[justify] I stepped closer, practically weightless against the creaking floorboards. And a good thing, too, since I won't be heard. I did not feel upset any longer, an excitement taking its place. Humans, living people! It had been so long, they looked so, real. I longed for that feeling once more. Oh well. Watching was good enough.

[justify] I smiled warmly. "I know I do not have to. I want to" I grabbed the pastries from the woman, handing her half of my currency in return. Looks like I'd be working extra this week. But I didn't mind. Work did the soul good, right?

Handing the warm pastry over to katarina, I stepped out of line, the strong scent of cooking dough diminishing. A small wind had picked up, chilling the air. I hadn't brought a jacket, and neither had she. She was much smaller than I, I hoped she wouldn't be too cold.

[it did, thank you! I hope yours did as well]

Mica hardly remembers being alive, it's been so long. However, he remembers his death like it was just yesterday. He is a lonely, misunderstood man, who only wishes to have someone to spend the days with. He loves music, during and after life, and found that this was his best way to express himself. He is not bitter, and enjoys the little things in.. Death. Mica enjoys playing tricks, but only harmless ones. He appears to be around 17.

[justify] I wince. So this was it. Either I revealed myself, or she came to get me. Luckily for me, her threat meant nothing to me. Just as there is no pain in the afterlife, there is none in the in-between life. I couldn't get hurt physically. If she could rip my arm off - which she can't - I wouldn't feel anything. But, emotions are stronger, for sure.

I take a deep breath, preparing to step out of my hiding spot. No human had seem me in such a long time. How would she react? Hopefully, not with the biting. Maybe she'd just laugh? Probably not.

I walk forward a single step, not looking at her. This is when she either screams of faints. Preferably the latter. The last thing I need is a houseful of people looking for me.

[justify] I was wrong. Apparently there was a third option, where she acted as if nothing was wrong at all. A ghost loves in my house? Nothing out of the ordinary here. Well, wasn't expecting that. Not at all. I turned my head, facing her.

Now that I had a good look at her, I could tell she was very pretty by current standards. Her hair was long, her body quite petit. I stared, maybe a second too long. I was just so confused. Why wasn't she unconscious on the floor, or screaming, running to the nearest living person? I did not have an answer for any of these questions.

I didn't say anything. In fact, I was quite speechless. What was I suppose to say? 'Oh yeah, those stories are true. I'm dead!' Not exactly the best way to introduce yourself. Maybe I should just.. Walk away. No.. I ran a once calloused hand through my translucent brown hair. Might as well say something.

"No, it isn't." great. That's a wonderful way to present yourself, Mica. I mentally kicked myself, regretting that statement completely. I looked at the floor, my feet suddenly a great interest to me. My eyes were trained on my toes, and I could feel her eyes boring into me, through me.

[justify] I died exactly fifty years ago today. That's a long time. I've been on earth for sixty-seven years. Thank goodness I only looked seventeen. I couldn't imagine slowly growing older for the rest of eternity.

A family had moved into the house I've lived in my entire life and death. There's a girl who's about my age. If you take away fifty. I hadn't seen her up close; I couldn't risk being seen. The last thing I wanted was some crazy exorcist scavenging the house for me.

The girls parents were out. She was reading some book. I decided that the best way to cure some boredom was to mess around with her. Harmlessly, of course. I eased closer to the room she was in, thankful I weighed virtually nothing. The old floorboards creaked with the slightest of weight.

I wince. Must weigh just enough, then. I peek around the corner, into the room she's in. I don't think she noticed. Good. I exhaled, realizing I had been holding my breath. Although, ghosts don't really need to breathe. Because we're, well, dead. It still was a habit that never left you.

I peeked around the corner once more, trying to decide what to do. Whatever I did, I just HAD to stay out of sight. I couldn't risk it. There was the slightest chance she wouldn't freak out, but it was so small it probably wasn't even considered a number.

[justify] I nodded, still not looking up. I was... I don't know. A ball of emotions, I guess. I was embarrassed, for who knows what. I was confused, and shy, and maybe even a little afraid.

"mica." I said curtly, not sure what else to say. She was probably filled with a million and one questions. Some I might have the answer to, some I definitely won't. I finally looked up at Laine, little emotion written on my face. My lips were a firm line, my deep blue eyes distant. In a way, I was a little relieved that my secret was out. I didn't have to hide anymore.

I duck quickly out of sight, though there wasn't much of anywhere to hide. I watched quietly as she dug through a box, but I could not see what it was she was looking through. Probably another book. I stayed hidden, not wanting to ruin the fun just yet.

Her cat was staring me down. It might be a problem, trying to go unnoticed with the fireball watching my every move, but I was willing to take the risk. It had been ages since I'd actually had fun. There weren't many things a ghost could do with an empty house.

[justify] I walked out of my house and towards my beat up Oldsmobile. The sky was a pale color, accented by the clouds and birds dotting the skyline. I smiled. It smelled like rain, and I loved the rain.

As I pulled into the schools parking lot, I couldn't help but notice the lack of cara in the drive. It was a bit early, I supposed. Killing the engine, I lock the doors and head towards the school. My locker was on the top floor, so I trudged up three flights of stairs and shoved my backpack in the tight space. Grabbing my books, I slowly headed off towards civics.

The class was alright; it would be better of the teacher had a tone other than boring. I walked in the classroom, which was already starting to fill up.

[justify] I sit down in my usual seat next to Delainie. Delainie Paler, I believe. "hey." i greeted her absentmindedly, a cheeky grin on my tan face. She wasn't too popular, but why should that matter? Honestly, the girls around here could be.. Annoying. They clinged to you like you were some magnet and they were made of metal. With all the jewelry they wore, I guess it might be possible.

Class started about 5 minutes later. I liked school, don't get me wrong. Just some of the classes.. We're a bit slow. And boring. I'll admit it. I looked forward most to the free hour we had for lunch, possibly the best feature of Penacook Lake High.

[justify] I mentally kicked myself. This is what I get for trying to have some fun. I couldn't just waltz right out and let her see me... But where was I going to go? Man, I hate cats. I don't think I had any when I was alive. I made a pained face and made sure none of me was poking out from around the corner. Maybe she'd just.. Think she was going crazy or something.

[justify] [sorry! I've been super busy -.-]
Just as I went to continue talking to Delainie, the bell rang, signaling the beginning of first period. I sighed, preparing for the constant drone of the teachers voice for the next 45 minutes or so.

After about a half an hour, the teacher decided to just let us talk for the test of the period. I turned in my chair to face the girl once more, a small smile Reston in my face. "so, my buddies and I are going to this bonfire tonight. You wanna come? I knew the other guys probably wouldn't have picked her, because she wasn't like the other girls. Which is exactly why I did pick her.

[justify] mica shot her a worried look. "I don't think that a good idea... With a cut that bad, you probably shouldn't go to sleep." he was afraid she wouldn't wake up. And, they needed to get out of there soon, she she could get help with her wound. He walked around the room, looking for anything to help them escape.
