"Of course, love." And he had been thinking that he was incapable of love, that no one could love him. He was so blinded by all of it that he didn't remember that he was a vampire, and hunting could be disastrous.

He began to pad towards her, which might be of concern, but instead of stopping in front of her, he stepped into the stream, to wash away the scent of blood that clung to him from killing the rabbit. His eyes flickered up to stare at her, for once in his life, at a sheer loss for words. He couldn't imagine the questions that would follow this statement - certainly not good ones.

"And I hate it. You know how hard I try to fight it? Deny the nature of what I am? It took so much control to break away from pursuing you. I didn't know it was you. I could have killed you, Cain. And I swore I would never, EVER, kill a friend or a clanmate. Or anyone really, unless they were an immediate threat to me, just for their blood."

And now for the big part. His deepest and biggest concern.

"....and no one can love a monster." This statement was little more than a whisper, and his voice cracked.

He knew she was there, of course, he had smelled her coming. But Edward didn't harm clanmates, or anyone for that matter, unless they were attacking him or those he cared about. Making sure his fangs were hidden, he turned around, expression somewhat sad. Those who knew what he was, or suspected it, even, were afraid of him. "Hullo."

"I'm Edward." The vampire smiled, flicking an ear in greeting. Briefly glancing over at Ellie, the male's attention returned to Hailey, as he sighed softly.

He felt a bit warmer when Ellie appeared. "Yeah...it's normal, sadly. It's hard to explain."

"Then welcome to SunClan. I'm Edward." He grinned, flicking an ear in proper greeting. Flashing Luke a grateful look, the vampire returned his attention to the new member.

Seeing her frown made him feel some sense of sadness. He didn't want to upset her. "No, no, it's okay! It's not your fault I'm a vam-" He cut off, slightly in shock that he was about to say that. "Um."

Ellie was right - things had been getting kind of awkward. Smiling, Edward's gaze flickered back and forth from Ellie to Hailey. "Well I was reading and reflecting on how pathetic my life is and being hungry," he paused, "...but that's typical."
