[font=times new roman]it was late evening. the crickets were chirping quietly in the background, while fireflies lit up the cloud-covered sky like replacement stars. it was obvious from the cool breeze and otherwise stillness of the territory that there was to be a storm coming on, but it was very comfortable weather. while most windclanners were tuckering down in camp, naveen sat just outside of it, leaning against a tree in a small clearing. he was humming to himself, ukulele propped up on his shoulder. he strummed the strings with a cream forepaw, pressing down on the neck with the other before releasing, causing the instrument to release two different sounds. in his couple days with the strange thing, the apprentice had figured out that if you pressed on the strings and then pulled them, they made different sounds. it reminded him of some of the sounds used in the jazz music the humans would always play back in his kingdom. naveen felt a pang at the memory, but pushed it aside and instead began to hum one of his favorite lively jazz tunes. slowly, he pressed his paw on the strings in different places. it took him a few minutes, but he found a combination that sounded nice. he grinned. "ashidanza," the tom breathed, and began strumming the chord along with the tempo of his humming.
