Dylan looked over, her eyes widened. "Come on..." she said to her partner, pulling him away.
Sarah smirked. "Luke... So I'm dancing with the Jake wannabe?"

Dylan looked over, her eyes widened. "Come on..." she said to her partner, pulling him away.
Sarah smirked. "Luke... So I'm dancing with the Jake wannabe?"

Jake took off his mask and kissed Dylan before she saw who he was. He ran and leaned against the wall.
Police stormed into the room. Everyone jumped and looked around, raising their eyebrows in suspicion. Dylan stumbled and almost fell. "They're here for me. I know."
Sarah laughed maniacally and walked away.
"We're looking for Luke Martin and Dylan Sheperd."
Someone shoved Dylan forward. She looked over her shoulder and scowled. The police took her arm and began walking. "Wait!" Dylan screamed. The officer immediately stopped. "Who was my partner?"
There was a long pause. Jake walked forward to Dylan. "It was me."
Dylan hid her smile and happiness. She ran out of the room, the officer being dragged after her.
She ran to the bathroom and twisted her way out. Dylan ran to a stall and locked herself in. She burst into tears.
Jake... Or... Luke?

Dylan calmed down and wiped her eyes. Black marks streaked her face. Mascara ran down to her jawline.
She walked out of the bathroom and saw Luke. She gulped nervously... Why did she feel so guilty?
Oh right. Jake kissed her after their... Amazing... Dance.

She raised her eyebrows. "In where?" Dylan asked.

"Whaddya mean...?" Dylan lied, looking away.

Dylan's hands clenched into fists. "We danced and had fun... Then he took off his mask..."

"Yeah. I didn't ask for it... It just happened and he disappeared," Dylan said. Thoughts went through her head... The memory of the kiss. It wasn't bad.

Dylan walked over to Luke. She slapped his face and stormed off angrily. She untied her mask and flung it to the ground.

Dylan heard the shards. "I hope that makes you feel better!" she screamed from down the hall.

"You're going to the orphanage. Both of your parents are unavailable."
Dylan sat against the wall. Officer Jones walked up. "I'm sorry to say I have to take you to the orphangage."
"Why?"
"Your mom is in jail and Luke's parents are dead."
"Oh."
"If I'm adopted... Would I ever see my friends again?"

The policeman sighed. "It's not all about you... Dylan's dad has been missing for years and her mom was just arrested."
Dylan sighed. "Oh."

The officer sighed. "I heard what had happened," he said, pausing, "I've dated lots of girls... And personally, I think you're blaming her that wasn't her fault," he said, standing up. The officer, Officer Hill, ruffled his hair and walked away.

Dylan followed the police to the car. She got in the seat and leaned against the window.

Dylan shifted uncomfortably. She could feel the anger creeping around with its dirty fingers.

Dylan sighed and looked ahead. Her had been falling out of the bun. It was in waves and curls.
"Aw, come on... I can feel the chill between you!" Officer Hill said.

Dylan sighed and put her face in her hands. Officer Jones tried to quickly get to the orphanage.

Dylan resisted the urge to pull her hand away. Her heart beat quickly and heat waves went through her body.

Dylan silently unbuckled and scooted over. She sat on his lap, facing him. "We just can't stay apart, can we?"
