might be nice around you but out in the world he can be almost more terrifying than I am." He explained, "Then again, anyone that's 6'3 and speaks with an accent can be scary." He chuckled. "So the phone call I took was from a friend. Daniel responded to my request."
((Sorry for the late reply, things were hectic today, plus everything froze over so things got difficult lol ))
-
"Well, he started off with a bunch of threats, you know the usual 'I'll kill you if I find you' 'you're not going to get away with this'," Erin paused and chuckled as he recalled the message. "He then threatened to get the police involved which is a big no no." Explained Erin.
"Unfortunately he says that a money withdrawal of that large amount will take time, so you're going to be stuck with us for a bit longer." But Erin was anything but sorry. "Oh yea. He wants to talk to you."
-
"No," replied Erin. "Daniel already received a 'proof of life' from you, there's no need to do more than necessary." He explained. "He's very annoying. He thinks there's a possibility of catching me." Said Erin as he rolled his eyes.
Then a beeping noise started and he immediately got out of his seat, "Time for you to go back up to your room." He said, "I have to leave soon and I won't be back until very late tonight, so you're going to be alone for a while."
-
Erin ignored the strange feeling inside his chest, he was quite familiar with it. But it only brought sadness in the end. In all honesty he wanted to give her what she wanted, but his selfish side took a hold, "Come on."
He led her up the stairs and stood in the doorway of her room, watching her closely. "See you later," he said with a small smile before locking the door and making his way out of the house.
-
It wasn't until around midnight that the front door flew open and in stumbled the gang, "I WISH YOU WOULD JUST FOR ONCE DO AS YOURE TOLD!" Came Erin's voice in a loud and angry yell. "DO YOU UNDERSTAND YHAT YOU COULD'VE DIED!?"
"I know I messed up Erin I'm so.." Said Alex but he was interrupted, "Your what huh!? Sorry!? Alex you put everyone's lives in danger! Do you think sorry can fix that!?" Yelled Erin. "Dammit!" He groaned and John helped him to the kitchen. He was now fully aware of the blinding pain shooting through his side.
"Erin this is bad, we need to get you to a hospital," said John his tone laced with cocern. "No. No hospitals, go.. Go get Courtney, I'm sure she'll help you" His breathing was labored and his once grey t-shirt was stained with red sticky liquid.
John hurried out of the kitchen and up the stairs, when he quickly unlocked the door and opened if, "Courtney! Something happened. Im going to need your help."
-
"A work hazard happened, things didn't go so smoothly as we hoped and Erin just got a little hurt." replied John he led her down the stairs and into the kitchen where Erin could be heard, "Ouch! You son of a.."
"Oh look! John's here with Courtney," Tyler interrupted, "Come on Alex, let's get out of here." Tyler said all to happy to escape the wrath of an injured Erin. "He's not happy." He whispered to John as they passed, "Hey Courtney, bye Courtney," he added smiling at the blonde.
Once the two of them were gone John turned to Courtney, "I'm going to get the medical supplies you try and keep him sitting still," he said before leaving. Erin groaned as he tried to get up and out of the chair, "I have to get back out there."
-
He winced as she helped him back down to sit on the chair, "I'm touched and all that you're worried about me sweetheart but this isn't my first bullet wound." Replied Erin with a wink but it turned to a grimace as another wave of pain hit him.
"Although I'm kind of impressed that you can stay conscious after seeing this much blood, most women I've met faint when they see this," he laughed.
-
"You sure aren't," he agreed the same soft smile from earlier reappearing on his face. He sighed, "Well, we make money by doing jobs. But jobs have been scarce so if we get one, we take it without any questions. But this one went a bit south. Alex was somewhere he shouldn't have been and I ended up getting shot. The rest of the gang are busy cleaning up the mess he made," explained Erin trying to give as little detail away as possible.
"Alright, here we are," said John as he walked in holding a red bag with a white cross on it, "Courtney help Erin take off his shirt while I get a sterilizer ready,"
-
"I'll do anything to make you stripping me easier," he replied with a smirk as he lifted his arms up, but he instantly regretted moving so quickly and sucked in a deep breath as the shirt was removed.
"Serves you right for flirting even if your possibly bleeding to death," laughed John.
"Can't help it, how does it look?" Questioned Erin. The wound was deep and it left a messy hole on his right side. "Well good news is, it didn't snap any bones, only skimmed your rib. Bad news.. Well I'm going to have to remove the bullet." Said John.
"Courtney use this," said John handing her a rag and some rubbing alcohol, "Clean the wound as best you can."
-
Erin braced himself grunting as the burning pain became a sharp stinging one. A string of curses escaped his mouth but soon he just sat still and quiet holding his breath.
"Thank you Courtney," said John with a smile before dumping some alcohol on his hands to sterilize them. "Okay man, just hang in their for a bit," he said with a worried glance, "You might want to look away," he added looking at Courtney before his right hand found the wound.
Erin's breath picked up but he stayed silent as John located the bullet, "Got it," he said as he pulled his hand away, his fingers holding a small bullet. "Go ahead and clean it again, Courtney," he directed as he moved to get some stitching supplies.
-
His breathing was shaky as she cleaned it again, "Well aside from the fact that it feels as if someone is shoving a white hot branding iron into my side, I'm doing pretty fine, you?" He questioned.
"Okay, last step." Said John as he brought the needle into view, "Try and kept him as still as possible, I know it'll be hard but it's important that he doesn't move now." he said turning to Courtney. "I really hate you right now," whispered Erin. "I know," replied John before starting with the stitching.
"Dammit!" Said Erin as he started to writhe and shake, "I'm going to kill Alex!"
-
"She's right," assured John. His hand moved a few more times before he took the small pair of scissors and cut the thread. "All done," he assured as he started to pack away the medical supplies.
"Courtney, can you please wrap some bandages around the stitches and help him up to his room. I've helped Erin, but now I have to go and check on Alex. I'm pretty sure he's feeling horrible right now." Asked John as he took out a roll of bandages before shutting the bag.
"I can get to my room by myself," grumbled Erin tiredly, he tried to stand up but almost collapsed before John helped him stand, "I can see that. Just shut up and accept the help."
-
"Thanks," smiled John before taking the bag and walking out of the kitchen in search for Alex.
Erin kept a close eye on Courtney, studying her every move as she worked with the bandages, "I hope that all this didn't exactly interrupt your beauty sleep," he chuckled trying to get his mind off of the dull ache, "Not that you need beauty sleep," he added as-a-matter-of-fact
-
"That's one I've never heard before," he said with a chuckle, wincing as his rib cage moved with his laughter, "A kidnappee happy to help the kidnapper," he clarified.
"I'm glad it was you who helped John and not anyone else," said Erin as he turned to look at her, "You were right, I like having you close by. It's feels.... Nice," he admitted with a small smile, "If anyone asks me about this conversation I will deny ever saying that." He quickly added.
-
"Wouldn't dream of it," he said, "Actually yes I would," he added with a wink. "Now, let's see how hard it would be to get me up a flight of stairs and into my bed all the while causing me as minimal pain as possible." He said.
"On second thought, maybe I should just sleep on the kitchen floor, that would probably be much less painful." He suggested, as the idea of causing him more pain made him want to just pass out already
-
"Beautiful and smart, and I thought you couldn't get more attractive," he said with a smirk and a light laugh. He slowly stood up and leaned some of his weight on her, "Let's just get to the couch." Hê slowly made his was to the couch with the help of Courtney, and released a happy sigh when he was finally seated.
"Thank you," he smiled, "For everything I mean. You didn't have to help but you did anyways."
