The day was bright outside, shining down on the empty land, where nothing stirred on the surface. Below the ground was the complete opposite story. A clan called Skyclan, full of felines, canines, avian, and all other animals alike. One such cat was trotting around, claws clogged with the mud of the damp, dirty earth. Dragging behind him was a basket that he was hauling, a few books stacked inside it.
The books the kitten had collected were more for sitting on than reading from, even if this was story time. Perhaps the cat would make something up when he “read” from a smaller one. A magic book, he’d call it. One that held every story you needed without turning the page. That was inviting and fun, which was his goal with this. Diablerie swept his silver-and-white tail along the ground in a clearing in the city, letting the basket rest and hopping on top of the stack of books. The very top book was a thin, paperback book. The front cover read “Mother Goose’s Nursery Rhymes”, though Dia couldn't read those words, nor any of the words inside the book.
From atop his short tower of books, the blue-eyed kitten scanned around him, at the busy clan. Perhaps there were a few others who could stand to pause in their duties. Sad ones, ones who were tired, or just wanted some fun. That was his target audience.
Putting on a wide grin, Diablerie called in the most cheery and inviting voice he could muster. “Come one, come all! Dia's story time is going to start!” That wasn't the best call. Let’s try again- but do attempt not to botch it up now, yes? “You don’t want to miss the magic book of stories galore! Every story in the world and then some!” Yeah, that should work. In his front paws, Diablerie clutched the thin “magic book”, opened now, and flicked his tail excitedly.
