I'm honestly so flattered that you would think that! You're such a sweetheart. ^_^ Also, I think it's time for another danger to show up, but I'll leave the next one for you.

Amaya laughed nervously, the awkwardness of the situation crashing down upon her. She slid a foot back, a solid tell of her wavering confidence around this man. Was that even supposed to be a joke? Or was he really just trying to get that yokai out of his way? I can't tell with him. His facial features never seemed to move, which made reading him completely impossible. It was as if he was a statue from another time, a flawless work of art that refused to be portrayed any differently. Or maybe, he just didn't know how to portray himself any differently.

Amaya's mind desperately scrambled to think of something to say, simply for no other reason than to break the silence. Her eyebrows shot up as she suddenly realized she had never introduced herself. "Oh! My name is Amaya, by the way. Amaya Momoe. My family owns this temple." The girl considered walking up and offering her hand, but quickly decided against it. From what she's seen, most likely he would stare at her hand until she moved away again. "W-what's your name?" Amaya tried to keep her voice steady and clear, but the shock of the situation was starting to wear out.

This newfound lack of shock brought with it more sensations. Amaya noticed that her hands were softly shaking, partly from fear and partly from the cold. Her clothes and hair were absolutely soaked, and as she realized this, her body seemed to come alive to the sensation and begin shaking. Pale arms wrapped around herself in a fruitless attempt to keep any sense of warmth in her body. Despite this chill, Amaya couldn't bring herself to walk to a dry place. It was as if the girl was captured; frozen under the sharp and uncaring gaze of the man in front of her. A hand reached upwards, pulling auburn locks behind Amaya's ear. She set her eyes upon the clouds, getting lost in the sight of the rain falling towards her. "Is this really a place they would want to fall to anymore?" Her voice was barely a whisper, merely the echo of a thought. Amaya herself could barely hear herself, and yet didn't care. She was lost in her own thoughts of her childhood spent sitting on the porch with her mother. The thoughts carried her gently to another time, allowing Amaya to forget her current situation, and even the man in front of her for a moment.

It was the closest to an actual conversation that the two had, which for some unknown reason, made Amaya smile. She watched him intently, trying hard to observe every small movement. She could see subtle movements in his face then. A twitch of the eyebrow, a slight pull at the corner of his lip. It was reassuring that to see however slight, that he did show emotions on his face.

Amaya's head tilted slightly at his opinion of his name. Was he trying to hide it from her? Wait, do yokais' names hold power over them? No, wait, that was supposed to be demons. She scoffed at herself in her mind at her mistake of confusing the two species up. However, that raised even more questions as to why he simply wanted her to refer to him by his title. Amaya never was one of those people who would use titles as opposed to names. She wasn't even one for nicknames, either. However, she supposed that referring to this man as 'medicine seller' was better than simply calling 'hey you' or 'yokai'. Would he be offended at her bringing up the fact that he was a yokai directly? It suddenly dawned upon the human girl that she had just been introduced to a whole new world, one filled with its own customs and sets for rules to follow. Did he already know how humans act? Would he be offended by anything she does? Worries swirled around Amaya's mind until the medicine seller's voice broke through her inner turmoil.

At the sound of his command, Amaya immediately squeezed her eyes shut. She wasn't exactly sure why she felt she should trust this yokai completely, but she did. It was one of those things that you just couldn't describe to other people, nor would it make sense to others. This baseless trust is what lead Amaya to shaking in fear and cold, listening to the deafening screech of an unknown creature above her. Part of her desperately wanted to see what was happening, but she knew that she was in a world that was not her own. A powerless human can do nothing against yokai in a fight. It was better to simply hope that the medicine seller would choose that she was worthy enough to protect.

Amaya was still squeezing her eyes shut, pale, shaking hands clenched to her chest when she felt the sensation of something covering her eyes and touching her shoulder. Immediately she froze at the sensation, panic clenching her every muscle in preparation to run at any second. That when she heard that decadently sweet voice breathed straight into her ear, telling her to open her eyes. Amaya's panic for her life was quickly replaced by another form of panic as she scrambled away from her once-again saviour. Somehow in her tangle of arms and legs flailing about, Amaya had ended up on the ground, looking up at the medicine seller. Her voice no longer had to cut through the sound of raindrops landing as Amaya yelled out. "D-don't do that!" Her voice tried desperately to sound authoritative, but there was a breathy tone about it, and her desperate attempt to seem mad was lessened by the rose colour painted clearly upon her pale cheeks.

Amaya's heart pounded loudly in her chest, loud enough for the sound to echo up to her eardrums. Her chest pulled upwards in a shaky breath, trying desperately to quell the pounding of her blood vessels. Her efforts proved to be useless; her stubborn organ refusing to slow its pace or power. Amaya thought back to the sensation of that yokai's hand on her shoulder. His touch was surprisingly... gentle. It seemed to communicate a much different nature that the one portrayed upon his face. She could still feel the subtle heat from the simple touch, and secretly she wondered why she was dwelling upon what must be nothing to him.

A sigh escaped exasperated lips as Amaya slowly stood up from the ground. Her voice rung out, now echoing off of the walls surrounding them due to the lack of rain. "I can see now that you someone who likes jokes, despite you not... well... seeming like the type." Her voice had a desperate tone to it, her exhaustion clearly showing upon her features. Yes, Amaya told herself, That was simply a joke. I'm probably just like a toy to him. Wait... Is that why he saved me? Amaya couldn't explain why, but a small pang resonated in her heart at that moment, and sadness crossed her face for a single moment. It was quickly covered up with a smile, which Amaya had been doing since she was young. There was no point in trying to show sadness to others, because they would secretly take that as weakness and use you because of it. She learned that from her past experiences. "Well, I think we should probably get inside somewhere. I can give you a change of clothes if you like, since we're both pretty soaked." A lighthearted giggle escaped from Amaya's soft lips as her usually bouncy nature returned. She spoke in a tone as if none of the previous scene had even occurred; as if she was speaking to a regular human instead of a yokai that had saved her life twice. There's no point in showing anyone sadness. I can't be that pathetic. She convinced herself of that in her mind, but somewhere inside of her, there was a girl who wanted to scream out at everything this situation had brought to her and taken away in short amount of since the first drop of crystal came from the sky, until the puddles stop collecting droplets to add to their surface. For the first time in her life, Amaya cursed the sight of the rain.

I'll post in a minute, first I was just wondering about what the familiar should look like? Is it like an animal pet type of familiar, or does it resemble humanoid figures, or what?

Adette sighed as she walked her way home. She could feel the presence of her familiar lurking in the shadows, always following yet constantly out of sight. When she first met Iri, this odd way of following freaked her out. Now it was more of a comfort than anything. And in her current situation, the girl could any sort of comfort she could get. She knew it was a mistake letting her college roommate drag her to the movies. Adette was more than aware that it was only out of pity that possessed her to bring along a downer like herself.

As she continued along the dark path, Adette began to wonder if it would've been better just to put up with the stupid party her roommate wanted her to go to. It wasn't as if this was a safe neighbourhood. A scoff escaped the brunette's lips as she thought to herself. Clearly she doesn't care about me that much if she just lets me walk home on my own through one of the city's most dangerous areas.

Adette stopped abruptly as two men stepped out in front of her. She didn't even need to glance at them for more than a moment before knowing that they were bad luck. Lucid-Siege... She swallowed her fear as she tried to step around them, maintaining her cool and plain composure. "Please, let me through." Her voice was quiet, but there was a fierceness behind it, one that held the fire of a thousand suns within it. Despite this, the men refused to move. Adette could feel Iri's hostility, and the girl had to hold out a hand behind her subtly to tell the fox to stay where she was. No good could come from her familiar appearing. That would be just asking for the two to attack her.

Before she could devise a plan, Adette had found herself being grabbed along with being called someone else's and Adette prepared herself to yell at the man behind her for whatever stunt he was trying to pull when she saw the identity of her 'protector'. She stood frozen, staring for a moment before a deep voice pulled the girl out of her trance. Her face quickly dropped to a deadpan, however. It was a natural face position for her at this point, being as she practiced it every day of her life. "Thank you for saving me." She dipped in a small bow, brunette locks falling in front of her face. She didn't bother moving them after coming up; she tried not to make any unnecessary movements. "But if you do not mind, I will be heading on my way now." She showed no expression as she quickly spun around and stepped away. Adette made sure her steps weren't too fast as to seem afraid of him, yet not to slow as to seem like she was having any doubts about her desire to leave.

She didn't let her smile drop for a single moment, merely nodding her head softly as though to say she understood. She wasn't sure if it was due to the fact the medicine seller was a yokai, or simply because he didn't seem to be adept at expressing what he was feeling, but suggesting ideas to this pale man proved once again to be a fruitless effort. Inwards, Amaya let out an exasperated groan, and wished she could just go inside.

Amaya's thoughts froze to a halt as the reality of the situation she was in hit her. This wasn't a malicious yokai, he didn't seem to be the type to attack her while her fragile back was turned, despite the scene he caused earlier. And yet, Amaya found herself avoid the removal of herself from this yokai's presence. Words that the pale man spoke earlier echoed through her thoughts. I seem frightened? Am I? The small girl considered it for a moment before realizing that she wasn't. No even a bit. What was it about this strange yokai's presence that set her so at ease? The questions dwelled in the back of her mind as she considered the different possibilities.

Amaya was still lost in her thoughts when she heard the yokai speak up once again. At first the sides of her mouth curled up as a natural raction (Falling asleep, finish in morning when awake_

She was aware of the numerous sets of eyes setting their gaze upon the plain girl. She also wasn't dense enough to realize that she couldn't depend upon any of these people to help her. Most likely almost, if not all of them, were criminals. Besides, the man walking a few steps behind her was Override. The Override. Not even a decent-hearted citizen would dare act against the orders of this mysterious criminal.

Adette felt a shock of sensation as the blue-haired man spun her and put her against the wall. Despite the quickened pounding in her chest, the girl refused to let any of it show outwards. She remained to keep her breathing at a normal rate, and a stoic look upon her face, as if this was a completely normal situation. Her teeth clenched tighter as his grip tightened, causing a dull pain coat her nerves. Adette could feel Iri lingering in the protection of the shadows a couple feet away. Despite the fox's will to protect Adette, even Iri could feel the power radiating off the of man in front of her. Adette calmly observed his facial features. From up close, the girl could tell that he was very old whatsoever. Early twenties, perhaps? The most eye-catching feature was obviously his eyes. Adette thought she observed Override's eyes glowing in the dim light, but surely that couldn't be true. Perhaps just a mixture of being tired and slight fear.

Adette inwardly sighed as she heard his statement. I figured it wouldn't be that easy to get away from this man, especially given who he is, but I didn't expect him to be so forward about it. Blue eyes closed for a moment for Adette to take a deep breath before she responded. She did not want to give him the privilege of seeing her immediately reaction, especially since that was what he wanted. An immediate reaction of fear and a fight. But Adette knew that a fight would be pointless given their obvious strength differences, and the more she gave him what he wanted, the more the man would demand. "I promise you that whatever I can give you will rather be disinteresting to you, or nothing you do not already have. Her words came out as slightly harsh, yet her icy blue eyes met his golden gaze with complete calmness. She did not bother to move as opposed to the slow rise and fall of her small chest.

Suddenly, a grin spread across her face. Although she had told herself it would be of no use to give a reaction, and despite her calm exterior, her emotions were in a frenzy inside her brain, causing a bit of the rage to be released in the form of mocking. "You know, I expected the notorious Override to be more intimidating than this." Adette's head moved in a nodding motion, gesturing to his overall self. Her eyes held a mischievous look in them that few have ever seen before. She wasn't sure what brought this out in the girl, but she couldn't say that she was completely hating giving this man a reaction. "I bet your intelligence isn't even as half as great as mine." Her words were practically spat at him, showing the collective bitterness that Adette had collected for herself, spending years proving herself with her mind.

"What has made the state a hell on earth has been precisely that man has tried to make it heaven."-Holderin

Broken glass crunches under your feet. Logically, you should be feeling pain, yet even the sound of crunching is not enough to trigger that response in your mind. Not when the only thought echoing through your mind is the pure fact that you are free. Free. What year is it now? It should be close to 1900 at this point. You go to take a step, then stop. Panic sets in for a moment, covering the pure sense of elation pulsing through your veins. You were never meant to get out. You'll never be accepted into society the way you are. You're a monster. A freak.

Shooting up in your bed, you feel the thin mattress beneath your legs. The drab grey of the walls around you haven't changed. None of that was real. At this point it might be hard to discern whether what you experienced was merely a dream, or the crazed imaginings of shattered mind. Slowly, you lay back down and take a deep breath, hoping to lull yourself back into a dream. Maybe this time it will actually be peaceful.

    Alyssa Arnault

Alyssa felt her head pounding. She was still trying to grasp exactly what happened just a minute ago. Her asshole of a boyfriend was groping all over her, so she decided to run... er... stumble away, and now she's in a forest filled with fog? Deep down she hoped that this was merely one of those dreams she got after passing out with alcohol poisoning, but somehow, Alyssa doubted it.

As she pushed her black hair behind her ear, Alyssa swore she heard voices up ahead. Happy to have any sort of freedom from this weird nightmare she is caught in, the girl hurried forward. She didn't look up as she ran forward, not exactly in a straight line. She kept going until she felt herself hitting a person. "Hey *hic* bitches. Funny prank you guys pulled on me. The whole pretend rape thing and leaving me? Funny."
