Veth landed and rushed over to Spirit to make sure she wasn't too hurt, despite his own injuries.

Pulsus' jaw dropped at what had just happened and he and Gaxidius both looked at each other with surprise.

"That monolith was three thousand years old!" Gaxidius exclaimed.

"Forgive me." Veth bowed apologetically. I'll have to remember that technique. He thought as he walked off the ruined field and entered his tent.

Gaxidius chuckled loudly. "I haven't seen a duel quite like that in a long, long time." The old dragon said.

"Gaxidius, where are we to train now?" A young ice dragon asked.

"Fear not, child. I am sure Clan Dral'Droten will allow us to use their arena, as long as young Veth Ferrus doesn't blow it up!" Gaxidius laughed.

Rend looked down at the floor.

"What else was I supposed to do, Fira?" He asked. "I had to make a choice but couldn't do it." Rend said. He took a deep, shaky breath before speaking again. "I had to punish Travis, but if I did, I would have to go through you first. And if I let him go, I would be letting the man who destroyed our home and the lives of hundreds of dragons run free. I couldn't do that either." Rend struggled to keep his emotions down but tears still formed in his eyes.

"I had to chose between my people and my sister. And I couldn't. I just... couldn't." He sighed heavily and leaned against the wall.

"We're in a desert. Of course it's rocky." Pulsus scoffed.

He turned around and began to take down his tent, folding it and packing it up within just a few minutes. In another five minutes, he had all his belongings packed as well. He hoisted the large, heavy bag onto his back and waited for the others to get ready.

"It's a good thing Aliit'ijaat and Dral'droten are at peace with each other now." Veth said cheerily, standing next to Pulsus.

"Yeah. Remember when we had to duel each other?" Pulsus laughed.

"How could I forget? Now that was a fight!" Veth said, joining in Pulsus' laughter. He grinned deviously and looked at his childhood friend. "So," He began, "Any of these fine dragonesses catch your eye?" He asked.

Pulsus gave Veth a blank look. After a moment he grinned just as deviously as Veth.

    "You know it!" He laughed.

"I didn't come here to fight and I didn't come here for the human. I'm here because I won't let that dastard take my sister from me. She's the only family I have left and for as long as I live, nothing, not him, not you, not even an army, is going to take her from me." Rend said determinedly.

"At this point, I don't even care about Travis or what happens to him. He'll get his due eventually."

Rend walked up to the cell door.

"Yes, I spoke with him. But he was... not understanding." Rend sighed. After a moment of silence, Rend spoke again, saying, "This cell can't hold me, you know. Already, I know how to escape." He said in a low voice so that only Fira could hear him.

When his sister didn't say anything about that right away, he continued.

"I didn't come here to be thrown in jail. And I didn't come to start a fight, nor did I come for Travis." He started, "I came here because I'm not about to let him take the one thing I have left in this miserable life." His voice quivered ever so slightly as he spoke to his sister, silently praying that she would believe him.

"I will never forgive Travis for as long as I live. But I won't let him stop me from being with my family." Rend said before sighing and saying, "I don't care about what happens to him anymore. He will get his due, by dragon hands or by the hands of time, he will get what he has earned."

"Dig in!" Visas said, grabbing a large chunk of venison and tearing off a mouthful.

"My two favorite words!" Raggevus said before grabbing a particularly large chunk and popping it in his mouth.

"It's so good! What'd you do different, Visas?" Fesh exclaimed while chewing a mouthful of the tender, succulent meat.

"I stole some spices from a merchant near the arena and used them on this." Visas said proudly before tearing off another bite of the chunk she had grabbed.

(I love food in general. ;D I try to be thankful just to have food, whenever and whatever I eat. There are too many people in this world who don't realize how many others are dying of starvation.)

When the last of the meat had been eaten and everyone was too full to eat another bite, Raggevus showed Nightshade, April, and Blaze to the guest rooms before heading to his own room and falling asleep on the stone floor.

Fesh stayed up a little later and cleaned up after the meal so Visas could get some sleep. When he was done, he pulled a viola from a hole in the wall and began to play a soft, soothing melody on it.
