Skidding over the wet pavement, the aggressor swings in a huge over head arc. Hitting nothing but air and with plenty of room to avoid hitting either of the frightened people on the ground in front of him. The wild force of his swing twists his feet in the wet gravel, sending him to the pavement hard. Jarring his knees and scuffing his hands, sending the chain wrapped bat clattering across the pavement, he stumbles and rushes to the stunned little boy. "Gavin, Gavin! Are you okay?!" He says, struggling to be heard over the shrieking siren, softly shaking the small child.
"You!" He cries, glaring at the obviously frightened, mud covered miscreant. "What do you think you're doing?!" He roars over the heavily pounding rain. Tugging the younger boy, Gavin, back into the street he retrieves the soggy bat and points it in the direction of the shaking shrub.
"You-You don't TAKE people! You don't!" He screams, his voice cracking in panicked fear. He stands panting in the rain, trying to make sense of this new nightmare unfolding around him.
Gavin moves his small frame from behind his rescuer, looking to the mud covered girl and back up at the ashen faced teen. "Ryce, Ryce" he chants softly, trying to wrench his small arm from a panic induced tight grasp. "Rens, Ryce! Rens!" He continues, slapping him about the legs with the rain splattering rabbit.
Shaking with exhaustion, the older boy seems to regain a sense of the dangers always stalking them out in the open. He lowers the bat weakly and glares up and down the torrential streets. His ears full of nothing but ringing and his own pounding heart, he looks again to the huddled figure and begins to slowly back away.

Tobias let his mind drift as he shoveled more cheese covered chips in his mouth.
He daydreams of the waves that must be hitting ahead of the storms he and his friends were eagerly anticipating. now miles away, washing some other lucky surfers ashore. Imagining how the cool, rain scented wind off the water must feel, the rushing roar of the ground swells building seemingly forever behind one another. The feeling of that perfect monster sweeping up underneath you, carving a frothy path up and down the glassy face, and finding that perfect place to hang in the tube.
"Yeah" he sighs to himself, swearing he can hear the wave breaks intensify and feel the breeze picking up around him.
" Aww, lame!" Tobias yells. suddenly finding the cheese covered empty foam plate and icy leftovers of his drained drink settled unceremoniously in his lap. Shooting to his feet to sweep the trash from his shorts he glances around quickly mumbling under his breath "Totally bogus..." luckily none seemed to be looking in his direction. -
Looking up at the sound of Shilohs voice, Tobias was stunned to see the waves of his dreams heading toword shore. Jumping in place and letting out a whoop of excitement, he leaps the banister of the porch to land in the sand. Wrenching his board free, he runs after Shiloh.
Barely a boards length from the deck of the eatery, he pauses, dropping his board into the sand and turns to clamber back over the wooden railings of the Tiki's deck.
"Tobias!" A harsh voice chides from the interior of the restaurant. "Sorry, sorry!" Tobias says, chasing his strewn food containers across the deck. "How many times I need tell you? There's stairs for that, Bro!" The Tiki's owner exclaims, smiling as he watches the blonde haired boy chasing down trash.
"I know, I know..." Tobias pants, tossing the garbage into the proper receptacle. "But look," He exclaims, pointing seaward. "ground swells as far as the eye can see! Guess your brothers back home aren't getting our storm after all, Kaihe!"
The imposing owner of the Tiki Taco follows the boy's gesture to see the capping waves. The native Hawaiian's Brown eyes widen in surprise and a smile comes easily to his broad face.
"Looks like you're right, kaikaina." He grins, using the familiar hawaiian term for" little brother".
Suddenly his face takes on a grimace "Aue! What did I jus tell you?!" He bellows after Tobias, watching him leap back over the railing to grab his board from its Sandy resting place.
" Aloha!" Tobias yells, spinning he runs backward in the sand a few paces to wave at his friend. "Must be harsh having to sit in the shack all day and miss these waves" he thinks as he splashes out into the salty surf.(OOC: Man that got long...sorry :p)

Sizing up what he now sees is a young girl, in front of him. He begins to realize it could've just been a mistake. He would hope if something happened to him, Gavin wouldn't be alone in this. But Still, enemies come in all forms.
Loosing his grip on Gavin's arm the older boy looks down into the rain soaked face staring up at him. "come on. Up." He murmurs over the din, holding his open hand toward the boy.
No sooner than the words escape his lips, Gavin's small hand clutches the slightly shaky hand stretched out in front of him. In one swift movement, the small child is swung up, across the chest and around the back of his larger counterpart.
As Gavin begins to situate himself on broad, rain soaked shoulders, He grasps a clump of wet Sandy hair in his free hand, The other still holding the dirt covered rabbit.
The older boy seems less agitated now, but still he suspiciously glances around, not to be taken by surprise by the rest of the girl's party. He watches her closely, readjusting his grip on the bat.
"You're wrong, you know." The older boy says slowly. He seems calmer and more composed with the secure weight of Gavin upon his shoulders. Guesturing with the bat at the line of commuters he continues; "They're the ones you need to be careful around."
Gavin squirms on his perch, bringing his hands up to cover his ears. In the process the mud coated rabbit splatters across the young man's face. "Rens!" Gavin whines, kicking his heels against the teens chest.
"Gavin, stop!" His guardian insists, grasping a flailing limb and attempting to brush the rabbit out of his face. "We're not travelling with that trail of panicky food." He says turning his attention back to the girl. "And I'd advise you not to either. Go back to your family, and stop trying to take mine." He finishes with a small shrug of his shoulders, adjusting Gavin's weight. It wasn't in his nature to end his last words with a bite, but he couldn't help but feel on edge about nearly loosing his brother. -
Tobias hopped up to lay outside on the wide porch railing of the cabin. He loved watching the sunset from here, plus he could hear the guys inside going on about that witch lady. Crappy that the whole psychic thing had gone south so quickly, and it had started out so fun with all the cool stuff in the shop.
The unexpected swells that afternoon had helped wash the bad experience firmly to the back of his mind, where he wouldn't have to deal with it ever again. He closed his eyes and breathed in the cooling air, swinging one leg lazily down over the rail. -
The older boy subconsciously flinches at Gia's quick movements, but turns smoothly back in the direction of Digby's. " Well, nowhere tonight." He says glancing somewhat suspiciously over at her. He can't help but be a bit thankful for conversation, even guarded small talk. He slowly takes a few steps back in the direction of the street, his immediate goal to retrieve The supplies from where they dropped in the broken glass of the storefront.
"Its not a good idea to leave this area at night." He says, Wiping the constant rain from his face. "I think there's some nest or whatever nearby." The older teen continues, sliding down and then up the opposite side of the shallow ditch, balancing his brother with ease only gained out of experience.
Turning to look back at her, he wonders just what exactly she's doing out here. Most puzzling, is that no one seems to be out to accompany her. A dangerous act considering the time of day, wailing sirens and the unfamiliarity of this town to anyone passing through.
Gavin ,however, grins across the ditch from the safety of his perch, his small cheeks dimpling slightly. Releasing the hold on his brother's hair to wave in her direction. Suddenly Gavin is forced to quickly clutch for another hand hold.and Gia, once again finds herself on the receiving end of his brother's piercing glare. Looking quickly from Gia, then down the gloomy street, the tense young man grasps one of Gavin's legs securely.
A shadowy figure, from the direction of the highway.
"I was right," he thinks to himself "someone is coming for her...or us." Knuckles white around the grip of the bat, he stands to face the incoming figure. -
"Just another kid," He thought, relaxing a bit. "Probably her boyfriend or something..." taking a few steps back towards the store, he shrugs at the girl. Then confidently turning his back on the two, he begins on his way to Digby's. The sirens still sounding in and out, and although the line of people may attract some of the creatures, Gavin was still in danger.
'It was strange to see not only one but two younger kids on the same night,' he thought as his shoes splashed over the wet pavement. 'That's not my problem.' Gavin's grip on his hair confirmed he was indeed making the right decision.
This wasn't the first time he had come across someone who was alone and needed "help", and hell if he didn't Learn his lesson the first time around. People are desperate now, and willing to take you for everything you have without batting an eye.
Even though, He couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for leaving her staring at his back as he strode down the street. He justified it by knowing they had already spent too much time in the open. And thinking back on it, kids were the bait for the first attack on him and Gavin.
Pausing in front of the department store, he turns to peer through the drizzle at the muddled outlines of the two younger teens, he can't help but have a lingering thought, "maybe she doesn't know him..." he blanched at the idea of her being attacked due to his inaction. torn between his brothers safety and his kind heart , he took a few tentative steps back in thier direction, she was just trying to help...he hoped. -
Standing squinting into the rain, sleep deprived brain struggling to make sense of what's happening,,'She's running from him! I was right! Wait, is he coming at us? Could she be Circling around back? An attack on us? They have no weap-' "Ow, hey!" His muddled thoughts interrupted by Gavin tearing at his hair, his name being yelled over the sirens,
"Ryce! Ryce!" Gavin shrieks, yanking hair for all he's worth. That's when it clicks. They're running FROM something, and that something is approaching fast. "No, wait!" The older brother yells after Gia, reaching out in her direction. She obviously she has experienced attacks before.
Hoping the newcomer can either keep up or hide well, he turns and crunches through the broken store front, mentally cringing at the supplies he had so carefully gathered into his pack earlier. Now, strewn across the shiny tiles. maybe he could comeback for them, if they survived.
Digby's had been thier daily hangout for a while now, Gavin loved the toy isle and it gave him time to think. Digging through rotten food for one useable can wasn't his favorite reflection site, but at least Gavin was happy.
Now, heart pounding, he Jumps an overturned shopping cart. hearing the sound of his wet shoes squeak as he turns a hard left into isle twelve. Frozen foods. Everything long since rotten, it was the one isle the boys never came down. It gave him a nauseating feeling, not just the smell but the memory of what used to be.
Pizza night with his family, the glow of the television, The fresh snap of a soda can being opened, the deep laugh of thier father when Gavin selects the same DVD they watched last week. The sound of Mom microwaving popcorn in the kitchen, pre heating the oven for thier frozen pizza.
Gone. All gone now, replaced with panic, with fear, with a heavy thud, as he forces thier way through the stock room door. In the stock room at the back of the frozen foods isle, the smell is far worse. And he can hear Gavin moan, pulling the rabbit to his face as rotten milk stench burns thier eyes. Stumbling clumsily through the darkened room, banging into pallets and tripping over loose cans he manages to keep from spilling Gavin to the floor.
Shoving at the small door to the left of the loading docks, he finally forces it open with a loud bang. On the other side, the wail of sirens accompanies a familiar stinging blast of cold rain into thier faces.
Wide eyes quickly scan the narrow street, no sign of movement, "God, I hope I didn't miss her." he thinks to himself, stepping out into the dark alleyway.
"Ry-Ry!" At the sound of Gavin's voice he pauses, nearly forgetting. Glancing past his brothers leg to the darkened doorway, He watches as the door slowly swings to shut off the stock room behind them. "Did that kid make it behind us? Did he even try to follow? Did he try to hide in the store? Did they catch him? Dragging him to the cold hard tiles with thier cold hard teeth?" -
A moment of surprise came over him as the girl appeared hot on his heels through the door, he didn't think she had heard him. "No I- I don't know." He replies, moving towards the end of the alley. "The library," he shouts at her over the sirens. Pausing, he looks uncertainty back at the store. "There's a cellar entrance around the back, ladder up to the attic..." He trails off, watching the loading dock waiting for the kid to appear.
He never thought he'd be guiding anyone thorough this small town, let alone to thier "safe house", but then he never thought he'd be running from hellish abominations either. Strange how familiar these cracked streets had become. The boys had only been here a week, Wanting to move on but fearing a lack of direction and supplies could be just as dangerous as staying put.
Gavin began swatting the rabbit against his brother's chest as the older boys indecision stalled them out in the open."Safe!" The little boy says pointing to The hazy outline of the library's steeple. It's gothic outline silhouetted briefly by a lightning flash. The old building sits silently in the dark, only a block or so away.
Peering through the downpour, scanning the streets; no movement. Maybe the creatures didn't see them run into the store, could this crappy weather actually be a blessing for them? He thought of the commuters, maybe they had been drawn out towards thier line. He didn't like the idea of them being attacked, but anymore the attitude was better them than us.
Feeling a strange unfamiliar lump of guilt building in his throat over the newcomers absence , he looks towards Gia futility trying to find an answer in her face. Was he really thinking of going back in the store, To find someone he knew nothing about? -

"You can't be sure, they don't all work like that," he says nervously searching the streets. He knew they had been pushing thier luck out here, even with the rain and sirens to muddle thier trail. He knew all to well there was no limit to the abilities these creatures possessed. even having the misfortune of discovering beasts with the ability to fly, swooping like screaming death from a seemingly empty sky to carry off someone's guard dog.
"Some of them know where you are anyway...body heat or maybe they even hear your heart!" He couldn't let her go back inside alone. Not only was the store front not secure in anyway , but he was sure the time him and Gavin spent there daily had to attract attention nightly. She was just one small girl and the avalanche of creatures was more than enough for even an army.
"Safe!" Gavin whined, pointing again in the direction of the Library. No he couldn't let her do this, it was suicide,"You can't go back in there!" His voice cracking with intensity, the hairs on his neck prickling with the feeling of being watched "He's probably fine, you'll just attract them to him, Come On!" Insisting strongly he reaches to grab her arm, hoping to prevent losing her to the wretched blackness of the store.
If he could just get them to the safe house, Gavin would be safe, they could regroup make a plan. At least then they might have a fighting chance of getting to the lost boy. As it was a chain covered bat and a soggy stuffed rabbit really wernt weapons of mass destruction. In the back of his mind he became aware of Gavin begining to shake atop his shoulders, things were definately taking a turn for the worse. -
A brief look of hurt read briefly across his rain soaked face. He had felt his heart sink into his stomach as she wrenched away from him. The cool rush of relief that followed as she agreed to accompany them, gave him hope that his still forming plan just might work.
"We've got to get Gavin to the Library!" He shouts, nodding her in its direction. Slipping in the rain slicked street, the boys lurched away from the store. 'He'll be fine, he has to be fine.' Convincing himself of that fact was proving harder than he thought. He couldn't fight away that sickening feeling in the pit of his stomach, the thoughts that said it's someone's little brother back there. That it could be Gavin.
Attempting to steel his mind againts disparate thoughts he focused on the streets ahead. He knew from past events that running head long into these creatures was always a mistake. The first time they were witness to this was just before they lost thier parents.
The small group they had been traveling with had continued to make mistake after mistake. Blundering into rouge gangs of violent people as well as foolishly attracting monsters with" bright fires that keep them away."
The nightmarish death of two twin girls, drug from the safe fireside by vicious, tearing teeth and claw of unseen chupacabra, had elicited a blind, rage fueled headlong rush from thier father. The whole incident had robbed both boys of many hours of sleep over the following months.
Now, splashing down the dark street, clutching Gavin close down over his back he switches his thoughts to the supplies they have stored. Of the small stash of strange weaponry, some homemade, and dangerous lookin. others, mundane and useless. All untested. Thoughts of how exactly to keep two kids safe, while rescuing a third. Or if the rescue would even be in time to help him... -
Still a few houses from the Library, he leads her across muddy back yards. To where unkempt grasses, small trees and a patch of thorny brambles huddle close to worn ,wooden doors that peek out above the sodden landscape. In one smooth motion Gavin swings down from his brothers back, running to stand by t he rain swollen doors. "Ry-Ry" the little boy peeps at his brother.
"I know Gav," the older boy responds, glancing around for glowing eyes in the dark, "You go through, straight to your hide place. Don't wait for us, just go." The double doors of the cellar weren't nearly as solid as he would like, But as he lifted them open, he was just glad they were there.
"Safe!" Gavin squeals, quickly disappearing as soon as he could squeezethrough into the darkness below. He leaves his brother behind, holding the glistening chain wrapped bat in one hand, the other, the frame of the aging wooden door. The achient splintery maw gapes hungrily out of the ground, as if trying to swallow the surrounding night into its already dark, inky throat .
Shaking tendrils of blond hair out of his face, a moment of tense silence,'Will she really follow strangers into the bowels of the earth?' Thinking, that split second of a moment, 'Does she even have a choice?' His green eyes search her face, 'Can she really be trusted with our safety? With Gavin?''Do I even have a choice?'
-
The creaking doors banged shut behind her, pitch black, musty earth scent. Scuffling sounds in the dark, a light brush past, a flickering of matchlight. Lumpy old candles begin slowly reaching thier rosy glow along the walls. "No, can't Just wait-" Someones brother back there, He thinks. "I have to do something...at least try..." could he live with himself if he didnt?
The growing candle light had become strong enough to begin refracting almost magically, into an array of tiny dancing lights across the tunnel. As eyes adjust to the dark can make out the ornate mosaic walls, accented with tiny bits of mirror. Every where you look, as if it were a cavern sparkling with as many diamonds as there are stars in the sky.
"Careful, there's stuff all over..." Ducking under an overhead support beam and hunching his tall, and somewhat lanky frame, he nears the end of the brilliantly mirrored shaft. turning, He can't help but notice how young she seems. standing there, nrvously hugging her companion animal. He couldn't blame her for being terrified, the creatures were nothing but death. and if she really were alone in all this, He couldn't imagine.
sure, It was hard taking care of Gavin, especially after thier parents death. Gavin had shut down, changed, but he Supossed they both had in a way. You can't expect to stay the same after something like that. At least Gavin was talking to him now, albeit in nothing but short syllables. But it was better than being completely alone in this waste of a world.
"Hey...y- kid, " he motions to her, "It gets bigger down here, wine cellar." True to his word, the glittering antichamber opens into a cobwebby maze of dusty old racks. Old bottles, some broken, sporadically litter the shelves and floor. Visible on the far side of the cellar, a narrow, corner Stone staircase. Bright, almost fluorescent light halos down from the stoop above, lending the crisscrossing, wooden racks a ghostly glow.
Making his way towards a shadowy corner rack, he inspects the shelves. Adorned Here with random objects instead of dust laden bottles., everything from sharpened sticks to barbed wire , even bottles of ammonia and bleach. Some of the objects had already been fashioned into menacing conglomerates: crowbar with flailing straps of razor blades, a homemade slingshot from sink pipes and even a container scrawled with the word NAPALM.
"Can you shoot or anything?" He asks, fumbling through a wooden crate. Pulling out an old flare gun he checks the charge is loaded, then slips it into his waist band. "Probably have to pull them away..."He mumbles.
Stopping himself again, he thinks; This could all be too much for her. Has to be creepy to follow complete strangers into a hole in the ground. Especially after how I came across her in the street, Probably traumatized her..."Maybe you should stay here." He says, his voice taking a slightly softer tone "you can go up, find Gavin. The tower is a great look out point, you keep me up on creature positions? Eye in the sky and all that?" He didn't know wether the walkies they had found in Digby's would really work, but it sounded good. -

I guess most personality will become evident as they grow, but it's already apparent this little dragon is easy going and laid back. Not one to be left behind tho, and will often follow siblings on adventures, even if it may get them in trouble with mom...( is mom naming hatchlings in story? Cause if so, that's adorable! And I don't care what gender if you have a preference ...)
