Both twins sat down, Rai on the left and Kai on the right, looking particularly short next to his younger brother. He didn't mind though, choosing now to start his plan. He looked at his brother and signed, 'Dude, sign to me so girls think I'm being nice and hanging out with the mute kid. People are already starting to look back, and I see a cute red-head across the room eyeing us.' Rai sighed, running a hand through his hair. 'What if she knows sign language already?' he signed back. 'Then she'll know your motives and think you're a complete loser.' Kai narrowed his eyes but forced a smile so it looked like they were having a pleasant conversation before signing back, 'Pretty girls never know about anything that requires using their brain, stupid.'
Rai was about to retaliate that all actions involve mental signals from the brain, but the girl walked across the room to the two and laid a gentle hand on his shoulder, making him look up. She actually was fairly pretty now that he got a good look at her.
"I think it's so sweet that you're talking to that poor little deaf kid," she gushed. Rai's face burned with embarrassment. The only reason she had come over to talk to him was because she assumed he was talking to a deaf boy, who happened to actually have perfect hearing. When she tilted her head, still waiting for a response, he started to sweat nervously. He couldn't talk to her since, well, he couldn't talk to anyone, and when he looked to his brother for help, Kai was grinning back at him, deciding to play out the role of the 'poor little deaf kid'. "Did I embarrass you?" the girl whispered. He sighed and looked at Kai again, eyes pleading for help. Kai finally couldn't take watching this anymore and came to the rescue.
"Actually, he can't speak to you. He's mute, and no, I'm not deaf." She looked at him now, no longer interested in Rai, who was glaring daggers at his twin. "The only reason I know sign language is because he's my brother." The girl gasped and whispered, "That must be so tough for you..." Rai couldn't believe it. This must be so tough for KAI? Really? HE was the one who couldn't speak, not Kai! Kai just sighed dramatically, casting a tortured look down at his desk. "It is, but it's worth it to see him smile." Rai was signing things he normally would never sign, but, of course, no one knew what he was saying but Kai, and Kai was too busy flirting to care, so he sighed and finally just laid his head on his desk in defeat.
