It wasn't until it was silent that Erin realized what a stupid thing he had done. "Dammit!" He cursed as he went to the wall, unfortunately whenever someone refused to obey him he'd get too upset and do things out of pure rage and stupidity.
Wedged in the wall was his bullet, at least it didn't go through... Crap Courtney! he tried opening the bathroom door but found it to be locked, he sighed before taking out his keys and unlocking the door from the outside. Popping his head into the bathroom he spoke, "Hey uh, sorry if that scared you.. I forgot you existed for a second."
-
"I killed someone." Said Erin with a straight face, after a second he just chuckled, "I'm kidding. I was protecting my property that's all." He explained. "It was a warning shot. So if you ever hear a second shot then you'd know I really did kill someone."
Erin knew that what he was saying was probably scaring the poor girl half to death but he just wanted her to fear him. It meant that she wouldn't ever go against his wishes, "You can come out now."
-
"Nope, I can't really afford to make another hole in my wall," answered Erin with a chuckle. "Well that depends," he said after he heard her next question. He took the gun and placed it on the bathroom counter then entered the room again.
"What do you think I'm going to do?" He questioned stepping close to her so that they were only inches apart, "I wonder about what goes on in your mind, so why don't you reveal some of your mind to me." Je said, "What do you think I'm going to do?"
-
"You must've heard some stories about gangs." Spoke Erin, "Let's just say if you weren't supposed to be kept in good health and looking as normal as possible.. I'd never leave your bedroom." Hê whispered the last part as he winked.
"Being completely honest, I'm not exactly sure what's stopping me though, there's no rule that says I can't give you back with a few bumps and bruises."
-
"Are you sure about that sweetheart?" Questioned Erin as his lips turned upward into a smirk, "You said it yourself. You have no idea what I'm capable of." Raising his right hand he tucked a stray blonde strand behind her ear.
Of course Erin knew he was a lot of things. Thief, liar, backstabber, the list goes on. But there was one thing he refused to add to the list. The one thing that would make a girl suffer most would be the one thing he'd never do. "Don't worry," he said backing away, "I won't touch you, unless." He paused, "You ask me to." He finished with the same smirk as he crossed his arms over his chest.
-
"What are you doing?" Questioned Erin as he pointed to the hand she kept at her neck. "Listen sweetheart, why do I get the feeling that this isn't exactly the first time you've been terrified of someone?" He asked.
"I'd think that for a girl who was just told she'd be left alone, you would be happy and relaxing. But instead you're tense, shaking and I swear if I was quiet I'd be able to hear your heart trying get jump out of your chest." He backed away a bit more, giving her some breathing space.
-
"The scar huh?" Said Erin as he remembered her telling him something about a scar.
"Where did you get it?" He asked. "And if it's a long story then let me first get comfortable," he stated with a smile before walking to the other side of the bed and laying down.
"And none of that 'oh it's personal' girly sh*t. Your right to personal stuff was thrown out the window the moment you were in my car," he laughed. Seriously, how bad could the story be?
-
Erin's smile slowly disappeared as he listened to her story. Soon he just sat there with a hard expression on his face. When she finished he was silent for a few seconds.
"Did the two of you ever cross paths again? Or did you try and avoid him at all costs." Came his reply. "And don't worry about the gun, I won't hurt you with it." He added, his tone a bit softer
-
"You remind me of someone I once knew," said Erin. He sat up on the bed before standing up. He was now deep in thought, his mind running over the story again and again. "What was the guy's name. His full name, not just his first name."
Erin wanted to do something about it. Maybe it was because Courtney reminded him of someone he knew a long time ago, or maybe it was just because he was bored. But he was going to do something.
-
"Just curious." Came Erin's reply. It was quick short and left little room for more conversation. "I have to go meet up with some of my colleagues.
I won't be back until later and when I do get back I'll bring you some lunch." He said. He walked over to the bedroom door but stopped, "Don't try anything stupid."
-
He chuckled a bit at her statement, his mood slightly lightening. "Even if you could get s way out and run away, I'd always find you." He replied, although it sounded more like a promise.
He walked out of the room and slid the key into the doorknob, locking it securely before he continued down the stairs. Stopping at the kitchen drawer to pick up a phone he then made his way out of the house and to his car. Time for shooting practice.
-
After a few hours Erin arrived back at the house, but this time he wasn't alone. Alex and John O'Connel were with him. "You guys go ahead and start eating, I'm going to get Katy.." And then things went silent.
Alex looked confused and John just gave Erin a empathetic look, "Wait I thought the chicks name was Courtney?" Questioned Alex. "It is, I've just been with so many girls I mix up the names.." Replied Erin quickly, masking whatever emotion he had in the moment. Alex chuckled, "I don't bother with remembering names."
Erin walked up the stairs and quickly went to his room to change shirts. He passed a mirror and saw a red mark forming at his jaw and his eye was tinted lightly blue. So much for trying to leave Courtney in the dark he pulled on a fresh black t-shirt then made his way to Courtney's room. He quickly unlocked the door and stepped in, "I'm back, and I brought food."
-
"Damn, I should just leave you locked in the house instead of your room, you could make it look livable again," joked Erin as he took in the sight of the clean room. His smile however didn't last long when he heard her question, "Oh this?" He asked pointing to his face,
"It's a work hazard. Can't be expected to lead a gang and not get a few bumps and bruises every now and then. Anyways, I've got John and Alex downstairs but don't worry they won't touch you. You might have to wrestle Alex for the food though" he chuckled trying to lighten the mood and change the subject.
-
"Come on down," Said Erin before leading the both of them out the room and down towards the kitchen. Alex was busy rambling on about some story, while John just sat quietly eating a slice of pizza and rolling his eyes at the younger man.
"You guys didn't eat everything did you?" Questioned Erin as he got a plate for him and Courtney. "No mate, if you haven't noticed, I've not taken a liking for most american food." Chuckled John his Irish accent prominent.
"So you must be Courtney, I'm Alex. The guy that helped Erin get you." Said the younger one. He had tan skin and dark hair, he still had a bit of an immature quality to him considering he was only eighteen. John on the other hand was light skinned, with blonde hair. He was tall and very well built.
-
Alex laughed, "I seem to have that effect on women." He said winking at her. Johns hand connected with the back of Alex's head, "She's older than you." He scolded. He then turned to face Courtney, "I just want to make it clear that I don't approve of the whole kidnapping thing." His tone was apologetic.
"And I said we were done with that discussion." Came Erin's quick reply as he gave John a glare, "Anyways, there is cheese, pepperoni and sausage, take what you want." Said Erin as he handed Courtney a plate
-
"You're welcome," Said Erin his lips turning up into a slight smile. "So how in the world are we supposed to hear from her boy toy if the phone you used to contact him was destroyed?" Questioned John keeping as little information in the sentence as possible.
Alex on the other hand was not as considerate, "Maybe if you didn't beat the bloody daylights out of that guy the phone would still be.. Ow!" This time it was John's foot connecting with Alex's shin. Erin now had a death glare aimed at Alex. "I'll get another phone." He grumbled before taking a bite out of his pizza
-
"So Courtney, you've spent almost a full day alone with Erin, what are your thoughts about him?" Questioned Alex, curiosity evident in his tone. John looked over to Erin expecting him to voice his objection but instead Erin also looked to Courtney with the same curiosity.
"Yes Courtney, what do you think about me? Other than I'm charming, attractive and all around irresistable," joked Erin, his tone lighter now.
-
Erin smiled at her agreement with his statement and when she continued he changed his look to one of mock hurt. Alex and John laughed and then John spoke, "So basically she finds you stubborn, and messy." He said, then he turned to Courtney, "Your very perceptive."
"I'm not stubborn." Grumbled Erin, "I just like to have things my way. That's all." And with that Alex and John chuckled again. "Now you have to tell us a bit about yourself," said John. His tone was light and his eyes showed amusement
-
Erin's eyes widened in disbelief and his mouth fell open, "Hey!" He protested. On the other hand, John and Alex burst into another scene of laughter, "Can we please keep you in the gang?" Asked Alex with a large smile.
"If you're planning on turning my men against me it's not going to work." Said Erin with amusement in his tone. "Speak for yourself mate, she's already got me and Alex." Said John with a smile, "Your alright in my book Courtney!"
-
Alex was about to speak up again when his phone's alarm went off, "Oh crap! I'm going to be late!" He took the last bite of his pizza and then flung out of his chair, "Nice to meet you!" Hê said over his shoulder, but his words where muffled by the food in his mouth.
After Alex was gone and out the door Erin stood up, "I've got to go make a call, John can you make sure she stays here?" He asked. "Yeah, course mate." Replied the blonde man. Erin then too left the kitchen leaving John and Courtney alone. "Now that Erin's gone, what do you really think about being here?" He questioned. His tone showed no amusement at all, instead there was a hint of concern.
