overview
wren is not one to be incredibly social, and tends to lean away from social interaction. despite this, she is actually incredibly kind to nearly everyone, and wouldn't mind helping anyone, but yet she shies away from getting close to anyone. it's because of this that she considers her best friends to be book, and loves reading, or anything intellectual for that matter. drawing is probably one of her favorite things to do (besides reading), and she carries her green sketchbook nearly everywhere with her. despite the fact that wren is incredibly prone to detail, she is incredibly far from self-centered. she has no trouble grasping the concept that every life is only one of millions, but yet that each has importance. thinking about the world at large makes her a fan of poetry, but she can sometimes the more fun things of life.
traits
"in a growing world, i find that intelligence is a trait that impacts the world greatly." | intelligent
wren is an extremely dedicated student, and her studies are always put first. she is an extremely logical thinker, and is an incredibly good from problem solver. riddles are no match for her calculated thinking, and easily finds connects between clues. classes are no problem for her either, and is constantly mentally correcting the teacher, as she studies extremely hard for all of her classes, and even harder for things she finds interesting. it's a variety of subjects that interest her, but one subject she absolutely loves is the human brain. nearly all things scientific strike her as interesting, and she loves understanding how everything functions. she also loves history, but english trumps all for her. anything to do with words nearly captivates her, and she happens to have a certain fondness for word games, as well as other strategically games. despite this, games and riddles are no match for reading in wren's mind. she'll read nearly any book she can get her hands on, and is normally seen devouring the pages nearly any anywhere. she nearly has a book on her, that is normally accompanied by her sketchbook, which she loves.
"sometimes everyone needs a little kindness" | sweet
wren is incredibly kind, and would do nearly anything for anyone. she is extremely helpful, and would help anyone is need- stranger or friend. she often spends her time volunteering, and finds herself often being mainly responsible for her younger sister. helping others like this just comes very naturally to her, and her kindness is never forced. seeing the best in people has always been both a fault and asset to wren, and normally refuses to ignore the good in someone until they completely blow her mind. she connects well with others, so taking time to understand others is not incredibly difficult for wren, but she chooses not use this skill, as she fears empathy might bring her to close to someone. so she might be more empathetic to someone she doesn't know incredibly well, to someone she's already close to. if she is extremely close to a person, there is no getting out of it for her, so she keeps them incredibly close to her heart. it would be a major mistake to mistake her kindness for being gullible, as she is far from easily tricked.
"i believe in what i believe in- i have my own reasons." | stubborn//determined
wren is stubborn in a mostly quiet way, but she isn't changed easily. she takes a position and mostly chooses to stick with it to the end, unless you can somehow use logic to persuade. despite being logical, wren normally sticks to what she believes in, and doesn't see another way without being convinced. sticking her ground is harder if someone she cares for is counteracting her, as she finds it slightly harder to firmly state her point without being influences. finishing out she was wrong by herself is nearly impossible, and being patient with her is key, because of you yell, she'll only get more defensive. although she rarely calls people out on being wrong, when she does, it's only when she sure (or nearly sure) of something. she is actually more likely to counteract a stranger than someone she knows, as she understands that those who know her better have a better chance of persuading her to change her position.
once wren starts something, she sees it through. when she's started any project, she remains focused on her task, and doesn't slack or make exceptions on herself. sometimes she can be a little hard on herself, but she pushes herself to get better, and she normally sees results. even at the end of something, wren doesn't let go. if it's a project, she might branch off onto a similar topic. if it might be something more serious like a relationship, then she'll pursue it in somewhat of a calm manor, but always determined.
"chaos is not my favorite thing." | organized
wren absolutely hates messes. she isn't exactly a clean freak, but she likes to have things somewhat in order, and never leaves a mess. her room is absolutely pristine, despite the fact that she rearranges about every two months. she keeps her things organized, and has a place for everything. when it comes to school things, wren is on top of it all. she's got a planner for homework assignments, sets aside a desk for all things schoolwork, and has a incredibly neat locker. she normally sticks to her routines, but doesn't mind when little things throw her off. she just excepts that you can't plan for absolutely everything, but if you don't plan at all, things can get pretty messy. planning is a bit of habit for her, although the hardest thing for her to organize is her time. since she's constantly busy, manage her time is quite a challenge, but she doesn't mind in the slightest.
"great reward only comes with hard work. so i work hard." | hard working
from her job at the local cafe to her constant a's, wren is far from a slacker. even with little reward, wren doesn't just stop and lay down, she stands practices her viola, then double-checks her homework. then she might go check on her sister, go to work, or pick up her sketchbook and grab tea. her job occupies a good portion of her time, but she always manages her time when it comes to things like schoolwork. she's incredibly intent on saving her money, so her job is incredibly important to her. since she's quite the planner, she nearly always some activity (extremely useful or nearly useless) to occupy herself with. doing nothing drives her nearly mad, and being active is always important to her. from time to time, she might just sit and think- not about her life, but- about the world at large. or she may go sit outside barefoot on the grass, and grab her sketchbook. these times are fairly rare, but she she always manages find a little down-time for herself.
"somethings can be contained by words and drawing, yet some can not." | artsy
wren loves nearly all things art, including the literal art of poetry. sketching is her favorite style of art, although she loves her pencils, and has a fondness for watercolor paints. she loves to do things in nature, and nearly all of her sketches are with of landscapes, places she's been, or things in her backyard. she prefers to paint what she sees in real life, and rarely paints from photos. she simply thinks that the sketch is a) better interrupted by her b) actually based of her sigh of being there, feeling everything there and c) her entire work, that doesn't include the work of the photographer.
when things can't be contain by color, they can be contained by words, or can not be contained at all. so wren will turn to poetry when art fails her. she doesn't really write as much poetry as she reads, but as a book lover, that isn't a huge surprise. she loves reading the words, and unraveling them to reveal a truth about life. it is in some ways, a puzzle to her. but the puzzle's solution holds a solution, or a problem inside of it. that's why she enjoys poetry so much.

↳past and history;;
wren marie oak was born to lynne kingston oak and derek michael oak on august twenty-fourth. she was raised in a middle class family, who had little trouble keeping afloat, but was far from rich. her younger years she mainly spent with her neighbor, who was a kind old woman who loved children and had two cats. after wren turned five, her younger sister nicole lilia oak was born. the kind nest store neighbor took care of them until wren turned eight, when her parents had started to bicker. less than one month later, her mother declared that the girls would be moving back to their mother's hometown with their father. wren had never cried much as a child, but tears came anyway.
within three days, wren's things were all packed, and they were flying on a plane towards the place of her mother's birth. while on the plane they discovered that the kind old lady next store had to be taken to the hospital, and was most likely to die within three days. wren cried until the plane touched the ground on the place she would be forced to call home.
getting everything set up in their new home took nearly three months, and within that time, wren had to spend her days at school once again. not only had she left behind a home, but she had left behind friends. she instantly had more trouble making friends at this new place, but quickly got over at she discovered the grand (by her standards) library. all she did was sit there and read after school, when her mom wouldn't be able to pick her up on time, or when something went wrong with nicole. wren never minded, she just read, read, read.
after wren turned fifteen, her mom started to worry about her. she adopted a black cat for her daughter from the neighbors whose cat just birthed kittens. she named her cat artemis after the greek goddess of hunting in greek mythology, which she had loved at the time. well her little sister instantly got jealous, so her mom found a welsh springer spaniel litter that was due in two months. well it took nicole about five months to get bored of her dog, so wren instantly took the dog under her wing. since little nicole had never taught the dog her name (princess) wren easily renamed the dog agate, after the semi-precious stone. just a year later, her mother noticed what a great effect having the pets had on wren, so she reserved a male on a golden retriever litter. once wren got her third pet, she named him apollo to accompany artemis.
