    Adam Francis Blanchett

"The bitch," Adam muttered under his breath, swerving out of his lane periodically purely out of steaming anger (and the 0.07 blood alcohol level). His "boo" and him had been in a steamy lip locking session when the name "Catherine" slipped. Of course, his ex was furious with this and spoke the foulest, nastiest words that Adam ever heard. Ever.

He wasn't necessarily heartbroken with this break-up, he wasn't head over heels in love with Serena, not like he was... is with Catherine, but the girl distracted him from the distress of a broken-heart so he went with it like he did with the other girls. He was more angry at himself, that he didn't have the courage to leave the winding hillsides and putrid cow fields of Missouri to be with the one he needed.

Adam was driving in the wrong lane entirely, and it wasn't until the headlights of a pick-up truck peeked over the small mound of road in front of him, and by then it was too late.

Head-on collision at high speed, his own survival was a miracle seeing as his car was totaled and the driver of the truck was dead on impact. It didn't come without a cost, however.

Adam's eyes slowly opened for the first time in days, at first blinded by the white LED lights that buzzed overhead, but quickly adjusted themselves to focus on the older couple at his bedside. The woman, whom he called Mom, had tears rushing down her face and a wide grin shaping her lips. "Adam! Thank God they said you weren't going to make it! We were so worried...." She was frantic to get her words out, speaking them too fast for her tongue and thus they were somewhat slurred, but understandable.

"I'm fine," Adam reassured his mother, sobbing at this point, as she moved closer to give him a loving, warm hug.

He adjusted himself to stand from the hospital bed, but something underneath the standard hospital gown didn't feel right. Adam lifted the sheets and, to his horror, his leg was cut short at the thigh, just a pathetic stub where his own flesh and bone used to be.

"They tried the best they could," The man, whom he called Dad, mumbled with a stoic expression seemingly glued to his face.

    ~~

After a month of physical (And mental) therapy, Adam returned home with a metallic, crowbar-shaped artificial leg. It wasn't anything special, but with it he could run and that was all that mattered to him... Running back to Catherine.

To his surprise, his parents had already made the decision to move back to everything that, in his heart, felt like actual home. He was, of course, giddy with the idea and the entire car trip he spent planning his meeting with Catherine, what he'd say and how he'd say it and how she'd react. He, of course, had both legs in this fantasy so he didn't need to worry about how she'd react to that.

    ~~

It was later that day, the sun was beginning to melt into the far horizon and spreading shades of red and pink into the otherwise blue sky. Adam had snuck into Catherine's backyard, remembering how he'd come here after her parents had long since went to bed and spend the night in her room. Of course, they never did anything... like that. They're relationship was never like that, it was about love and purely that.

So, mimicking what he had repeated so often in his teen years, he took a handful of small rocks from the garden that bordered the home and started tossing them at the window of her bedroom, hopeful that the spark of romance and love was still there.

Adam felt week at the knees (or knee really) when he felt her body against his, her arms around him, her voice floating into her ears. It seemed surreal, as though he were still hallucinating in his hospital bed and this were just a tease played out by his sick mind. It was real though, his one-and-only didn't disappear as his arms came around her body. It was enough to make him collapse right there, as though her very existence were enough to stun his body, but he kept his posture and readjusted himself, the metallic leg clanging against the concrete underneath them as he did this.

"I know, I can't believe it either," Adam murmured, the words soft and almost unrecognizable unless you had really listened.

Adam's lips shifted to a half frown, his features filled with confusion. "I-I was in a car accident," He mumbled, not entirely focused on the question at hand as he reached up to her hand, encircling it with his own and holding it close to his chest, that in itself a comfort. He never blamed Catherine for the accident, it was his own fault. He was the one who chose to drive after downing as many beers as he could afford, no one else had any influence in the matter.

Adam's features tightened, this wasn't going well and he was desperate to ease her own conscious. "Look, I've been waiting years to see you and we can talk about our own problems later, for now I just want to be here with you and for us to enjoy each other," He whispered into her ear after pulling close to the woman. His arms encircled around her back and pulled her firmly against him, pressing his lips against hers for only a moment, but for him it felt as though time itself had paused to allow for their kiss to last an eternity. Soon, he broke the contact with their mouths and stared into her eyes, looking for something akin to a spark of some sort, an assurement that their love was still there.

Adam smiled, a toothy one that had a certain cockiness to it as he regained his confidence around her. They'd both changed, he realized that, and whether or not it was for better or worse was unclear... For now, he could only love her that way that two kids, hopelessly in love, could. Entirely, with everything on the line, and with nothing left to hold back.

"I know, and I can assure you the feeling's mutual," Adam murmured, resting his forehead against hers. He could stay like that for the rest of his life, in her parents' backyard with the girl of his dreams in his arms. Well, at least not until he heard the creaking of the backdoor as it swung open. He had forgotten that he wasn't 16 anymore, that they were adults and that he didn't need to give a shit about what her parents found them doing. His mind was still fuzzy with love and didn't have room for logical thinking.

Adam planted one last goodnight kiss onto her lips before slipping back through the hole that's, to his amazement, still in the fence. He lingered there for a moment, signaling with his hands for her to call him before finally leaving.

Adam didn't live in the same house, unfortunately. It wasn't a short walk down the street, and so he didn't have the luxury of proximity anymore. He lived in a newly built house, one that lacked previous tenants and was sitting on the ever-expanding edge of town. It was a 20 minute drive, but Adam had lost driving privileges for a while and he was still unable to walk long distances on a prosthetic leg, so he had to take a bus.

It was... an experience. During the day it wasn't so bad, the people were normal enough, but at night it took on a new persona. A couple of homeless drifters took up the front of the bus, grimy with filth and reeked enough to stink up the whole front of the bus. He moved past them to find the rest of the bus was mostly empty, save a shady-looking man and a middle-aged couple making out in the back of the bus.

He sat as far away from possible from all of them, just when his phone began to ring. It wasn't anything fancy, just a flip phone from the dinosaur ages, but it connected him with Catherine and that was all he needed. "Hello?"

Adam smiled lightly, speaking softly into the phone so that the people around him wouldn't be disturbed. "I most certainly did, I just didn't get a chance to say one last thing: Tomorrow morning meet me at the Grotto, I have something special planned," He instructed, managing to get out one last "I love you" before the bus pulled to a halt at his stop and swung open its doors. He quickly exited, hanging up the phone to keep himself from tripping.

The grotto had been a memorable place for the two since childhood. The grotto was a small, secluded thicket of underbrush at the local park. It wasn't anything fancy by any physical means, but it was where Adam, at 6, first met Catherine, where they first (playfully) kissed at 8, and where they first proclaimed their love for each other at 16. Needless to say, the spot was sacred to him regardless of how dull it appears at first glance.

    Terri Joyce Roberts

"I'm not looking for a perfect life, a square house surrounded by other square houses. What if my house was a triangle? Or a circle?

I also don't want the whole two kids and a loving husband thing, it's cliche at this point. I want to be able to stand up in a crowd of my peers and said that I rose to my own ambitions, that I've accomplished more than what was expected of me.

Different isn't something I strive to be at this point, it's something I just am. I want to feel satisfied with my life, and if that means I reach for the stars than by God that's what I'm going to do."

It was all over campus, Terri's romance life that is. There were fliers posted around the school, fellow students and even professors whispering amongst themselves about the little freshman girl who hit it big time with a celebrity. She couldn't even get a break from her roommate, who was a HUGE as s fan by the way, asking questions about Will and fantasizing about Terri's boyfriend. It irked her a little, so she had barricaded herself in the bathroom with enough homework to keep her busy for a while.

It startled her a little, the vibrations of the phone on her upper thigh, and jumped a little before quickly snatching the phone from her pocket. It was Willy, thank God, she needed to see him. Terri smiled into the phone, at Will's face, once she had answered. "Hey Boo."

    {Trust me, I won't!
But this is a little embarrassing, but can you make your text a little bigger? I have horrible eyesight and it's hard to read.

Terri had to keep herself from getting too giddy, and got by with simply an enthusiastic nod and wide smile. "Of course I am..." She paused for a moment, her excitement dulled by the obvious. "How long are you staying before you return to work?" Of course Terri knew that his schedule was hectic, from the very beginning she knew that would be a problem, but it didn't make it any easier to deal with. Sometimes she wished that they could both escape from their lives and just be together, wouldn't that make things easier? No more global tours, no more loneliness, and no more having to hide everything about themselves.

{Thanks, I need glasses bad, mine broke and we've been procrastinating on getting me new ones XD

Terri had classes today, of course, but she excused herself from her lectures with a mock stomach bug, apparently having eaten something that didn't agree with her yesterday. Regardless of the story, no one questioned the legitimacy of the perfect student's absence and that allowed her an entire day with Will.

Terri had, of course, been patiently waiting for Will and was almost instantaneous answering the door with the knock. Her lips shaped into a wide smile, almost in disbelief that she could, finally, find some alone time with her boo. She threw her arms around his neck, embracing him firmly as though he might slip away should she loosen her hold. "I missed you so much!... You got flowers?" She had only now noticed the flowers, when she had pulled back slightly to kiss him. Will was always doing sweet little things like this, and as cliche as it was it touched her heart that he would do this.

Terri gave him a small, playful smile when she heard the same complaint he'd repeat day in and day out. She placed a hand on his chest, leaning in slightly but still leaving a slight amount of space between their bodies. "Oh, poor boo. He can't go anywhere nowadays without someone stalking him, huh?" She teased softly, unable to resist placing a soft kiss on his jawline before moving her hand down to his, entwining it with her own. "Come on inside while I put these in a vase," She invited, tugging her boyfriend inside the cluttered, unorganized apartment.

Terri broke the contact between them to move to a blue, glass vase with white birds carefully painted into it. There were a couple of dandelions her niece had picked for her currently soaking in the vase, and her conscious wouldn't allow her to remove them so she simply added the roses in with the yellow, dying weeds.

Terri leaned into him on the sofa, one hand reaching over to grasp his. At the question, she, unintentionally, scoffed, not very content with that campus at the moment. "Horrible. We're everywhere and I can't get a damn break, especially at school," She muttered. Of course, she couldn't be too upset with the outcome of their relationship, she knew that this would, eventually, happen, but it's overwhelming now that it has. "I don't know how you put up with it."

[align=center][color=black]Terri shook her head quickly in disagreement, a bit unsure that he understood what it felt like to her, who never wanted the publicity. "No... It's different than that. I don't want everyone to be watching my every move, regardless of if I get used to it or not. I just want to be with you, not you and the rest of the world," she explained, hoping that he had some magical solution for this, but Terri was, for the most part, a logical thinker and knew that if she wanted to be with Will, then this is what she needed to put up with.

Sighing, Terri murmured, "You're lucky I love you."

Terri smirked at the idea of having a day, out of the apartment, with Will. Before the leak, they never really had the opportunity to do things like having a night "out on the town". It would always be about keeping their relationship private, and a date that didn't involve this damn sofa was too good to pass up.

"And I think it's obvious what we're doing then," Terri decided, jumping from the furniture and pulling Will to his feet.

{Sorry for my crappy posts, I wrote them on my phone and I hate typing posts on my phone cuz I suck at touchscreen. You'll know I'm on my phone when I don't have her pic up.

Terri nodded quickly, still unable to even lessen the wide smile on her face. "I'll only be a second," She promised, pausing for a moment to reach up and place her lips on his. She held it there for a moment, a long moment, before suddenly pulling back. She winked playfully towards him before turning sharply and heading into one of the two bedrooms squeezed in the back of the apartment. Inside, the room was much different than the rest of the apartment. It was clean, organized, and almost empty. Her roommate was a packrat, and after a measly little month of living with the sophomore, she simply gave up on trying to clean up after her.

It took only a moment for her to pack a plain black backpack with an outfit and pajamas. With the light luggage slung over the left shoulder, she returned to her boyfriend's side and slid her hand into his. "I'm ready," She confirmed.
