[fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 270px; text-align: justify;]Whoever these Fableclanners were, they sure had a sensitive ego. Most of the Skullclanners present were only curious, lacking malicious intent, but Sir Arthur had huffed and waltzed away, He'd judged an entire population by a couple of cats who had, very reasonably, been suspicious of or had curiosity about the group that requested information from them with no explanation as to why they needed it.
He, like Tellpaw, wondered why a clan which declared itself neutral was looking for allies. This was not a perfect world, one could not declare neutrality, pick and choose from the strongest of clans, ally themselves with them, and expect to remain allies with anyone once it was discovered that they were friends with both Pro and Anti clans. The two categories clashed quite often, so help was expected from allies on a regular basis. You were not an ally if you did not assist, and to do so they would have to pick a side. Once they decided to assist one side over another, they could be fairly be considered part of that category, or at least an enemy of one group.
Now, some may call the sphinx himself a hypocrite for taking an educated guess towards the clan's attitude based on one member, but the group had chosen to send him to represent their entire population. If he was the highest-caliber warrior they had chosen to send, the group itself didn't leave a very good first impression.
