[size=36pt]The Ranks of SorrowClan[/size]

The ranks of Sorrowclan are a bit different than from other clans for the simply reason that they are different from other clans. The members of Sorrowclan go out of their way to obey these cats because they have the power to kill them with permission from the leader or the leader's mate. Be wary young ones.

Leader:The role of leadership is much the same as it is in other clans, only males can only be leader. This is because the tom's mate is the she-leader of the clan. This cat has all the control, and can make anyone do anything. He also gets nine lives from Starclan.

She-Leader:The she-leader is the leader's mate. She is expected to rule beside him, and give him many kits, for few kits survive in Sorrowclan. She is right under him in power. She too is given nine lives from Starclan

Deputy:As with other clans, the deputy is under the leader, or leaders, in rank. Like with the leaders, the deputy can only be male, and his mate is right under him in power. In Sorrowclan, the deputy oversees mentors and apprentices. He decides when an apprentice is ready to take the warrior's test.

She-Deputy:The she-deputy is of course the deputy's mate. Her main jobs are to give the deputy kits, and to see over the queens and kits. She decides when a kit is ready to take the apprentice's test.

Healer:The healer above the medicine cats, and can only be the eldest male medicine cat. His job is to lead the medicine cats and chose the medicine cat apprentices. He also decides when a medicine cat apprentice is ready to take the medicine cat's test. Unlike with other clans, the healer is allowed to chose a mate and have kits.

Medicine Cats:The medicine cats play much the same role as they do in other clans. However, they are allowed to have a mate and kits with permission from the healer. They do not chose apprentices, but do train them.

The Protectors:These cats are a group of specially chosen warriors that the leader only chooses. Their job is to make sure that the leaders' and deputies' orders are carried out. They also are the overseers of the prisoners. They are loyal to none but the leaders and deputies. These cats rarely ever have any family or friends. Some do have mates and kits, but only with permission from the leader only. The Protector's overseer is called The Lion. His job is to give out the orders from the leaders and deputies.

Protector Apprentices:These are the warriors training to be Protectors. They are given a test by The Lion when he thinks they are ready to be full fledge Protectors. They normally train between 8 and 10 moons.

Warriors:The warriors are the same as in any other clan, only they don't always get to chose their mate. The leader must give the cats permission, and sometimes he forces them to be mates with another cat.

Medicine Cat Apprentices:These are the cats training to be medicine cats. They normally train for about 18 moons. They are given a test by the Healer before they can become medicine cats.

Apprentices:These are the cats training to be warriors. They normally train for about 12 moons. They are given a test by the deputy before they can become warriors.

Queens:She-cats expecting or with kits. They normally move into the nursery a moon before they have kits, and stay with the kits until they are three or four moons old. They are not expected to do their duties the half moon before having their kits, and two moons after having the kits. After that time however, they must return to their duties.

Kits:Any cat under the apprentice rank. Their job is to begin learning the skills they will need as members of Sorrowclan. This includes everyone's scent and name, their way around camp, and the basics of healing. Kits are normally give the apprentice's test by the she-deputy when they are around four moons old. While kits that past the test earlier tend to move up in rank faster, they don't have to pass the test until they are six moons old. If they pass the test, they are either chosen to train as a medicine cat apprentice or as a warrior. But, if a kit does not pass the test by their sixth moon, they are held as prisoners, abandoned in the city, or killed. This is decided by the leader and deputy.

Elders:Elders are the cats of any rank who have survived long enough to be deemed worthy of rest. If a leader or she-leader dies, the one left alive also becomes an elder. The elders' only job is to preserve the history of Sorrowclan.

Prisoners:Prisoners are cats found on the territory and that attacked a member of Sorrowclan, cats that joined the clan but couldn't prove themselves, and the kits who couldn't pass the apprentice's test. They are also the cats that betrayed Sorrowclan in some way or other. The cats are used in testing, and are treated as objects. They can also be owned by members of the clan, and be used in whatever way the cat wants. They are sometimes given as gifts or as awards by the leaders. If any prisoner is caught trying to escape, they are killed in a special ceremony, or worse. If a cat is caught trying to help a prisoner escape, they become one themselves or is killed.

[size=36pt]Camp of Sorrowclan[/size]

Sorrowclan makes their camp in an abandoned building on the edge of the city. This building is a falling down asylum that still fights to stay. Sorrowclan takes pride in their camp for it has managed to hold on, just as they have. The building is constantly patrolled all around, never allowing a stranger or other animal into their home.

The inside of the asylum is full of rooms and hallways that the clan uses for different things. One hallway is used as the medicine cat den while another hallway is used for clan meetings. While some rooms are used as dens and holding cells, most are left for the apprentices and kits to explore. The entire clan must learn the entire asylum. This is part of their warrior test.

Leaders' Den
The Leaders' den is found at the end of the Meeting Hall(see 'Other Parts of the Asylum'). The room is kept clean by prisoners. It is a large but cozy room. The leaders sleep on the bed, and keep a stash of fresh kill in the draw.

Deputies' Den
Unlike in other clans, the deputies get their own room. Their room is located across from the leaders' den. Though it's not as clean or as big as the leaders' den, it's still comfortable. The deputies sleep on the bed with their kits. The chair is where the leader whenever he calls a privet meeting, for they meet in the deputies' room.

Medicine Hall
The Medicine hall is a hallway for the medicine cats and sick cats. The hallway itself is where cats wait to be seen to, and where medicine cats without a mate or kits sleep. One room is full of medicine supplies. The other rooms are used for cats who must stay within watch of the medicine cats for a length of time and for the medicine cats with families. The healer also has his own room to sleep in. This is also where he will give an apprentice to the test to become a full medicine cat. Medicine cat apprentices also sleep in the hallway itself.

Protectors' Hallway
This hallway is across from the Meeting Hall. Here, all protectors stay. Each protector gets his or hers own room, but apprentices sleep in the hallway all the way in the back. Because of the privet manner of their training, the Lion will close a door at the end of the hall to block view of them. Any protector's mate and kits stay with the protector in his or her room. However, they must leave during training. Most protectors stay in this hall during sharing tongues, separating themselves from the rest of the clan. Only the leaders, deputies, and head medicine cat are allowed here beside the protectors and their families. Any other cat must have special permission.

Warriors' Hallway
The warriors' hallway is the first one you come across when entering the camp. Often, three or more warriors will share one room. These cats are often family members, or close friends. All cats must come through this hallway to get in or out of the asylum, and to get to any of the other dens. Unlike with the other dens, apprentices do not sleep in the hall. Some warriors without a family or friends will sleep in the hall instead of a room. Warriors on guard will also stay in the hall.

Apprentices' Hallway
The apprentices' hallway is in a worse shape than the other hallways, but its still safe and warm. All of the apprentices sleep in the ground except in the winter, when they're allowed to have a moss nest. This is to make sure that the young cat is tough enough to be a hunter and protector of Sorrowclan. A cat will stay here, no matter the age, until he or she has passed the warrior's test.

Nursery
While some she-cats' get the luxury of keeping their kits in their room, warriors do not. So, mothers move into the nursery when they are close to having the kits. All mothers help in raising the kits, and many sleep share a nest once their kits get older. Kits are free to play and explore this small corner hallway.

Elders' Room
Since so few cats reach the age of an elder, the elders only have a room they all share. This room is warm, and kept clean. The elders sleep on blankets and pillows found throughout the asylum, and if a pillow or blanket can't be found, they sleep on a nest made of bird feathers. Elders are free to go where they please, but most stay in the room at all times beyond to eat. Kits enjoy finding this room and hearing stories from the elders.

Prisoners' Keep
This is only one prisoner per room. These rooms can be locked, and there's no way out. The big room is used for torture when a prisoner misbehaves. These cats can only eat if they've done their job. Some of them belong to one certain cat, but most belong to the entire clan.

Leopardwhisker spotted Blankgaze as he came in. She dashed to greet him before the thing attacked Falconcry. "Blankgaze!"she called happily.

Mountainpaw jumped when she saw Falconcry get pinned to the ground. But what was pinning him? Moving toward him slowly, she tried to see.

Darkeningsoul dragged the body of Flameclaw back to camp, never saying a word. Blood still oozed onto his pelt, but he didn't care. He felt nothing, inside and out. He felt like a hollow shell, nothing left but the shell.

Mountainpaw doesn't answer. She leans down, and starts to clean his shoulder wound. "You need to see the medicine cat about those starches."she muttered.

Astridkit and the other two kits ran out behind Smokekit. They stop when they see the body. Pinekit starts to whimper. Darkeningsoul barely glances at the kits as he sets Flameclaw down. Dancinglights pads out of the nursery, then stops

Turning away from his family without a glance, Darkeningsoul walks out into the forest. He returned to the scene of the fight. And then he saw the king. Or rather, the king's body.
The knight stopped and stared. He hadn't known the king all that well, but he had respected him. The tom had given him and his family a home. Now, he was dead. Dead like his brother. Both had been killed by those blasted dogs!
Darkeningsoul felt his pure rage fill him. Normally, he would push that rage away, ashamed of it. But now, he embraced it. He wanted revenge. Plain and simple. He wanted those dogs dead.
