Well, inactivity. The rut which everyone fell into. She hadn't been inactive in her life, but showing up in the camp, doing her duties? Was just a.. a personal problem for her. She didn't like to see anyone. She didn't have anyone to see, anyways. She didn't think that it was important for her to socialize with anyone. Harborpaw liked to be alone. It was calming, because if you had to be with people, you had to talk. And what kind of useless crap was talking? The subject made her angry.
Groaning, the female sat up. Her studies on the moon had gone nowhere. She had been tracking the cycles to see if it changed, and it did-- she just had no clue why. She impulsively scattered some dust over the messy scrawl of her own language and stomped away to the river. It was full of prey this season, and the waters were rather high, so it wasn't easy to swim, but it was easy to catch prey. She had taught herself how to swim and how to hunt. She didn't need anyone, and nobody needed her. She lived an easy life.
She flashed her claws into the bank and caught a fish. Big whoop. She sniffed it pensively and decided not to bring it back to camp, or eat it. She'd rather study it. She liked to learn all sorts of things. Why, just yesterday, after her moon studies, she had learned that mushrooms shrunk in heated water. She had spied on some two-legs in a fenced backyard and watched through the windows. She had to run of course, since they scared her away when the big male one had spotted her, but from what she had saw, they shrunk. So that was good.
She lay on her back, staring up at the night sky. The fish was still laying by her side, so she rolled onto her belly and pushed it in front of her. She stuck her claws through the side and opened the fish in half. Ew. There were weird egg looking things. So it was.. a female? She had never thought that the fish had much of a life except for being eaten by cats, but hey, if they reproduced using an egg system, that meant.. they were like birds?
Harborpaw pursed her lips, and prodded one with a claw. It stuck to her. She flicked it off, showing obvious disgust. So, did that mean that fish were related to birds? Or bird.. related to fish? Ugh. She just shook her head and laughed. Life was confusing, but she had plenty of time to worry about it. Now just.. wasn't the time. She sat up and kicked away the mutilated fish. It'd be nice to know everything, but that much knowledge would go to her head. Or would it already be in her head?
She was curious, but that was normal, for someone like herself. She questioned all the time. And that was just.. that was just her. She blinked her mismatched eyes and decided to redo her studies on the moon. She knew it did cycles, but she didn't know why. That would be her next goal.
She giggled a little, though she shot Lucy a sort of sympathetic look. "That'd be cool! Bones are, like, very important for my studies.."
It was one of the rare times Harborpaw was in camp. "Wow.. um.. congrats, y'know! That's kind of like, a big deal," The apprentice offered, seeming to be confused about the whole thing. But it was good for Cactusbloom! She was happy, she was just very surprised. Not that the warrior had gotten the position, but perhaps the fact that anybody would be promoted to deputy at this point in time.
"Lucylucylucy! Can I have the thorn, so um, I can match it to the plant it came from?" Harborpaw said after she had dashed over, having seen Tabbykit approach the Medicine Den out of interest. She gave a wide smile, hope protruding as the main emotion in her gaze.
"Um, good hunting," Harborpaw offered as she approached the camp entrance where the small group had gathered. She had just dropped in to gather some of her hidden stashes of bones and then she'd be back to her studies. She wasn't all that interested in hunting, or fighting, or even healing.. they all seemed like okay things to do, but she wanted to learn things that actually made her curious. She could do all the other stuff later. With a mouthful of marrow, she gave a tiny smile and shoved off before them to go to her vista.
"Um.. actually, like, I was taking these bones back to my own den.. for my studies.. but um, I guess I-- I could like, drop 'em off and go hunting.." Harborpaw said very quietly, head hanging a bit.
Maybe the higher positions had more important things to do. Real life always came first-- so what if the higher-ups weren't always in the joining threads? Warriors in the joining threads could be off hunting or patrolling the territory instead of just saying a few words. Someone else was bound to be there. Plus, she thought that the higher-ups got there in good time. Harborpaw didn't expect them to be everywhere at once, that was just ludicrous. With a half-smile towards Mabel, the nervous apprentice looked around warily.
"Oh, well.. I'm studying the anatomy of different animals, to like, compare the similarities and differences with other prey as well as like, our own.. anatomy," Harborpaw explained, nobody had ever been really interested in what she did. Her studies were one of the few things she was excited to talk about. "It's really interesting, plus if anything ever happens to like.. a member that's a fish or a different species, and they say, break a rib or a pelvic bone, I'd be able to locate it. It-- um.. yeah," She finished, realizing Shadehours had entered. She had lots of different types of fish, but she could always use more specimen. With a silent smile, she gave a nod to the advisor. "That'd be great.. thank you,"
The onyx lioness approached the border, looking calmly over the desert sands. It'd be odd to see her brother after such a long time, but maybe he'd recognize her. One of her sabreteeth had been knocked out, and she had mismatched eyes - one reddish-orange, the other a light blue. The huge horned wildcat gave a small mutter of something under her breath and awaited a bit longer, digging her claws into the ground. Rytlynn honestly wasn't that patient, so waiting was a problem. Anyone could just jump up on her and she'd be out. She hated the fact that life was so unpredictable at times..
"Well, I hope you are mocking an actual thing. You'll have to wait for a higher up, I believe." Rytlynn said with a roll of her mismatched gaze as she approached.
"Yes. It's been long, Rytlock." The lioness rumbled, unsure of how to embrace her brother's presence. She looked towards Ace, noticing he hadn't moved his lips. She kept her opinion on that quiet. "Rytlynn Stonecold," She answered.
"Well, that's good, I suppose." Nice to know we just let random strangers in, even if they could be spies.. She murmured, thoughts guarded as she looked to Serpentine Harbringer with an almost wary look. She wasn't so sure about her brother's clan, but if he found it to be reasonable.. "Welcome to Blood Le-- BloodClan. I'd offer you a tour, but I'm sure someone more experienced than myself can," She herself had just joined, so she guessed her last thoughts of auto-acceptance was hypocritical of her. At least she realized it.
Rytlynn didn't like BloodClan. They weren't as tactical as she would have thought. But hopefully, her opinion would change. She was just more used to being.. secretive. Their camp was blandly in the middle of a desert with almost nothing to conceal them for enemy attackers, and they seemed to fight head on. Definitely not what she would have thought it to be. How could her brother not see it the same way as her? The horned, onyx lioness gave a growl as she stepped widely around the territory. There wasn't any lifeform of any sort within miles from here.
Was she lost? Maybe. She was far too stubborn to admit it, though. She tackled the nearest bush out of boredom and ripped it to shreds with her dagger-like sabretooth(she had lost the left) and her horns. Claws were just boring. She needed more practice with her other weapons, anyways.
"Who are you?" Harborpaw inquired as she approached, curiosity laden in her soft voice. She didn't recognize the older apprentice, and she hadn't heard Photoflash address her. So, of course she was interested. She stayed at the entrance of the Leader's den, unsure of whether she was intruding upon anything or not. She didn't care, actually, she wasn't really aware of most relationships-- this being no exception.
Rytlynn approached, she needed to be able to heal in case of being downed in combat or to revive an ally, so of course she was attending this.
"I'm always ready to squash a few bugs," Rytlynn grunted as she approached, eying Greatcollapse for a moment before back to Rytlock.
Rytlynn had been thinking along the same lines of Rytlock, considering Ace had assumed correct-- unless he had short-term memory or something? That would suck. The female just gave a sigh and nodded to show her thanks before coming closer to the Second Tier. "Of course! I'm too stubborn to give that up," She snorted playfully, offering a gritty smile. At his next words, she gave a nod, it was understandable to think that, she had just disappeared like the rest of the litter. "Sounds good to me. Mind giving me a tour, Brimstone?" She said, giving a light nudge to his shoulder happily.
Rytlynn was blandly in the middle of camp, trying to get used to her surroundings. The onyx lioness(though she was sometimes a deep brown color, normally when she was outside of the camp for better camouflage) gave a small grunt and squashed a random beetle under her paws.
Rytlynn said nothing about the.. drone her brother had captured. She didn't see why she was useful, but if he found some sort of thing to do for her, that was great. She didn't care much. She looked between Greatcollapse and Rytlock, mismatched gaze wary.
