Lorden muttered, looking at Bellamy intently. As the light in the sky began to darken and the features of the land before him slowly dimmed, Lorden's eyes alterd so he could see in the dim world. Though he wasn't the best at picking up scents, his eyes and ears were by far his best qualities; even though his ears were cropped.
He wondered many times in his life how good his hearing would be if his owner never cut'em, but he didn't resent the man for it. Besides, he kinda liked having such ears. He wondered briefly how his sister would look in cropped ears, and the thought of that seemed to bring up memories of his cheerful sibling. Sadness took over the male's face, thoughts of him never seeing his sister again threatening to destroy his happy memories.
The male made a 'Tch' sound and began to pad away from the two dogs. "I'll catch up to you later." He affirmed, trotting into the city. Right now he wanted to be alone, knowing it could easily mean the last they see of him. Or, unless, he became a biter and went after them. His melancholic state broke slightly as he delved into the wonders of the infected animals. Do they remember their past lives? He thought not, since they didn't seem to try to bite someone in particular. Does the infection cause them to lose body parts? That would explain the missing eyes and loss of ears he had seen, but they could have easily lost that in their former life. Is the infection similar to that other disease(rabies)? That would explain their need to bite someone. Maybe the infection could be related to that somehow...hm. While he was pondering in his own little world, he seemed to have attracted an actual Biter. He was unaware of it making its way to him until he heard it growl lowly. Lorden was able to see its form perfectly, but not its characteristics, which he was disappointed it. The Biter, on the other hand, didn't seem to see the male that good, since it was making its way to him slowly, squinting with its one eye. The other was hanging loosely from its socket. Lorden tensed up, for he hadn't fought a Biter since he got seperated from his sister. But, the creature could be a good vent for all the male's pent up anger. Circling the Biter,--who just turned with him-- he wondered how to kill it without getting bitten.
The Biter though, didn't seem to have any courtesy, for after a few seconds of turning along with Lorden, he let loose another low growl and charged toward him. Lorden made a sound of annoyance as he shrunk to the ground and rolled away, then jumping up and to the male without a second inbetween. He was grateful it was his size--even a little smaller, for it proved to be quite an easy task to ram the beast onto his back, then, having a paw on the creatures chin, making its maw immobile, the brute tore at its exposed throat, disgusted by the blood the seeped into his mouth.
When the body of the distorted animal ended its last convulse of pain, Lorden was up and beginning to take leave, for the smell of blood, even as rotten as that, would most likely attract more Biters. Spitting the last few droplets of the disgusting blood out of his mouth he decided he might as well delve farther into the city.
Though he began to doubt his decision to head deeper into the city when it became even darker, the night slowly closing in. Just when he was about to turn around, the faint smell of blood caught the male's attention. Unlike the rotting smell of the Biters, this...this smelt somewhat alive, like it came from a living animal. The tantalizing thought of it being a wounded animal pushed him forward, even though knowing it could have easily been a Biter, eating a living dog.
With a fast lope he followed the growing smell of blood, finally slowing when he glimpsed the form of something against a building. He immediately felt the instinct to turn around, but the scent of blood was coming from that figure. Besides, he thought, if it is a Biter I can probably kill it. It looks like it's smaller than me. My sister's smaller than me..could, could it be?
Deciding to take the risk with the hopeful thought of his sister, he loped toward the figure, making sure his claws didn't connect with the pavement.
He stopped a few meters away, tensing up as he leaned his head outwards towards the shape, deciding to let it react first, for he didn't want to speak unless he was sure it wasn't a biter.
