"I know you want me to come along, Coldflash, but I have duties, too!" Thrushpath called out after the silver tabby, aiming to softly headbutt the larger warrior when he bounding towards the camp entrance, with Raincloud, Sunpaw, and Pineclaw hopefully in tow. Raincloud would be leading the patrol this time, but the deputy wanted to come along, and maybe even squeeze in a few hunts with Sunpaw on the way back. Thrushpath smiled at the young tom, bright green eyes glinting in the rising sun. "First patrol, isn't it? Well, let's get a move on," the deputy purred, paws kneading the ground in anticipation.

Thrushpath's chest puffed out in pride at Goldenstar's praise. He could do this! He could be a good deputy! The dark brown tabby let Rainsong lead the way, white whiskers twitching. They were headed towards Sunset Prairie, perhaps he could teach Sunpaw how to hunt a few voles or rabbits. The deputy weaved quietly past a clump of trees, easily scaling a fallen tree. "Sunpaw, after this patrol, we'll go hunting." Thrushpath's mind flitted to the other apprentice, Willowpaw. Coldflash was her mentor. "It'll be a competition between you and Willowpaw!"

[fancypost borderwidth=0][justify]"You're hurt," a voice called as he rose over the crest of a large rock. The sleek gray-and-white to, had watched the two others from afar for a few seconds. Were they safe? Would they attack him at a second's notice? Ophiuchus frowned inwardly, but let a tiny reassuring smile slip onto his maw, viridian gaze flashing with fear. The ginger tabby had a wide cut on his cheek, and the darker tabby looked all around battered. I can help them, he thought. But can they help me? Ophiuchus had always been one to trust others easily - and this was no different.

"I'm okay as well," the feline stated, tail flicking from side to side. "I know how to....heal you two, if you want me to......"

[fancypost borderwidth=0][justify] "Ophiuchus," the tom replied, unfazed by the dead bodies. Sure, they were disgusting and needed to be buried soon, but everyone died at one point. But the two that went? They went terribly. "What....killed them?" What if it was the others? The young feline backed a few steps away, soft pawpads barely keeping a good grip on the ground. It couldn't have been them. If it had been, they would all be flying at each other furiously. Then again, some creatures were smarter, more clever than that. They'd build up to the highest level of trust, then make it come crashing down. Ophiuchus took a deep breath. It was better to see the good in others, not the bad.

At Vex's question, the gray-and-white domestic cat nodded, ear flicking. "I know a few things...." A good distance away from the small group was a figure, one that crouched down into the sand. Perhaps she was afraid - maybe just as afraid as he was, only inwardly. There was also a larger caracal-cross, who seemed not to be interested in approaching. He could be smart. I don't know what these others want to do.

[fancypost borderwidth=0][justify] Ophiu's viridian gaze narrowed as the demi-tom approached, words spewing from his maw. Oh, a healer, are you? Fat lot of good that will do. Look around you. Look at them. We're all gonna end up dead. Might as well get used to it. Rigley spoke the truth. It was inevitable - they were all going to die in the end. But Ophiuchus was certain he wasn't going to die like this. Slaughtered for no good reason. The alabaster patched feline sank his claws into the ground, fur beginning to rise on his neck. "So you would rather us all die? Have everyone rot away from disease, infection?"

He spat with anger, gaze locked onto Rigley's. "I don't know about you, but I don't want to go that way, okay?" In his peripheral vision, Ophiuchus could spot the unamed figure scrabbling up the beach, sand being sprayed in all directions. It's not safe! Op screeched internally, his grip on the ground only growing tighter.

[fancypost borderwidth=0][justify] The Predators. The name itself made the white splotched tom shiver, tailtip whisking in the air nervously. So they were the ones that killed to two cats. Tore them up. Why? "Because we're their prey," Ophiuchus breathed, alabaster claws sinking deeper into the sand. An ear flicked as Anubis began to list how to survive the night. He couldn't hide, but he could certainly run. But for how long? Shifting uncomfortably, Op's fur bristled instantly when Anubis spoke yet again. But these Predators aren't the only things that'll hurt you. The tom acted as if the threat wasn't obvious, averting his sharp viridian gaze as his fur prickled.

Ophiuchus glared at Rigley, annoyed by his negativity. "I think we will. I know I will," he muttered, avoiding looking at the corpses.

Ophiuchus didn't say a word at Anubis's threat. It would do no good. The grey-and-white tom sheathed his claws and leaped to a higher rock in an attempt to see the field. That was where they had to hide to save their lives. At the end of the field was a huge, gloomy forest. The Predators lived there. He flattened his ears, pawing at the ground. His gaze followed the departing tabby, then flicked to the two bloody corpses. Flicking his tail towards them, Ophiu's nose scrunched in disgust. "Should - should we bury them.....?"

[fancypost borderwidth=0][justify]Ophiuchus's jaw dropped, pearly white teeth glinting in the sun. Leave them as bait? The tom considered this. It was better that the Predators went after the dead than the alive, right? Right. Anubis shot off, sprinting towards a sharp boulder. The grey feline was sure that the red tabby was searching for someplace to hide - and he was coming along. Among the youngest of the group, Ophiu wasn't very wise at all, and would've just sat on the beach until nighttime if there was no one to guide him. He padded after Anu, only to be faced by a clump of ferns and behind that, a tunnel. Slipping in, the healer's green gaze widened. It was much larger than he anticipated. Glancing back, Ophiuchus scooched aside in case the others came tumbling in as well. "This is a nice place to hide," he called out, tail swishing from side to side.

[fancypost borderwidth=0][justify] Resisting the urge to flatten his ears when Rigley slipped in, Ophiuchus only gave a side-eyed glare behind Annie's back. The sleek tom padded forward, brushing up against the dirt walls every few seconds. There had to be some small caves or dens along the edges.

[fancypost borderwidth=0][justify] Ophiuchus stayed silent as first Anubis, then Rigley exited the tunnel. The red tabby tom was right - if he was to stay here, he'd need something to covers his scent. The gray and white tom made a mental note to find something later, but in the meanwhile, resumed padded forward until a crack in the ceiling let a draft of sunlight pour through. There was a small crack in the wall that gave way to a larger, more open den with water trickling down the side. This didn't seem to bad. For now. Ophiuchus slipped farther into the den until he reached the back section. Rocks bordered the entrance to it closely, and it was difficult for even the slim tom to squeeze in. Shafts of light pooled onto the ground, and Ophiu made the decision that this was where he would stay. All that needed to be done now was find something to mask his scent.

Soon emerging back into the open, the grey-and-white splotched tom leaped up the slope, heading to the field. Maybe flowers would do the trick. And anyway, he needed to find some herbs. At least if he got injured, he could heal himself, right? The young cat broke out into a jog, which turned into a sprint. A grin broke out on his maw. Op enjoyed the feeling of wind rushing past his whiskers, his pelt, his tail. It made him feel weightless. Giving way to childish instinct, Ophiuchus began to writhe happily among the fragrant plants, green gaze hidden behind his eyelids.

( from a shell? whooa. i couldn't be that creative even if it stuffed itself down my throat xD
also, weird muse burst right here! )

[fancypost borderwidth=0][justify][sub]It wasn't too long after the alabaster splashed feline had been playing vivaciously in the fields when he began to make his way back, a few clumps of herbs hanging from his jaws and tucked under his chin. The thing about Ophiuchus was that he was in no way neat with his belongings - they could be lying half across the forest and he'd not forget about them. Paws hitting the ground rhythmically, Op narrowed his gaze and stood stock still when he spotted a pure white figure from afar. Would the creature notice him? From here, it smelt just like a regular cat. The real question, however, was could he trust them? Ophiuchus's ear flicked, and he halfheartedly waved his tail at Clary, not even sure if she could see or even hear him. "I come in peace," the tom joked, a half-smile upon his maw.

Without waiting for any sort of answer, Ophiuchus dove down the slope, heading back towards the hideout Anubis had found in the beginning. He paused at the entrance. The scent of the big red tabby clung to the curling ferns and the soft soil. Was he hiding in here, ready to pop out and attack? The young healer's mind flitted back to Annie's threat. It didn't seem likely that he'd be assassinated, but if he was, he'd go down with a fight. Ivory claws unsheathing easily, Ophiuchus couldn't stop a shiver from running down his spine. He'd have no chance against the large tom. He was puny.

Hesitantly padding forward, Op noticed the scent of prey mingling with Anubis's scent, and his tense frame relaxed when he realized that Anubis hadn't come to ambush him; he came to drop off food. A purr came from the cat's throat, and he pounced onto the fish, herbs and cobwebs dropping to the ground. Demolished in mere seconds Ophiuchus ran his salmon-hued tongue around his muzzle, a satisfied grin upon his maw. Anubis's wide cheek gash reminded him - he should give something in return. But instead of food or water, healing supplies.

Quickly putting together a poultice of marigold and a tiny bit of comfrey root, Ophiuchus stretched up on his hind legs to pull cobwebs from the high corner of his den. Pushing back out into the open, the tom's jaws were full with herbs, cobwebs, and the fish bone. A sort of joke, you see. Ophiuchus was terrible at tracking scents down, but managed to make his way to Anubis's hideout. Dropping everything in a messy pile, Op arranged the fish bones around it, then backed away. Hopefully the tabby would know how to use them.

[ Fern - I'm not very sure xD But I do know they captured Mistpaw or something? Her parents were traitors I think~ ]

Thrushpath had just caught up to the rest of the patrol, ears flattened as his gaze landed on Mistpaw. She certainly looked familiar.....wait....! "The daughter of the traitors?!" he snapped, venom slipping into his voice. But the hate wasn't directed towards her, more of her mother and father. The ones that led predators into the camp, murdering more than a dozen cats. The deputy would take just a few mousetails to claw her ears, but he had to be reasonable here. There was no sense in punishing a cat for what their kin did. Flicking the length of his tail, the dark brown and white tabby padded forward, attempts to look menacing failing terribly. Coldflash could've done that much better. "You need to calm down or we'll make you. You're just going to be taken to camp so we can ask you a few questions." Thrushpath glanced down at Sunpaw. "But Goldenstar's verdict is final. Let's go!"

Taking up position behind Raincloud just in case Mistpaw managed to slither out of the she-cat's grasp, Thrushpath would be ready to chase her down. He was one of the fastest cats in the clan, after all.
