a mighty warrior stepped up to the bloodclan border.

he was a domestic feline, with a beautifully flowing tawny and white pelt at that, but he was as big- no, bigger! -than a lion. his claws, as long and sharp as mighty swords, were unsheathed, but because he was such a merciful person, they were only for display unless bloodclan wasn't as welcoming to him as he hoped. they had to be, surely; yes, they would immediately bow down to his greatness, frown him the leader of their clan. his muscles rippled underneath his pelt, hazel optics bright and flecked with the brightest green in the world, he called out in his deep voice, "it is i, the great dareth, and I am here to join your clan. celebrate, for if i had chosen an enemy of yours you would have been crushed in a day. but I am here, and I will aid you in crushing your enemies."

wait a minute. that's not what happened.

that's what the tom perceived to be happening, in his mind. here's how it really went.

dareth stumbled over to the bloodclan border.

he was a domestic feline, with a short, dull brown tabby and white coat. he was about the average size for his species, maybe a bit on the smaller side. his claws were unsheathed, but they weren't nearly as long and as sharp as sword - simply a normal size. he was a bit on the pudgy side, and a golden chain necklace with a large star pennant hung from his neck - he'd told everyone he'd won it the biggest competition in the world, but considering he 'forgot' what it was called, most we're dubious. he had been a kittypet, until he heard about the clans from a nearby loner - who secretly thought it'd be funny to see him get killed, even making bets with his friends about how long it would take. the tom cleared his throat, blinking his hazel eyes and frowning slightly. purposefully lowering his voice an octave, which made him sound ridiculous, he announced, "it is i, the great dareth, and I am here to join your clan. celebrate, for if i had chosen an enemy of yours you would have been crushed in a day. but I am here, and I will aid you in crushing your enemies."

dareth frowned at raya. "i guess you must've misheard. my name is dareth, and I am here to join your clan." he out emphasis on his name and what he was doing at the border, flexing his claws. he wasn't nervous, no, not one bit ...

the tom nodded to cornelia. "yes, it is very much 'so.' i'll have you know that where I came from, I was a master at Kung-fu fighting. I could demonstrate a few moves, if you need to see that i'm qualified enough to join, because i definitely am."

dareth turned his attention to lilibeth and scowled. "i really doubt that. do you know kung-fu? i didn't think so."

dareth nodded to cornelia before his gaze trained on sadramida for a moment before his eyes bugged, and he could barely refrain from jumping back and screaming 'don't eat me!' but somehow, he managed. the tom gulped and responded, "yes." his voice was a bit high and squeaky, out of fear and nerves. he cleared his throat and tried again, in a deeper voice. "y-yes. i don't need a tour, thank you, I can get around just fine on my own." probably.

    ( thanks ouo )

it had started out as a gift, a blessing.

fortuna had been born into a small, nameless loner group. the medic had received a prophecy moments before her birth from their ancestors, telling him that a kitten would be born in that litter with the ability to read others, to see things invisible to most - known to the clan cats as the sight, but these animals were unfamiliar with powers - and would bring luck to the cats in the group. all of the kittens in the litter were named in a similar fashion - vera, fantasma, and fortuna. it was soon discovered the littlest she-kitten was the one with the power when she was able to perfectly read the moods of those around her. fortuna grew up being pampered by the members of her group like a princess. luck did come to them; during her life there, they managed to greatly expand their territory, defeat the rival rogue group in a large battle, and collect more than enough food each winter. up until she turned seven moons old, her life was perfect. that's when her siblings got fed up of simply being her shadow; they never got any attention because of her mystical power. so vera and fantasma knocked her over the head with a rock while she slept and dragged her unconscious form miles from the territory, concealing their scents with strong herbs. she woke up a to later to find herself all alone.

fortuna couldn't believe she was doing this. her parents had always warned her about the clans; they'd always explained how those clan cats would kill her in a heartbeat if she ever tried to step onto one of their borders. but she was far from her parents now, and she could see a thunderstorm brewing in the distance. she whimpered as a drop of scarlet blood trickled down her forehead from the mysterious gash and bruise that had appeared on her head before wiping it off with a white paw and sat her trembling form on the border of hawkclan. she took a deep breath, reminding herself of what to say, before calling out a meek, "hello?"

visiting hawkclan had changed fortuna's view on the clans completely.

first of all, it was much, much bigger than she ever could've imagined; it had been overwhelming at first. second, not only we're dogs and cats living in harmony, but as well as tigers and lions and the like. in the small rogue group she'd been born into, they were made up of only domestic felines, nothing else. she'd learned others had powers like here - some gave you the ability to change your appearance completely, others let you talk through your mind. it was amazing, though she hadn't met anyone with her specific ability yet.

fortuna had planned to only stay in hawkclan for a day or two, get some medical treatment, and then go out in search of her home again. but .. the rogue group she'd lived in, it had been too perfect, too ordinary. after seeing what the clans had to offer, her past life looked bland. and there were so many other clans to explore! she'd silently decided to herself she would travel the lands, offering her abilities to each clan for a few days, see their culture and lifestyle, and then move onto the next. who knows, if she liked one we'll enough, she might stay there forever.

fortuna was humming happily to herself as she stopped on the windclan border, hoping that passing loner had lead her in the right direction. cobwebs were wrapped around the gash on her head, and her emerald green eyes glittered as she waited to be approached. "hello?"

fortuna shuffled her paws, not comfortable standing on the concrete that made up the bridge. she looked up at cambrian, emerald eyes widening, heart skipping a beat. she let out a yelp and stumbled back, trembling even more. "p-please don't eat me!" she squeaked, cowering down in fear. that was a tiger!

that same question, huh? fortuna's eyes flashed as she triggered the sight, examining fadedglory's aura wistfully. interesting. she blinked, swallowing, looking much less like the trembling mess she had upon approaching hawkclan. "i am fortuna," the seven-moon-old responded in her even voice, "but you may call me fora. i am here to request to take shelter in windclan's territory for merely a night or two. in exchange for this kind favor, i will offer serving as if i am a member of your group myself for as long as i stay." she smiled and dipped her head a little.

fortuna's face flushed with heat when she was called a pretty lady; she had been sought after as a partner in her old group, yes, but mostly because of her powers - never because of her looks. she purred, "oh, th-thank you," with a small giggle. "i was in the area and simply wanted to observe in case i ever want to join." she dipped her head to mascaratears. medicine cat? she assumed that was windclan's equivalent of hawkclan's shaman.

( by having your character volunteer to be read you give me permission to have fortuna use the sight on them. c: )

fortuna whisked her white-capped tail side to side as she gingerly stepped into the center of camp, green eyes shifting back and forth. she didn't enjoy feeling as if all attention was on her, even if it wasn't. yet. hopefully she would attract at least a little. she sat down slowly, watching the bustle of windclan for just a moment before calling out, "would anyone be interested in having their aura read?"

"this is no joke. allow me to demonstrate - thank you for volunteering, sir." fortuna turned with a gentle smile in the direction of hungergames, emerald optics flashing as she activated her power. immediately, blurbs of color began swirling around each gathered animal like blobs of water colors. she focused specifically on hungergames before explaining, "an aura is the colors your soul reflects - or at least, that's what I believe it is. i will be able to read bits of your personality, and maybe your paste depending on the appearance of the aura. everyone who wants will get a chance." this tom - he was enveloped in a bright orange hue, brown flecks swimming in it's outer edges. at the very center was a brilliant green that stood out against the rest. "from what I can tell, you are a very cheerful person, accepting and warm. you can be a bit selfish, but you are still learning and growing. you are very protective of your friends and family, and tend to be down-to-earth." fortuna looked to hungergames to see if he agreed or not, hoping she'd demonstrated herself well.

( thank you so much wolfy .u.
    though Leo hasn't volunteered )

fortuna looked to butterflywings with a gentle smile. "i believe you were next," she chirped, steeling on and preparing to read another aura. the main hue was a very pale pink, so light in color it almost looked like she didn't have an aura at all. it was wrung with a thin line of orange and a thicker line of crimson red, the colors of a sunset. in the center was an olive color, like a mix between green and brown. "from what I am picking up," she began, "you are very nurturing and kind, and loyal to all of your clanmates. i suggest you are wary of this loyalty, however, because you may end up with a fragile heart. you are quiet, and yet you have a strong opinion on everything, even if you may be afraid to voice it sometimes. you are very optimistic and always see the best in everyone. you are passionate and determined, as well as indepenent and down-to-earth." she blinked. "yes?"

lloyd believed he was the biggest and baddest of them all.

his father had been a loner known for killing others. his mother .. he wasn't sure who he was. he'd been abandoned as a newborn at the front door of a small rogue group. he thought that, because of his lineage, he was destined to be a major criminal - and thought he already possessed most of the skills. but he was merely six moons old.

and he was about to be put into his place.

the young tom strode with a confident gait through the forest, unaware that he was on nox territory. he snickered. "just wait until those darkley's see how evil i can be," he muttered to himself, "then they'll regret kicking me out for not having enough 'dark potential.' hah!"

"wu-gah!" lloyd yelped, spinning around to face venizia and solar with wide, fearful emerald eyes. the six moon old shrunk back a little before straightening himself up, reminding hismelf that evil didn't fear anything. he cleared his throat. "i mean .. shouldn't i be the one asking your business?" he had no idea he was on clan territory.
