"I think we can agree we all acted like idiots at one point or another." Hyla said with an unenthusiastic grin. "But hey, we lived. Facing a genocidal army of bloodthirsty hybrids'll be a piece of cake." His tone was lighter again, as if he couldn't make up his mind on his mood.

Liz climbed over the fence, dropping down nimbly on the other side. She didn't wait for the others as she bounded around the ruins, not wanting to see what was left of the wretched place. There was a somewhat intact tree along the outskirts of one of the empty parking lots, and she clawed her way up to the uppermost branches to peer over the horizon. "It looks like a bit of a climb." She called down, voice heavy. She looked at Hyla, an expectant smile growing on her lips. It faded as she realized he was avoiding her gaze again. Her eyes narrowed a bit as she made her way to the ground.

Hyla glanced at Ryouta. "Sort of, yeah." He muttered, as if ashamed. "I mean, I knew her; clearly not very well." His tone was dull again, borderline bitter. He continued walking, absent mindedly brushing away a strand of rain-slicked hair that had stuck to his face. After a moment's hesitation, he spoke up again. "Speaking of histories, doesn't Sho have a history with escaping?" He pointed out, changing the topic to something more productive. "If she has experience escaping from a lab full of scientists and stuff, maybe we can figure out how she can help us get her out of there."

"Yeah. Same sort of dynamic, though." Hyla said, lost in thought. "I know it sounds stupid, but what if we split up?" He suggested, sounding as if he wasn't too confident in the idea himself. "I mean... We could just rush them head on, but eight of us against an army..." He shrugged. "We could surround the place, try to cause some confusion, grab her and, you know," He grinned. "Run for it."

Liz drew to a halt, and smiled back at Ryouta. "It was the least I could do." She said, eyes glowing in the dimming light. "And I believe my friends have turned on me already." She added, a small disheartened smile on her face. "But I do hope you can save yours." She began making her way up the rocky terrain.

Once Liz was out of earshot, Hyla jogged up behind Ryouta. "Come with us? Are you crazy?" He asked in a hushed, urgent tone. "I mean, Felix isn't the only one she's betrayed. There's no telling what side she's even on." Underneath his nigh desperate tone, there was a hint of hurt. "I just don't trust her." He said, and after a moment sighed exasperatedly. "We should just focus on getting Sho out. If Liz even survives we can just, you know, cross that bridge when we get to it."

    (Essays man.... not fun. lol)

"Fine." Hyla said, hands in his pockets as he kept walking. He looked around, tense; death seemed imminent right now, and yet he wasn't too keen on talking to many of the other people in his attack squad- or whatever they were going to call it- about their plan. He eventually turned to Luna. "Do you know which entrances we should take?" He asked, obviously on edge. "Or exits for that matter," He said, glancing at Cam, Ryouta, and the bounty hunters. "You guys'll have better luck fighting them off. We've got runners and a flier, we can try to get Sho out." He spoke tentatively, beginning to feel like a coward for only ever looking for ways to run away from whatever impending battle they encountered.

Liz flicked her ears. "I suppose it could work." She said tentatively. "But it is risky. If any of you enter as prisoners, who is to say they will not kill you on the spot?" She asked, sounding concerned.
"And you care because?" Hyla asked, sceptic. "You'll be welcomed back as a hero, won't you?" His tone was still begrudging. He didn't wait for an answer before turning to Ryouta. "Who should go in?" He asked, looking around at their group.

"'Kay," Hyla said, trying to sound less stressed than he was. "But wasn't the other girl after us as well? Why risk dying to help her if she's out to kill us?" He asked, clearly tense. "We might not even last ten seconds in there; I don't want to hang around longer than we have to." He turned to Gebhard sharply at his suggestion. The man had a lot of nerve to suggest blowing people up after Hyla had crashed a helicopter earlier specifically to avoid doing so. He decided to keep his mouth shut.

"I'll be out before you can blink," Hyla said, grinning to relieve the palpable tension. "But, I mean, Sho is top priority. I'd rather get her out alive than have both of us die trying to save anyone who's worked against us." He pointed out with an inconspicuous glance at Liz, who huffed back at him. In all honesty, he was worried. If it were just him, he might be able to manage an escape if he could get out and into the treetops. It would be difficult for the fliers to pursue him there, and the runners would have to waste time climbing up after him. With Sho? Maybe; she was light, and she'd managed to cling to his back the last time, but there was no way Despina would be able to keep up. She was tall, not particularly fast and pretty ungraceful. Maybe he'd just free her and leave her to fend for herself. As for Liz... well, she could keep up, unless they killed her. The thought was unpleasant; what would a genocidal army of killer mutants do to a traitor? He pushed the thought to the back of his mind, insisting that he didn't care.

"Alright then." Hyla said, voice tight as he glanced at Liz, hesitating a bit before bounding up beside her. "Hope you're a good actress." He said flatly, staring at the path up to the cave. He looked over at Luna; it would be helpful to have two possible methods of escape, running or flying. Maybe they could buy some time that way.
"You say that as if you finally believe I'm not acting right now." Liz said with a sly, albeit nervous grin. She took a light breath before making her way up the slope to the entrance, slinking back and forth around her 'prisoners'. "Put your hands up." She said in a low growl. As they reached the cusp of the slope, she halted, lashing her tail. "Felix!" She shouted, voice having switched promptly from lucid and teasing to sharp and harsh.

Hyla watched Vitani, teeth gritted. She really was insane. Liz fell back to walk alongside the other two as they were led into the cave. It was almost pitch dark inside, but the two of them could see fairly well. It didn't take long for Hyla to spot Sho, and the blue haired girl shooting her death glare at everyone around. The place was crawling with hybrids, it was unnerving. He glanced at Liz, unsure of what to do, but she was staring straight ahead with the same cold, unforgiving eyes as before. She was beginning to even more two-faced. He looked back at Sho with a quick, reassuring smile.

(Sorry for the short post, getting ready for school c: )

Liz followed, taking a seat off to the side, between the prisoners and their interrogators. Her eyes gleaned in the darkness, the rest of her face masked behind her dark hair. Hyla was staring silently at Vitani and Felix, formulating false stories in his head, should he need to use them. He wasn't the best liar, but in this case, he could easily get away with telling pieces of the truth.

Hyla furrowed his brow, a look of genuine confusion on his face. His gaze darted to Liz momentarily; this hadn't been a part of the plan. He opened his mouth to speak, but couldn't seem to come up with a way to break the deadlock. He had to say something, he couldn't let them kill Sho, but how could he when he had nothing to reveal? Unsure of what else to say, he replied to Sho. "They're fine." He said, testily, not turning his gaze from Felix. Looking to buy time, he retorted. "How would you know? I wasn't even from the same wing of the lab as them."

Despina struggled against her captors, disregarding the claws against her neck. She just wanted to get out of here; this whole thing was wickedly deranged. Eyes boiling, she glared at the dragon-boy, grimacing into the gag covering her mouth.

Liz watched, pacing lazily back and forth along the edge of the cave, glowing eyes fixed on the scene before her. She pursed her lips, as if tasting words on her tongue, but decided not to speak up just yet.

"I know." Liz chimed in, nonchalantly, staring with uncanny calmness at Felix. Unlike Hyla, she seemed to be disregarding Sho's impromptu transformation, pacing along the edge of the cave. "And I'll tell you, if you'll give me a small, feathered favour in return." She said, grinning coolly and running her tongue along her pointed teeth in a predatory manor. Hyla shot her a glance, a look of shock and suspicion on his face, both due to whatever was happening to Sho and the fact that Liz's acting was becoming a bit too convincing again. She was practically impossible to read.
"Look, I don't actually know what you want from me," Hyla said, trying to keep whatever Liz was trying to pull at bay and struggling avoid sounding panicked. "Is there, I don't know, a test or something? Clearly if I even have these super powers they're not exactly helpful." He said, hoping to buy time.

Despina's eyes widened, her eyebrows furrowed as she tried to push herself back across the floor away from the rabid girl. She had never regretted getting involved in something so much in her life: here she was surrounded by flesh eating mutant hybrids with no means of escape. Her teeth were digging into her lip, drawing blood as she struggled to break free, her heart pounding so loud she'd have sworn she could hear it echoing off the cave walls.

"That- that doesn't make sense." Hyla said, backing away. "Why us? The completely unrelated runaways who were lucky enough to break out? There's no correlation." His voice was full of denial, and he couldn't help but glance at Liz with somewhat terror-stricken eyes. He'd known her for ages: she couldn't have just become like these flesh-eating monsters overnight. No matter what side she was on. His gaze darted between Sho, Luna, Felix and Liz: this was getting out of hand way too quickly. Still backing away inch by inch, he headed slowly in Sho's direction, not taking his eyes off Felix. How he was going to get her away from the dragon-boy's goons, he didn't know, but in the midst of this discord, he was dying for the familiar thrill of a running escape.

    (nuuu luna D: )

Hyla's eyes widened as Felix slitted Luna's throat, and he instinctively pulled Sho behind him and backed away in Liz's direction, hoping desperately that she was still on their side. "We're going home all right." He breathed tensely, glancing back with a look of despondent hope. Her expression offered no condolence as she watched Felix approach, eyes glowing coldly in the blackness. "Clearly some of us are not as capable of seeing the bigger picture," She said, turning her icy gaze to Hyla and Sho. "It would appear that your mind is not as quick as your legs." She added to Hyla with a slight mocking smile. "Certainly a weakness that is easy to play upon." She seemed to be emphasizing her words... differently, Hyla noticed. For a few seconds he stared at her with a perplexed look, before raising his head slightly, and turning slowly to look at Sho. The grin on his face could only suggest one thing coming from him.

"Time to go. Hang on." Hyla said quietly, before swiftly hoisting Sho onto his back as he continued to move away from Felix. Without warning, he turned rapidly and sprinted straight up the cave wall, before adjusting his course to head for the exit. Liz growled and took off after them, but was unable to ascend the wall. She followed along the bottom, a few paces behind. He wasn't sure what to expect once thy entered the main part of the cave where the rest of the hybrids were, but he knew that only some of them- likely the fliers- would be able to reach him, and those that did may not be able to see as well, or be quick enough to catch him. At least, that's what he was hoping.

Despina had hardly even been surprised when the young girl had transformed and taken out the hybrids holding them hostage. Once the guy- Felix or something- had turned his attention away from the dead bird girl, she began trying to undo her clasps. It was easier without a flesh eating creep breathing up her neck. Before long, she'd freed her hands and was removing the gag. There was a sudden scuffing of foot steps, and she squinted in the darkness, just barely able to make out a flash of green-yellow hair partway up the cave wall. Hell, if they were making their exit, she wasn't going to stick around for the aftermath. She made a break for the other side of the cave, nearly tripping over the cat girl from earlier. She decided to follow her; with a cat's night vision she'd probably follow the frog boy straight to the way out.

Hyla stumbled as Vitani lunged up at him. The easiest way out was down, but there was no way in hell he was going to jump into the flesh hungry mob down there. He kicked up and back, latching into the cave roof. It would be difficult to move quickly up here, but at least they would only have to worry about the fliers, and climbers for that matter. He noticed a bit of an itch on his forehead, and realized with a pang that Vitani's claws must have just grazed him as he'd jumped. He hoped desperately that it wasn't deep enough to be dripping blood onto the cave floor below. He could hear footsteps along the edge of the cave wall, light and nimble followed by clumsy and loud. That Despina girl didn't seem to get the whole stealth part of the situation. Squinting, he could see faint moonlight glowing through a small exit. It looked to be less accessible from the cave floor, in the top corner of the space. He made a beeline for it, silent as he could, struggling to keep a grip at all times; it was really slowing him down, and they were so close to escaping it was driving him mad. He only hoped that Liz planned on escaping with them, and not hindering their situation. He knew for a fact that she was an incredibly fast runner as well, usually not as fast has him, but with the slight bit of Sho's extra weight on his back, she stood a chance, to say the least. Hyla hoped she'd make up her mind and choose the right side this time.
