Darkness surrounded her. Her eyes were open, attempting to find some sort of clarity, but she only saw the darkness around her. Her judgment wasn’t off though. She knew that it was day, for the birds outside called to her not even a moment ago. She was trapped; something she realized as she blankly stared at the darkness. Her hands and feet were bound with coarse rope, digging into her flesh as she laid in the darkness. Her comfort wasn’t necessary for them, and neither was her safety. Wood was digging into her back, scratching and tearing at her tender flesh as pain erupted in her spine. All around her was the splintering wood, hard against her bare flesh as she laid in silence. She was trapped, but the subtle rocking of the box made her to believe that she was moving. The rocking was a slow action, but it jolted her around the box she was in. As it tilted with each move, she realized that the box was most likely underneath the shade because with each tilt, light fluttered in through the few cracks that were left for her to see. Shadows crossed over her as she lay inside the prison, letting the sun meet her in silence.
Her breathing was coming uneven as she struggled to breathe within the wooden entrapment. It seemed as if she couldn’t get enough air into her lungs, her breathing resembled a fish out of water. Her mouth closed and opened in small movements; her body jerking once again as the box was tilted more. Her skin rubbed against the splintering wood, the splinters their way into her skin in sharp jerks. Her skin, already dry, was bleeding at the small actions. Her throat was no better. While it wasn’t the splinters that caught her throat, she could still taste the hint of iron as it bled from dehydration, her body shaking at the taste.
Her head was in a foggy haze. She tried to remember, yet she laid there with no recollection of what had happened. She couldn’t recall what her life was like before the box. Every time she tried to think of the past, a sharp pain hit the back of her skull, urging her to think about something else. She couldn’t remember the simplest details, like her name was or birthday. She was living in the unknown, something that she believed to be uncommon for her. As she tried to think, a single question ran over her mind, over and over again; why can’t I remember?

    The Mad Hatter

Rave sighed as he kicked back on the floor, his frame sliding against the wall as he watched the multiple people play a childish game. He had wanted nothing to do with the party, yet he still stayed, wanting to know if they actually went through with the horrendous dares they were bound to give. His lips pursed tightly as he narrowed his eyes at the people, crossing his ankles as he lounged back. Do they honestly want to play a game? He thought before he shook his head and blew the bangs out of his face before concentrating on the group. A group of misfits, that's all they all were.

    "He's a silent protector, a watchful guardian...a dark knight."

    The Basic Information

    | Name |
    Gavin DeGrey

    | Other Titles or Nicknames |
    Gavin

    | Age |
    Twenty Two

    | Gender |
    Male

    | Personality | [3 sentences min]
Gavin, a silent man living within a kingdom of many. He prefers to work in solitude, never coming close to people around him. A few words might pass by his lips, yet nothing seems to be loud enough when he is around others. One might find him hostile, yet they can't understand the raw emotion raging underneath, staying hidden behind a veil of strength. He's loyal, too loyal to not care about one of his own men. As a knight, he began as a strong warrior, yet every man has their down fall. His temper is hidden from everyone, except when one might glance upon The Blackwood, only to find their most trusted knight letting his emotions flow into the trees as he 'practiced' his techniques, yet no one would see the pain and aches left upon his skin from a past life no one would dare to glance upon.

    | History | [5 sentences min]
Gavin began his life as a young lad, living in a family of five as the eldest of three children. He worked until he would come home with blood pouring from the cuts and callouses in his working hands, the only hands that could provide for a large family as a peasant. He fought his physical and mental battles with strife until the age of eighteen, where he was soon joining to begin his life as a knight, a man that could serve his family well. All he wanted was their approval and for them to live a healthy life. After loosing a mother soon after his departure, his youngest siblings learning to work just as he had, he shut off from the rest of the world. His family began to split from his life, never seeing him unless he was providing them with currency to buy their luxury. He bought their love, yet no money could hold them down. As soon as he turned twenty, the family he had loved and ached for disappeared from his life. Nothing was exchanged between them, nothing ever would be again. He had lost the love- the only people who dared to care for him.

[align=center]Gavin stood outside of the castle, his fingers casually curling into his sheath, his fingers stroking the hilt of his sword. It had been a dreary day already, yet he couldn't let that affect his position. He was loyal to his royal family, everything he possessed was theirs. He glanced toward The Blackwood, something that always seemed to happen, as he ached to run his blade into another spruce. He would have to wait, though. He knew the princess, and he knew of her mischievous nature. Even though he was only a tad older than her, he couldn't help but look at her as if she were a child, yet he knew that wasn't the case. She was constantly finding something to rile up, yet he was never one to address her nature with such manor. A simple tilt of his head, and he was set. As for the prince, he knew not to address him so formally as he possessed a tad higher title than his sister. Yet the king was his objective. It was his duty to do as they asked of him, and he would not fail them. He would not let another family slip through his fingers as if they were his own.

Oh. My. Goodness. Words can't explain how beautiful this is. Oh my. Just. This is such a beautifully written, well-thought out, extraordinary plot. I wrote a novel about this, well not this in general, but just the plot. I congratulate you so much, you have no idea! Would you possibly mind if I joined? Or do you have another saved? This is just WOW! If I can't, that's perfectly fine, but this is so beautiful! I just had to let you know that!!! c:

[align=center]Gavin instantly heard the king's voice from his post beside the castle. His back tensed automatically from the call, ready to serve him with everything he possessed. His boots picked up dirt as he trotted away from his stallion, leaving him snorting behind him, yet he didn't stray from his post as he wasn't commanded to do so. Gavin's boots pounded the ground before he came in sight of his king and queen, both standing with looks of irritation and something else that he could never decipher. His left hand crossed over, resting on the hilt of his sword as his eyes darted everywhere, asserting any danger of why they called on him before his orbs darted to his superiors once again.
"Yes, my king?" His voice came out quiet, yet stern, a trait that he had had sense he could remember

[align=center]Gavin instantly nodded as he listened to the king's commands, yet he instantly realized something else bothering the man. His eyes took in the man that he had grown to know before he sighed deeply and stepped away, straightening his spine as he glanced around before turning his full attention on the king once more with a timid smile, his cheeks aching from the unfamiliar stretch of muscles across his face.
"Will that be all, my king?"He asked, using more words in a single conversation than he had in a week.
