Jaggedpaw rolled his eyes. "How will I bet become a warrior when my mentor is a cat who isn't even sure of himself?" He teases, a warm glimmer in his eyes.

Paleflare glares at Jaggedpaw. "Jaggedpaw!" He meowed sharply. "Do not speak to your mentor that way!"

Sparkstar padded out of her den and have a luxurious stretch. She met Wintersong in the clearing. "Can you organize a dawn patrol and a hunting patrol? I'll be in the dawn patrol."

Kat trotted through the water, enjoying the spray of the sea on her face. The water chilled her paws, but that was okay.

Jaggedpaw mumbled, "sorry, Whitechin. It was just a joke..."

Paleflare snorted and scented a mouse. He stalked it and killed it. "We can take this back to camp," Paleflare decided, turning his good eye to Whitechin and Jaggedpaw.

Jaggedpaw sighed and watched the border.

Kat began dashing through the water like a little kit. This was so much fun!!!

Jaggedpaw perked up immediately. He faced Whitechin and smiled. "Okay!" As the patrol began to move forward again, Jaggedpaw stiffened. His keen sense of smell had detected another animal-not Paleflare or Whitechin. He slowed his pace considerably. "Uh...Whutechin?" The fur on Jaggedpaw's spine began to bristle, and he unsheathed his claws. The cat he smelled was coming from in front of them, and it smelled menacing.

Paleflare skidded to a sudden halt as the unmistakable scent of fox wafted over the roof of his mouth. For the first time, he noticed a grey-white shape slinking around in front of them. "Grey fox!" Paleflare hissed to Whitechin. He was embarrassed that an apprentice had scented the creature before him.

Jaggedpaw growled quietly. He didn't like being around a fox-even if it was only the first one he ever saw.

Paleflare backed up a few steps and ended up stepping on a twig. Crack! Paleflare's eyes widened as the fox's head snapped around and the fox barked viciously. "Oh no," he whispered.

Jaggedpaw dug his claws into the ground, prepared to stay where he was and fight. His first ever battle! Mixed feelings fluttered in his chest-excitement and fear.

Sparkstar jerked her head up. "What is it, Wintersong. Tell me at once."

Ooc: when I'm gone at camp (June 30-July 4) Sparkstar will have the deadly blackcough (worse than greencough) and lose a life

Blackcough?!?" Sparkstar for up immediately. "This isn't good."
