Growing up was tough on Jiayi having a rather serve case of asthma. She was taking close to a hand full of pills a day and getting shots every two week just to try and get her asthma under control, with no avail might I add. She missed many days of school due to ill and the E.R. and hospital staff were on first name basis with her and her family. She had very few friends. One night Jiayi spent the night at a friends home only to realize she had forgotten an inhaler and rang up her mother as it was an hour drive to the friend, Ning's, home. In that hour the fifteen year old had an asthma attack and collapsed. She spent three days in the hospital, brain dead before the decision to "pull the plug" had been made. Outwardly she has no regret, subconsciously she regrets not being able to fit in and have a normal life.( I apologize if this makes no sense I'll go back and fix at a later date....)
