He'd lost this fight before, and while he was still too stubborn to not protest, he was well aware that his protests would make no difference to his parents.     In Gray's opinion, they went out far too often anyways. Every weekend without fail they had some sort of event planned. Whether is be couple's dance classes or maybe even some sort of high-class dinner at a friend's, the middle-aged couple always had something planned. Jax, the oldest of the Roulston kids, informed Gray that this had been going on since he was barely three years old. Gray found it extremely odd that their father was even willing to do these types of things.




    The woman before him had a temper just as short as she was. Talking to her was like walking through a minefield: one wrong word and you're better off dead. Of course, she liked to present herself as much more sophisticated and mild-mannered that that. Most never saw this snappy side of her. In fact, Gray would go so far as to say that it was reserved solely for family. "How many times," she started, her tone entailing she wasn't as angry as she could be, "do I have to tell you that until we're absolutely positive we can trust you with Lil, you're going to have to deal with us getting a babysitter. Besides, he's supposed to be your age. Maybe you'll become friends."




    "Wait, wait, wait," Gray exclaimed, his eyes widening, "he? You hired a male babysitter? What if he tries to do something weird with Lily?!" This question was met with a blank stare from his mother, and he immediately sighed in defeat. It was worth a shot. "Can I at least leave then? If you're getting a babysitter can't I go somewhere else?"




    Mrs. Roulston shook her head, raising a slim, dainty hand to her face. Her nails were painted a bright, royal blue and they glistened in the artificial light of their home as she pinched the bridge of her nose. "No, Gray. You're still in trouble for letting Lily stay up until past midnight last time. Not to mention you're never home anymore. Stay here. Make a friend."




    Despite the fact that he was almost positive she would have kept on with this tirade had she not been interrupted, the sound of someone rapping on their door cut her off. With one last glare at her middle child, she shuffled off towards the door in her five inch heels that still only brought her to a lucky 5'6''. With a dazzling smile, she opened the door with Gray's 6'2'' father standing just behind her. "You must be Mr. Hanson, am I correct?"
