[ tl;dr: so basically Ash has this long-ass conversation with Solem at his old, OLD home ( Sol's birthplace ) and they decide to be a part of each other, so Solem helps Ash unlock the rest of his memories and gets all of Ash's memories, and then Solem "dies" when he goes to Daemon heaven and long story short Ash goes back to WindClan, his powers are working and he shifts back into a tortie, after a long day of character development and all goes well ]
Most people didn't understand that magic incorporated all of the supernatural - not just powers, but soul-morphing, reincarnation, and most important for Solem and Ash - soul-splitting and the ability for spirits to connect with the living, as they'd soon find out.

His head was pounding like hell - it made Ash cry out in pain, though of-fucking-course nobody could hear him. He... he had intended it to be so - Ash despised anyone seeing him in Solem's form, no matter how much his pride was wounded by the mere fact. He hated the former adviser - he stole Ash's life, he knew now - it wasn't any stranger's voice he had silenced, but his own, with the selfish desire to live burning inside him like hell's fire. The tortie - excuse me, siamese - had concealed himself in the farthest known place his psyche had touched. Not a clan, not the loner forest, not even the grove where his mother used to ignore him on her daily ritual of toughening Ash to stone - no. Those places were irrelevant to him now - only one place mattered besides WindClan, and his tiny paws had marched there with a regal assured pose that would drill into even the thickest imbeciles that he meant business.
The smell had hit him first - a deep, charred, smokey smell that had a tint of gasoline and dirty fur lurked about the area, stinging his senses but calming Ash's mind. Rotting food was among the noxious mix, although he was not worried - his dream had prepared him for this. For the memories of life at the burned, rotting, molding carnival. Ash shut his eyes tightly, stepping over where he believed the border line to be - the faint smell of cat piss hung about as well, creating a fume that humans would have repelled. However, to Ash, this toxic scent was exactly what he was searching for.
The tortie next pricked his ears, listening for life - birds chirped in the distance and insects and rodents scuttled about quietly, but no voices were heard, along with the scuffing of claws against the ground. Ash exhaled slowly, not even realizing he had taken the sharp intake - perhaps his nerves had chosen to react only in the privacy of his body, rather than in his mentality. He appreciated that; his thoughts couldn't be murky with uncertainty and fear, not now.
Finally he cracked open his eyes, almost scared that despite constantly re-occurring evidence, the land that he laid his paws on wouldn't be the same as in his mind.
To keep things short - it was. The same, faded colors spread about the amusement park gave it an ancient air, whilst the trash that littered the main grounds added to the flare the place had. Surely it had been the attraction of a young teen's dare before - with the waiting atmosphere that hung about, why shouldn't this place be? It was... thrilling, how it seemed to wait with baited breath for someone to stir it from its rest. Haunted, as humans would put it, did not describe it very accurately - they thought of it as a place where joy had fled, but no, that wasn't it... it was, honestly, just a new form of life - it had outgrew its old skin, and took upon the one that best suited it. A new birth, in a sense - how ironic that Ash didn't connect this philosophy with Solem. Wasn't that Ash? Wasn't he a new "form" of Solem, living life in a different skin since the old one didn't fit anymore?

An overwhelming calm took control, even managing to numb the throb in his cranium for a moment, which was longer than he ever could. Yes... this was home, despite the conflicting "no" resounding inside Ash's mind, deep within the corners where he couldn't hear it - the "no" inside him was being overshadowed by the sheer magnitude of the "yes." What was wrong with this serene, peacefulness growing inside him like a blossoming flower?
Well... only the fact that it was greatly overshadowed by the pain consuming Ash, causing him to scream as he fell to the ground, clutching his head tightly. The torturous ripping continued through his being, shredding his insides and ravaging his psyche as the sound dwindled; he was losing consciousness, the overwhelming darkness pummeling him into oblivion...
And then it stopped. Ash couldn't believe it at first - how... how had it stopped? Why wasn't he screaming, fueling his throbbing vocal cords with the lament that they were born to sing?
Because he saw him.
Solem, in all his likeness, was staring at Ash, his mouth agape and shoulders back. He had taken his own form, of course - a scrawny, ragged siamese point with a single, green earring on his left ear, a scratched-up, deaf right one, and a knife clutched tightly within his tail.
"You're... oh, no..." he gasped, squeezing his eyes shut with embarrassment and frustration. Of course, with the exiting of Solem from his soul, Ash had temporarily lost all his powers, save for the sight - the kitten had reverted back to his birth form, his tortoiseshell body.
The kitten froze, scowled and then snapped, all at once - he charged at the spirit, forgetting that he was, well, a spirit. Ash flew through Solem, landing on the ground with a large thud as tears pooled in his eyes. Suddenly, this amusement park did not seem like home - it was the grounds of his humiliation, the birthplace of the feline who stole his life from him.
Solem had winced as Ash passed through him, slowly turning around to see the kitten laying on the ground, practically crying - Daemons, was he... was he really that... bad?
"Ash -" he began, but was cut off by a hiss from the dirty feline on the ground.
"Don't call me that! Don't call me anything! Go AWAY! Haven't you done enough?" he began crying once more, shoulders bobbing with emotion.
"I - ...I'm sorry you're suffering," the spirit murmured from his lonely spot in the air, head downwards. "I know what happened - we're... one, um. You're beginning to know me, and I know you. We're -" but once more he was cut off.
"Are you DEAF? I don't care! Leave me alone! You're... you're not me," Ash sobbed, curling tightly into a ball.
"You're right - I'm not you,[/i]" Solem murmured, for once gaining a look from Ashen that wasn't hostile. "And you're not me - we just... crossed paths, right? I'm going now - I've found closure," Solem murmured quietly, motioning his head toward the amusement park. "I've only wanted to see that again. Um... if you want, I can go, and take my memories, I think, if you'd want me to," he mumbled once more, ears folding back over his head as he shifted uncomfortably. In truth, Ash didn't want him to take his memories back; while they weren't a piece of him, they... were, in a sense. It was hard to explain, but Ash wanted with a feverish hope to keep them, as a memento of his first few weeks of WindClan life.
"No... I want the memories," Ash sighed, a deep void of depression beginning to settle in. What good did it do to come here? He was driving away half of himself with no clear goal - did he want to make Solem beg on his knees for forgiveness, or just have him go away and leave Ashenkit in peace? He... he wasn't sure.
Solem gave a small, pursed smile. "May I keep yours?"
"...Yes."
"...I'm sorry for..."
"I know. I'm sorry for..."
"I know," Solem repeated Ash's words, giving a small laugh before settling down again, eyes hazy. "I, um... you should... take my powers," he muttered, flying into Ash and quickly flying out again, having ripped them from his soul and leaving them inside of Ash's. "For... um... y'know... that."
Ash was quiet as he "rummaged" through his acquired powers, noting that they were the ones he had already possessed, and some new ones.
"...Thanks," he murmured in awe and guilt, before standing. It was goodbye.
"...Be sure to say hello to the Daemons," Solem murmured once more, before disappearing into the air as his spirit began the slow, hellish decent through the haze into Daemon heaven.
Ash was silent as he made his way back to WindClan in his tortie body, walking with pristine movements over the border. His eyes were still pointed at the ground, not focused with seeing - he was sorting through ragged, confusing emotions and couldn't divide his attention.
