hollowflight limped to the medicine cat den with some minor scratches scored along her flank and some raw paws. the warrior poked her head in, silent concern for nightstar brewing in the pit of her stomach. "shadowwind?" the she-cat inquired. "do you have any cobwebs and some herbs i can put on these, to prevent infection?"
foxkit was long since asleep after the battle, her russet flank shallowly rising and falling.

the teen continued along the path, muttering a well-chosen string of curses under his breath, casting wary glances over his shoulder every once in a while. shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans, aleks strolled on for a while, until he finally lifted his head and was, quite surprisingly, astounded by the sight. a majestic castle stood on the horizon, it's tallest towers grazing the clouds above, so greatly contrasting with the brilliantly blue sky around it. "where am i?" he asked, to no one in particular, still convinced that this was all a lucid dream.

Valeriya sucked in a sharp breath as she ducked behind a ratty shack for cover. the indefinite moaning of the zombies were drawing closer by the second. any minute, they could be rounding the corner and onto her again. quickly checking the rounds still remaining in her pitiful arsenal, the girl muttered a string of well-chosen curses as she shoved the undoubtedly precious pieces of iron into her pocket before rising stiffly and did a quick scope of her surroundings.

the sharp snapping of footsteps sounded only feets behind her. Valeriya stopped dead in her tracks, a quivering hand reaching unconsciously reaching for the black hilt of her pistol that hung loosely from her battered utility belt. as she drew the weapon, what appeared to be a, well, normal human being emerged, if not, quite winded. she had had encounters like this before. experience taught her that not all survivors were approachable. many tried to rob you of whatever you had left, or even murdered you for heaven's sake. she placed her thumb on the trigger, slowly raising her arms to a presumably well level to shoot on impulse, if needed.

"thanks for offering, but i think its best to just take care of yourselves for now." the girl replied bitterly, her muscles tense to flee at any given moment. a short while later, when the sense of danger seemed to cease, valeriya slowed to a halt, leaning her back against the pleasantly cool surface of a metal warehouse. wait. warehouse. the promise of potential supplies sent a jolt through her body and she hastily undid the bolt and poked her head inside. a musky scent of rotting mildew reached her nose as the girl quickly scanned the premises of the ashen building. nothing prominent seemed to catch her eye, so she shut the door as quietly as possible, cringing as the metal grated against the sidewalk.

hollowflight poked her nose out from behind a scrubby bush, a small shrew in her jaws. seeing that winterpaw was still hunting, the warrior pawed the dirt to make a small basin in the ground and covered it up as quietly as possible, so that she wouldn't frighten whatever prey her apprentice was stalking.
"yeah!" she mewed brightly up at the snowy white warrior, feeling a twinge of happiness for her denmate. turning to the other kit, she mewed, "good luck forestkit, i hope you have fun caring for the elders!" foxkit teased, nudging him playfully.

a shallow breath escaped her as she slumped against the supporting wall and fiddled around with the differentiating parts of her weapon. squinting up at the cloudless blue sky, she estimated that night would fall soon. that posed as a problem. the girl was sure that no matter what kind of shelter she finds, be it a freaking fortress or just a crude mud house, the soulless corpses always seemed to find her in a few hours max. valeriya could feel her strength ebbing away, like a dog gnawing away at it's bone. silently uprighting herself, she set off to find a somewhat promising shelter.
