Windpaw blinked. What-where am I? he thought, staring up at Shadepaw and Creekfeather
Windpaw nodded and slumped to the ground. "He's dead. Stonekit. It's my fault," he said after coughing out some more ash, "if I head been faster, I could've saved him."
Windpaw didn't respond. He got up and limped after her. "What happened?" He asked, after he caught up to her.
Windpaw murmured, "thank you for saving my pelt." He licked a burn spot on his side. "But more importantly, will you be okay?" He asked worriedly.
Windpaw pushed up against her. "I'll be here with you," he said, purring, "you can count on me, Shadepaw."
"Do you need me to lead you to the others?" Windpaw asked quietly.
Windpaw drapped his tail over her shoulders. "There's no shame in not seeing." He murmured to her. "I'll still love you no matter what." He whispered in her ear, as he led her around a small shoot of fire. He managed to get Shadepaw to the most secure part of the Abandoned Twoleg nest with the kits and injured.
"Need herbs?" Windpaw asked, looking at her. ![]()
"I know. Herbs will help you," he said patiently, slightly taken aback by by Shadepaw's tone of voice.
"Your not useless. And you never will be." Windpaw reassured her sternly.
"I don't care, because that not going to happen!" Wijdpaw said fiercely. "Where can you find this herb?" He asked Creekfeather.
Windpaw turned to Shadepaw, but she wasn't there. "Shadepaw?" He asked, worried.
Windpaw hissed under his breath. Ugh, I'm stupid! he thought angrily. "Wheres the herb?" He repeated.
"NI dont know. Too late now," he mewed, pulling her away before flames set the plant on fire. "Careful there."
"I'm trying to help. Only its not working, because Creekfeather hasn't told mecwhere to find it!" Windpaw said.
Pretty coolz!
Thistlepaw flattened his ears. "You derserve a horrible dare!"
Windpaw grinned at Shadepaw, kind of hiding a side of his face, because he lost some of his fur there. He winced, his burns aching horribly.
Windpaw shrugged. "The rain is started to put it out." He said, licking tenderly at his scratches and burns. "Can I have sokething for these?" He asked Creekfeather crossly. "Or should I be knocked out again?"
Windpaw rolled his eyes, "never mind!"dHe sat beside Shadepaw, licking his burns.
